Religious Understanding and Worldview in Elective “Basic Religious Knowledge” Lessons

Abstract

In the study, the subject of the elective “Basic Religious Knowledge” (Islam) lesson is examined, and it is aimed to determine the religious understanding that is the subject of teaching in the course books. In this context, the basic framework of the content in the books was determined in terms of the topics covered, and the basic philosophy of the religious understanding aimed at teaching was analyzed as a world view. The qualitative content analysis method was used in the study and the contents of the book were scanned by considering the predetermined categories, themes and concepts. According to the findings of the research, Islamic law was included as a new learning area, many new subjects were included in comparison to the contents of the Religious Culture and Moral Knowledge course, the dimensions of approval and deeds were emphasized in terms of gains, and a balance of form-meaning was achieved in the teaching of prayers. On the other hand, the religious understanding that takes place in the content of the course prioritizes revelation, sunnah and tradition as a source of knowledge, exhibits the understanding of God, universe/being and human being based on revelation and sunnah, emphasizes the life of the Hereafter in relation to the life of the world and is the center of human behavior. It has been determined that it placed the consent of Allah, prioritized sociality over individuality, suggested a specific Islamic society model, and finally displayed the absolute single truth understanding in the face of modern religious pluralism conceptions. With all these qualities, it has been understood that the religious understanding of the Basic Religious Studies course significantly differentiates from the religious education policies set forth throughout the history of the Republic and has built a content centered on the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Araştırmada, seçmeli Temel Dini Bilgiler (İslam) dersi konu edilmiş, derse ait kitaplarda öğretime konu edilen dini anlayışın tespiti amaçlanmıştır. Bu bağlamda kitaplarda yer bulan içeriğin, ele alınan konular itibariyle temel çerçevesi belirlenmiş, öğretimi hedeflenen dini anlayışın bir dünya görüşü olarak temel felsefesi analiz edilmiştir. Araştırmada nitel içerik analizi yöntemi kullanılmış ve kitap içerikleri, önceden belirlenen kategoriler, temalar ve kavramlar dikkate alınarak taranmıştır. Araştırma bulgularına göre içerikte, yeni bir öğrenme alanı olarak İslam hukuku da yer almış, DKAB ders içeriklerine kıyasla birçok yeni konuya yer verilmiş, kazanımlar açısından tasdik ve amel boyutlarına ağırlık verilmiş, ibadetlerin öğretiminde şekil-mana dengesi sağlanmıştır. Diğer yandan derse ait içerikte yer bulan dini anlayışın akıldan ziyade, birer bilgi kaynağı olarak vahyi, sünneti ve geleneği öncelediği, vahiy ve sünnete dayandırılan bir Allah, evren/varlık ve insan anlayışı sergilediği, dünya hayatına nispetle Ahiret hayatını ön plana çıkardığı ve insan davranışlarının merkezine Allah rızasını yerleştirdiği, bireysellikten çok toplumsallığı öncelediği, belirli bir İslami toplum modeli önerdiği ve nihayet modern dini çoğulculuk anlayışları karşısında mutlak tek hakikat anlayışını sergilediği tespit edilmiştir. Bütün bu nitelikleriyle Temel Dini Bilgiler dersine ait dini anlayışın, Cumhuriyet tarihi boyunca sergilenen din eğitimi politikalarından önemli oranda farklılaşarak Kur’an ve sünnet merkezli bir içerik inşa ettiği anlaşılmıştır.
