Umran Nazif Yiğiter'in Eserlerinin Edebiyat Sosyolojisi Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

Bu tez, Cumhuriyet Dönemi Türk edebiyatının dikkat çekici yazarlarından Umran Nazif Yiğiter'in eserlerini edebiyat sosyolojisi bağlamında ve kuramsal bir çerçevede incelemektedir. Çalışmanın temel amacı, yazarın hikâyelerinde toplumsal gerçekliğin nasıl kurgulandığını ve birey-toplum ilişkilerinin hangi sosyolojik göstergeler üzerinden yansıtıldığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu doğrultuda, Yiğiter'in yedi hikâye kitabı birincil kaynak olarak seçilmiş, yazarın edebî kişiliği ve eserlerinin şekillendiği tarihsel bağlam da dikkate alınmıştır. Araştırmada edebiyat sosyolojisi, Marksist edebiyat kuramı, Lukács'ın tipik karakter anlayışı ve Goldmann'ın yapısalcı yöntemi temel kuramsal yaklaşımlar olarak belirlenmiştir. Nitel araştırma yöntemi çerçevesinde doküman analizi ve metin çözümlemesi teknikleri kullanılmış; eserlerdeki kişi kadrosu, mekân düzenlemeleri, anlatım teknikleri ve tematik yapılar ayrıntılı olarak incelenmiştir. Yapılan değerlendirmelerde, yazarın hikâyelerinde işçi sınıfının sömürülmesi, taşra memurlarının yalnızlığı ve merkeze karşı konumları, kadınların toplumsal hayattaki rolleri, aile içi çatışmalar, ahlaki yozlaşma, yabancılaşma ve toplumsal dışlanma gibi temaların yoğun biçimde işlendiği görülmüştür. Yiğiter'in eserleri, bireysel dramların ötesine geçerek, Cumhuriyet dönemi Türkiye'sinin sosyo-ekonomik yapısını, kültürel dinamiklerini ve modernleşme sürecinin yarattığı toplumsal gerilimleri görünür kılmıştır. Çalışmada ulaşılan sonuçlar, Yiğiter'in hikâyelerinin yalnızca edebî açıdan değil, aynı zamanda sosyolojik birer belge niteliği taşıdığını ortaya koymaktadır. Böylece, onun eserleri aracılığıyla edebiyatın toplumsal işlevi ve sanatın toplumla ilişkisi yeniden düşünülmekte; edebiyat sosyolojisi açısından kuramsal bir katkı sunulmaktadır.

This thesis explores the works of Umran Nazif Yiğiter, one of the prominent authors of Turkish literature in the Republican period, through the lens of literary sociology and within a comprehensive theoretical framework. The primary aim of the study is to examine how social reality is constructed in Yiğiter's narratives and to identify the sociological indicators through which the relationship between the individual and society is represented. To this end, seven short story collections by the author were selected as primary sources, while literary sociology, Marxist literary theory, Lukács's concept of the 'typical character,' and Goldmann's structuralist method provided the main theoretical foundations. The study employed qualitative research design, utilizing document analysis and textual analysis methods to investigate character portrayals, spatial configurations, narrative strategies, and thematic structures within Yiğiter's works. The findings demonstrate that Yiğiter consistently engages with themes such as the exploitation of the working class, the isolation and marginalization of provincial civil servants, the roles and limitations imposed on women in social life, family conflicts, moral decay, alienation, and social exclusion. Yiğiter's narratives, however, move beyond the boundaries of individual tragedies, offering profound insight into the socio-economic structures, cultural dynamics, and social tensions shaped by modernization in Republican Turkey. The results suggest that his stories not only possess significant literary value but also function as sociological documents, thereby making a meaningful theoretical contribution to understanding the interplay between literature and society. In this respect, Yiğiter's oeuvre illustrates the role of literature as both a mirror and a critique of social reality, underscoring the importance of theoretical approaches in literary sociology.
