SINIF ÖĞRETMENLERİNİN GÖRÜŞLERİNE GÖRE OKUL MÜDÜRLERİNİN TOKSİK LİDERLİK DAVRANIŞLARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Abstract

Toksik liderlik son yıllarda üzerinde durulan liderlik türlerinden bir tanesi olmuştur. Okulların toplumun önemli kurumlarının başında gelmesi, okul yöneticilerinin toksik liderlik özelliklerinin araştırılmasını gerekli kılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı sınıf öğretmenlerinin görüşlerine göre okul müdürlerinin toksik liderlik davranışları değerlendirmektir. Bu amaç kapsamında sınıf öğretmenlerinin görüşlerine göre okul müdürlerinin toksik liderlik davranışlarının ne düzeyde olduğu ve okul müdürlerinin toksik liderlik davranışlarına ilişkin görüşleri çeşitli değişkenler açısından değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada nicel araştırma yönteminin modellerinden birisi olan tarama yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Örneklem seçiminde basit seçkisiz örneklem tekniğinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi 84’ü kadın, 99’u erkek olmak üzere 183 sınıf öğretmeninden oluşmaktadır. Araştırma verilerinin toplanmasında Toksik Liderlik Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Toksik Liderlik Ölçeği 30 madde ve 4 alt boyuttan oluşmaktadır. Verilerin analizinde SPSS paket programı kullanılmıştır. Veri analizinde ortalama, frekans, yüzde, t-testi, ANOVA ve Tukey testi analizleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın bulguları incelendiğinde; sınıf öğretmenlerinin, okul müdürlerinin toksik liderlik davranışlarına ilişkin görüşerinin “Katılıyorum” düzeyinde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Öğretmen görüşleri arasında cinsiyete ve mezuniyet durumuna göre anlamlı fark bulunamamıştır. Yöneticilik yapma durumuna göre sadece değerbilmezlik alt boyutunda, yaş değişkenine göre bencillik alt boyutunda, hizmet yılı değişkenine göre ise olumsuz ruh hali alt boyutunda anlamlı fark bulunmuştur).

Toxic leadership has been one of the types of leadership that has been emphasized in recent years. The fact that schools are one of the most important institutions of the society has made it necessary to investigate the toxic leadership characteristics of school administrators. The aim of this study is to evaluate the toxic leadership behaviors of school principals according to the opinions of classroom teachers. Within the scope of this purpose, the level of school principals' toxic leadership behaviors according to the opinions of classroom teachers and the opinions of school principals on toxic leadership behaviors were evaluated in terms of various variables. The survey method, which is one of the models of the quantitative research method, was used in the research. Simple random sampling technique was used in sample selection. The sample of the study consists of 183 classroom teachers, 84 of whom are female and 99 are male. Toxic Leadership Scale was used to collect research data. The Toxic Leadership Scale consists of 30 items and 4 sub-dimensions. SPSS package program was used in the analysis of the data. Mean, frequency, percentage, t-test, ANOVA and Tukey test analyzes were used in data analysis. When the findings of the research are examined; It was determined that the opinions of the classroom teachers about the toxic leadership behaviors of the school principals were at the level of "I agree". There was no significant difference between teachers' opinions according to gender and graduation status. A significant difference was found only in the unworthiness sub-dimension according to the managerial status, in the selfishness sub-dimension according to the age variable, and in the negative mood subdimension according to the years of service variable.
