KIZLARIN OKULA ERİŞİM VE DEVAM ORANLARININ ARTIRILMASI: İKNA SÜRECİ

Abstract

Geleneksel nedenlerin yanı sıra eğitimde artan değer kaybı, eğitimli işsiz sayısının artışı, sosyal, kültürel gibi nedenler kızların okullaştırılması önünde engel oluşturmaktadır. Bu engellerin etkisinin minimize edilmesine yönelik gerek ulusal gerek uluslararası bağlamda birçok etkinlik ve kampanya yürütülmektedir. Bu bağlamda kızların okullaştırılmasını artırmak için yeni yöntem ve teknikler işe koşulmaktadır. Bu tekniklerden biri de ikna sürecidir. Bu araştırmanın amacı, kız çocuklarının okullaştırılmasında ikna tekniklerinin etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Bu araştırmada, nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden eylem araştırması yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Yarı yapılandırılmış gözlem, doküman incelemesi ve yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme yöntemleriyle veriler toplanmıştır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu, ölçüt örneklem yöntemiyle belirlenen Mardin ilinin Midyat ilçesindeki 20 eğitim koçundan oluşmaktadır. On bir eğitim koçuyla yarı yapılandırılmış görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Eğitim koçları, ikna sürecinde 400 kız öğrenciye ve 300 aileye ulaşmışlardır. Bu görüşmelerde katılımcılara, projenin etkililiği, kız çocuklarının okullaşmasındaki dirençler, kız çocuklarının okullaştırılmasında kullanılan ikna türleri gibi konuları içeren dokuz soru sorulmuştur. Veriler, betimsel analiz ve içerik analizi teknikleriyle çözümlenmiştir. Araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; ikna sürecinden sonra kız öğrencilerin başarısı, okula devam oranlarının ve okullaşma oranlarının arttığı, okul-aile arasında işbirliğinin geliştiği görülmüştür. Kız çocuklarının okullaşmasına yönelik birçok girişim ve çabaya karşın kızların önemli bir oranı hala okul dışındadır. Dolayısıyla, kızların okullaştırılmasına ilişkin etkili bir rehberlik, toplu bir ikna süreci ve güçlü bir kampanya yürütülmesine halen ihtiyaç vardır.

In addition to traditional, social and cultural reasons, factors such as value loss in education, increasing number of the educated unemployed have become barriers against the girls’ schooling. Several activities and campaigns in both national and international context have been carried in order to decrease the effects of these barriers. New techniques and methods are being put into action to increase the rate of girls’ schooling. One of these techniques is persuasion process. The purpose of the current study is to determine the effects of persuasion techniques on girls’ schooling. Action research which is one of the qualitative researches was used in the present study. The data of the study were collected through semi-structured interview, document review and semi-structured observation methods. The study group consisted of 20 education coaches living in Midyat, Mardin province. They were chosen depending on the criteria sampling technique. Also, semi structured interviews were conducted with 11 education coaches. Education coaches reached 400 girls and 300 families during persuasion process. During these interviews, 9 questions about the effectiveness of the project, resistances against the girls’ schooling and persuasion types used for girls’ schooling were asked to participants. Descriptive and content analysis techniques were used to analyze the data. According to the results of the current study, it was seen that girl’s success, the rate of girls’ schooling and their attendance to the school increased and also the cooperation between school and family got better after the persuasion process. In spite of many attempts and efforts for girls’ schooling, the considerable rate of girls is still out of the school. Thus, there is still a necessity for an effective guidance, a collective persuasion process and carrying a powerful campaign for girls’ schooling.
