Âşûr, eserleri yaygın olarak tanınan, müteahhir dönem âlimleri arasında temayüz etmiş seçkin bir âlimdir. Özellikle Kur'ân-ı Kerîm'i 'et-Tahrîr ve't-Tenvîr' adını verdiği eseriyle tefsir etmesi, onun tanınırlığını ve şöhretini artırmıştır. Bu eser, içerdiği yenilikler, belâgat yönü ve özgün üslubu sebebiyle sağlam ve güvenilir kaynaklar arasında kabul edilmiştir. Ne var ki, bu tefsirde müellif, bazı görüşleriyle bütün müctehid imamların ya da bir kısmının görüşlerine muhalefet etmiştir. Bu durum, özellikle ahkâm âyetlerinin tefsirine dair bazı ifadelerinde ve bazı diğer görüşleri eserinin çeşitli kısımlarında zikretmesinde görülmektedir. Bu nedenle ben, bir muhakkik olarak, onun görüşünü ve istidlâlini ortaya çıkarmaya, delil ve gerekçelerini açıklığa kavuşturmaya, bunları dört imamın görüşleriyle karşılaştırmaya yöneldim. This prompted me to research and introduce him، highlighting his status and virtues—especially since he interpreted the Holy Qur'an in a book he titled Al-Tahrir wa Al-Tanwir (The Elucidation and Enlightenment). This book further increased his recognition and fame، as it is regarded as one of the solid and profound works، notable for its originality، eloquence، and unique expression. However، in this tafsir، he presented some views that differ from those held by the majority—or even all—of the esteemed imams. This naturally prompts one to wonder about the reason behind such positions، especially considering the surprise they may cause. This led me to examine some of his interpretations of legal (ahkam) verses in order to highlight his opinions، methods of reasoning، and the arguments he put forth. I then compared these with the views and evidence of the four well-known imams، presenting each position and its justification، in order to clarify what is stronger and more sound ، and what is less so. Following this، I discussed the evidence provided by Ibn Ashur and the potential consequences of applying his views، thereby demonstrating the significance and aim of this study—namely، to understand the causes behind some of his differing opinions and to weigh his interpretations against those of other scholars. To achieve this، I adopted the inductive and descriptive approach to explore the era، life، and accomplishments of the Imam، as well as his opinions and the points at which they differed from those of other scholars. In addition، I employed the analytical method in presenting the evidence and textual proofs. I ultimately reached the conclusion that Imam al Ṭāhir was vast in knowledge ، profound in understanding، fluent of tongue ، and powerful in expression. He lived in a tumultuous age marked by many advances، yet—even so—he erred in some of his opinions، diverged from the consensus and established positions، and advanced a view that is not well founded and ought neither to be adopted nor propagated. IX There is no doubt that clarifying the aforementioned views of the Imam ، comparing them with those of other scholars، examining the evidences، and identifying the stronger opinion among them involved several challenges and difficulties. The most significant of these were: The effort of researching and uncovering the divergent opinions، understanding some of the Imam's eloquent expressions، and consulting the various works he referenced in his tafsir to complete the picture of his viewpoint posed significant challenges. Additionally، extracting his legal opinion from his interpretation of a verse proved difficult، as his tafsir integrates grammar، rhetoric، scholarly opinions، and various interpretations—while his own juristic view is often subtly woven between the lines.
