Değişen Epistemeler Bağlamında Foucault Felsefesinin Analizi

Abstract

Foucault felsefe tarihinde pek de görülmemiş bir biçimde delilik, cezalandırma pratikleri ve cinsellik gibi hâkim bilgi kalıplarının dışında kalan alanları incelemiş ve bu alanlardan yola çıkarak bir iktidar analizi geliştirmeyi hedeflemiştir. Cezalandırma pratikleri ve delilik deneyi konularında arkeolojik bir çalışma gerçekleştiren Foucault cinsellik konusunda ise soykütüksel bir çalışma pratiği sergileyerek bahsettiği kavramların tarihsel süreçte nasıl ve neden değişime uğradığını araştırmıştır. Tezimiz ise Foucault'nun bu çalışmalarını toplumsal epistemelerde yaşanan dönüşümler ışığında ele alacaktır. Ekonomik episteme anlamında feodalizmden kapitalizme geçişi ele alan çalışmamız siyasisi episteme bakımında da monarşilerden demokratik cumhuriyetlere geçişi ve dolayısıyla iradesini tanrıdan alan kral fikrinin ortadan kalkışını incelemektedir. Siyasi epistemeyle de beraber okunabilecek biçimde hukuk, tıp, iktidar gibi sosyal ve doğal bilimlerden dini algının çıkışını dini epistemenin değişimi olarak inceleyen tezimiz bahsedilen üç epistemik dönüşümün Foucault felsefesine etkisini tartışmaktadır. Cezalandırma pratiğinin ekonomik, dini ve siyasi epistemelerdeki dönüşümlerden etkilenerek azap tipi cezalandırmadan bedeni disipline etmeyi hedefleyen panoptik hapsetmeye dönüştüğünü belirten tezimiz delilik deneyi konusunda da yine toplumsal epistemelerdeki dönüşümlerden etkilenerek delinin toplumdan dışlanan biçiminin nasıl tıbbın bir konusu haline geldiğini araştırmaktadır. Cinselliğin bireyin denetlenerek disipline edilmesinin bir formu olduğunu belirten tezimiz tarihsel süreç içerisinde bu denetim ve disiplin uygulamalarının bir süreklilik arz ettiğini belirmektedir. Bireyin denetlenerek disipline edilmesinin toplumsal epistemelerin farklı dönemlerinde ne türde şekilde gerçekleştiğini araştıran tezimiz son kertede biyopolitikayı analiz ederek Foucault'cu iktidar analizini toplumsal epistemeler ışığında ortaya koymaktadır.

Foucault, in a manner uncommon in the history of philosophy, examined areas outside dominant knowledge paradigms such as madness, practices of punishment, and sexuality. He aimed to develop a power analysis based on these areas. While conducting an archaeological study on practices of punishment and the experience of madness, Foucault demonstrated a genealogical research practice concerning sexuality. He investigated how and why the concepts he discussed underwent changes in the historical process. Our thesis will consider Foucault's work in the context of transformations in societal epistemes. Our study, addressing the transition from feudalism to capitalism in economic episteme, also examines the transition from monarchies to democratic republics in terms of political episteme, thereby exploring the disappearance of the idea of kingship derived from God's will. In conjunction with the political episteme, our work can be read to analyze the emergence of legal, medical, and power-related aspects, as well as the transformation of religious perception as a change in religious episteme. Our thesis discusses the impact of these three epistemic transformations on Foucault's philosophy. Our thesis asserts that the practice of punishment, influenced by transformations in economic, religious, and political epistemes, evolved from a type of punitive suffering to panoptic confinement, aiming to discipline the body. Regarding the experience of madness, our thesis investigates how the societal transformations in epistemes led to the exclusion of the mad from society, eventually turning it into a subject of medicine. Highlighting that the control and discipline of individuals is a form of sexuality, our thesis asserts the continuity of these control and discipline practices throughout the historical process. Investigating how the control and discipline of individuals took place in different periods of societal epistemes, our thesis ultimately analyzes biopolitics, presenting Foucauldian power analysis in the light of societal epistemes.
