The Role of Heterodox Kurdish Belief in the Period of Rivalry between Sultan SelimI and Shah Ismail I: Based on the Selimshahname ofIdris-i Bitlisi

Abstract

This article focuses on the role of the Kurds in the Safavid State during its establishment and restructuring period and aims to describe the influence of the Kurds on Shah Ismail Safavi ’s achievements and acquisition of power. The Ottomans reacted in a serious and multi-faceted way to the actively ideological and strategic role and assistance of the Kurds as regards Shah Ismail’s ascension to the throne. This period also inaugurates the beginning of a history of the Kurds who remained in the territories of the Ottoman State. Of the sources on this period, the Selimshahname of İdris-i Bitlisi is undoubtedly the most important.

Bu makale kuruluş ve yapılanma döneminde Safevi Devletininde Kürtlerin rölüne odaklanmış bir makaledir ve Kürtlerin Şah İsmail Safevi’nin gücü elde etmesindeki etkisini ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Osmanlı Devleti, Kürtlerin Şah İsmail’in tahta çıkışındaki aktif ideolojik ve stratejik rol ve etkisine ciddi ve çok yönlü tepki göstererek Kürtlerin bu siyasi tercihi karşısında maksimum emilim minimal itim siyaseti izlemiştir. Sözkonusu dönem Osmanlı İmparatorluğu sahasında kalan Kürtlerin tarihinde de önemli bir başlangıcı ifade eder ve bu başlangıcın işlendiği temel eserlerin başında da Selimnameler gelir. Selimnamelerin kahir ekseriyetinde Sultan Selim’in Doğu seferi ve İran ile ilişkileri ve Şah İsmail’le yaşanan gerilimli süreçler önemli yer kaplar. Bu selimnameler arasında Kürtler ve Kürt tarihi açısından ise en önemlisi kuşkusuz ihtiva ettiği konu başlıkları ve siyasal yaklaşımların ayrıntılı bilgileri ile İdris-i Bitlisi’ye ait Selimşahname’dir
