Çalışmada, şehrin Osmanlı arşiv belgeleri temel kaynak olarak kullanılmış, ayrıca Halep vilayetine ait tüm Osmanlı salnameleri değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmacı, söz konusu belgelerin büyük bir kısmını analiz ederek Menbiç'in idari, sosyal, ekonomik, askerî, dinî ve eğitimsel durumlarına ışık tutmuştur. Bunun yanında, şehir hakkında bilgi veren Arapça ve Türkçe tarihî kaynaklara da başvurulmuş, böylece Menbiç'in geçirdiği tarihî süreçler ayrıntılı biçimde takip edilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Osmanlı idaresi altında Menbiç'in önemini ortaya koymak ve şehrin siyasî, idari, sosyal, askerî ve eğitimsel gelişmelerini Osmanlı belgeleri ışığında incelemektir. Çalışma, Menbiç'in Osmanlı dönemindeki tarihî ve stratejik değerini vurgulamakta; ayrıca şehrin demografik yapısı ile Şam'dan Anadolu'ya uzanan siyasî, ekonomik ve sosyal ilişkilerini belgelemektedir. Tez; giriş, dört bölüm, sonuç ve dizinlerden oluşmaktadır. Giriş bölümünde araştırmanın konusu, önemi, seçilme sebepleri, tüm araştırma yöntemleri ve yapısı ele alınmıştır. Birinci bölümde ise Menbiç'in kuruluşundan başlayarak şehri yöneten medeniyetler ve İslâm fethine kadar olan tarihî süreç incelenmiş, ayrıca Emevîler, Abbâsîler, Eyyûbîler ve Memlûkler dönemlerinde şehrin durumu değerlendirilmiştir. İkinci bölüm, Menbiç şehrine ait Osmanlı belgelerinin incelenmesi ve analizini kapsamaktadır. Bu bölümde idari, askerî ve dinî yönlere ilişkin belgeler ele alınmıştır. Ardından araştırmacı, üçüncü bölüme geçerek Menbiç'e dair eğitim, ekonomik ve sosyal alanlarla ilgili Osmanlı belgelerini analiz etmiştir. Böylece şehrin tarihine ve farklı alanlardaki durumuna ilişkin en önemli belgelerin büyük bir kısmı değerlendirilmiştir. Dördüncü ve son bölümde ise çalışma, Halep vilayeti salnameleri ışığında Menbiç şehrini ele almıştır. Bu kapsamda Osmanlı salnameleri genel olarak tanıtılmış, Menbiç'in durumunu incelemedeki önemi vurgulanmış ve Menbiç kazasına dair bilgileri içeren tüm sayılar değerlendirilmiştir. Dizin bölümünde ise araştırmada kullanılan tüm kaynaklar ve referanslar türlerine göre tasnif edilmiş, ayrıca çalışmaya ait bazı ekler sunulmuştur. Sonuç olarak, bu tez Menbiç'in tarihine dair önceki çalışmalara ek bir katkı sunmakta ve özellikle Osmanlı belgeleri üzerinden yapılan incelemelerle şehrin Osmanlı dönemi tarihine daha derinlemesine bir bakış sağlamaktadır. The research relies primarily on Ottoman archival documents related to the city, as well as all volumes of the Ottoman salname of Aleppo Province. The researcher analyzed most of these documents, highlighting their significance in addressing the administrative, social, economic, military, religious, and educational conditions of Manbij. In addition, the study draws upon both Arabic and Turkish historical sources that discuss the city, given their crucial role in tracing the diverse historical events that shaped its trajectory. The aim of this study is to reveal the importance of Manbij within the Ottoman administrative system and to identify the major historical events experienced by the city in political, administrative, social, military, and educational contexts, as reflected in Ottoman documents. Its significance lies in uncovering the historical and strategic value of Manbij, which has not received sufficient scholarly attention during the Ottoman era. Moreover, the history of Manbij has not previously been examined through Ottoman sources and documents that shed light on the city's demographic structure and on the political, economic, and social relations extending from the Levant to Anatolia. The dissertation consists of an introduction, four chapters, a conclusion, and indexes. The introduction addresses the preface, the statement of the research topic, its significance, the reasons for its selection, as well as all research procedures and its structure. The first chapter examines the history of the city of Manbij from its foundation, through the successive civilizations that ruled the city, up to its Islamic conquest and its conditions under the Islamic states that governed it, including the Umayyads, the Abbasids, the Ayyubids, and the Mamluks. The second chapter comprises the study and analysis of Ottoman documents related to the city of Manbij, focusing on records concerning administrative, military, and religious aspects. The researcher then moved to the third chapter, which includes the analysis of Ottoman documents addressing educational, economic, and social dimensions, thereby completing the examination of most of the significant documents pertaining to the city's history and its conditions in various fields. The fourth and final chapter discusses Manbij in light of the salname volumes of Aleppo Province, introducing the Ottoman salname in general and emphasizing its importance in studying the circumstances of Manbij. All issues that contained references to the district of Manbij were examined. In the indexes section, all sources and references of different types were cataloged, along with the contents of the research and some relevant appendices. The study concludes that this dissertation represents an additional contribution to previous research on the history of Manbij. Its distinctive feature lies in its focus on examining the city's history through Ottoman documents, thereby opening the way for deeper exploration of Manbij's historical trajectory during the Ottoman era.
