COVİD-19 salgınının Batman ilindeki özel spor işletmeleri üzerindeki etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi: Bir vaka çalışması

Abstract

Tarihsel süreçte insanlar çeşitli doğal afetler ve salgın hastalıklarla karşı karşıya kalmışlardır. Özellikle salgın hastalık dönemlerinde toplumlar çeşitli strateji ve yöntemlerle salgınla mücadele etmeye çalışmışlardır. Bu mücadelede alınan tedbirler bazen salgınların yayılımının önlenmesine engel olmuş bazen de istenilen düzeyde etkili olamamıştır. En son küresel ölçekli olarak yaşadığımız Covid-19 salgını da hayatın her alanında yeni zorluklar getirmiş, tüm dünyada salgının önüne geçilmeye çalışılmıştır. Salgın kapsamında alınan tedbirler; başta ülke ekonomileri olmak üzere eğitimden sosyal hayata kadar toplumun her kesimini ve ilgili sektörleri olumsuz etkilemiştir. Tüm sektörlerde olduğu gibi spor sektörü de Covid-19 salgınından büyük ölçüde etkilenmiş ve en fazla katma değer kaybeden sektörlerden biri haline gelmiştir. Uluslararası büyük spor etkinlikleri başta olmak üzere birçok spor organizasyonun ertelenmesi ve iptali söz konusu olmuştur. Sektörel bazlı olarak özel spor işletmeleri ve rekreasyon merkezleri de salgın riskinin yoğun olduğu yerler arasında olması nedeniyle çalışmalarına ara vermek zorunda kalmışlardır. Bu araştırmada da Covid-19 salgınının Batman ilindeki özel spor işletmeleri üzerindeki etkilerinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Nitel araştırma yönteminden görüşme tekniğinin kullanıldığı bu araştırmanın çalışma evrenini; Covid-19 pandemi sürecinde Batman İl Merkezinde Gençlik ve Spor İl Müdürlüğünün gözetimi ve denetiminde fitness-vücut geliştirme, his-wellness ve jimnastik branşlarında hizmet veren toplam 13 özel spor işletmesi oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu ile toplanmıştır. Üç bölümden oluşan formunun birinci bölümünde işletmecilerin kişisel bilgilerini içeren dört adet demografik soru, ikinci bölümünde özel spor işletmesinin faaliyet alanı ile ilgili yedi soru, üçüncü bölümünde ise dört adet yapılandırılmış bir adet de yapılandırılmamış soru olmak üzere beş adet soru bulunmaktadır. Araştırmanın iç geçerliğini sağlamak amacıyla elde edilen bulgular, spor işletmesi ve yönetim alanında uzman iki kişi tarafından okunarak ana tema oluşturulmuştur. Araştırmadan elde edilen verilerin çözümünde; nitel veri analizi yöntemlerinden; betimsel ve içerik analizi teknikleri kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada; "finansal problemler", "psikolojik problemler" ve "belirsizlik" olmak üzere üç ana tema ve bu temalar altında yer alan dokuz alt tema başlıklarında özel spor işletmelerinin Covid-19 salgınından etkilendikleri bulguları elde edilmiştir. Covid-19 salgınının Batman ilindeki özel spor işletmeleri üzerinde başta finansal sıkıntılar olmak üzere, psikolojik problemler ve işletme yönetiminde belirsizlik yaşama şeklinde etkilerinin olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Özel spor işletmelerinin en çok ekonomik yönde olumsuz etkilenmeleri nedeniyle finansal problemler yaşamalarının beraberinde psikolojik problemleri ve belirsizlikleri getirmesi dikkati çekmiştir.Human beings have come across various natural disasters and epidemics throughout history. Especially during epidemics, societies struggled to cope with the epidemic with multiple strategies and methods. Although the measures taken in those struggles sometimes prevented the spread of epidemics, they were sometimes ineffective at the desired level. The latest COVID-19 epidemic experienced on a global basis also led to new challenges in all areas of life, the epidemic was strived to be prevented all over the world. Precautions for the epidemic adversely affected all parts of the society and related sectors from education to social life, especially the national economies. As in all sectors, the sports sector was affected by the Covid-19 epidemic at a great rate and became one of the sectors that lost the most added value. Many sports organizations; particularly the major ones were either postponed or cancelled. Based on sectorial basis, private sports businesses and recreation centres had to hold a break for functioning since they were among the places where the risk of epidemic was intense. In the current study, it is aimed to evaluate the effects of the Covid-19 outbreak on private sports businesses in Batman. The scope of this research, in which the interview technique from the qualitative research method is employed; includes a total of 13 private sports businesses providing services in the branches of fitness-bodybuilding, feeling-wellness and gymnastics under the supervision and control of the Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports in Batman City Centre during the Covid-19 pandemic. The data of the current study are obtained via a semi-structured interview form. This form consists of three parts, and there are four demographic questions containing the personal information of the operators in the first part; seven questions about the field of activity of the private sports business in the second part; and five questions: four structured ones and an unstructured one in the third part. In order to ensure text validity of the study, the main theme is formed via the analysis of the findings by two experts in the field of sports business and management. For the data analysis of the research; descriptive and content analysis techniques in qualitative data analysis methods are employed. In this study, it is found that private sports businesses are affected by the Covid-19 epidemic under three main themes, namely "financial problems", "psychological problems" and "uncertainty", and nine sub-themes within them. It is concluded that the Covid-19 epidemic has effects on private sports businesses in Batman, primarily financial problems, psychological problems and uncertainty in business management. It is noticeable that private sports businesses are mostly affected in the economic direction negatively, and experiencing those effects of financial problems leads to psychological problems and uncertainties.
