Paulo Freire ve Eğitim Felsefesi

Abstract

Eğitim, insanın varoluşundan beri devam eden bir etkinliktir. Bireylere, tüm yönleri ile gelişebil- me imkânı sunan bu faaliyet tarih boyunca fark- lı uygarlıklar ve düşünce insanları tarafından ele alınmıştır. İnsanın bilme ihtiyacından doğmuş bir disiplin olan felsefe de insanı konu alır ve özünde sorgulama, analiz etme gibi kavramları barındıran zihinsel bir süreçtir. ‘’Ne için, nasıl ve ne tür bir insan yetiştirmeliyiz?’’ soruları eğitim ve felsefeyi bir araya getiren önemli bir köprüdür. Felsefe, eği- timin düşünsel yapısını oluşturmaktadır. Eğitimin tüm yönleri ile düşünülmesi ve ideolojik, politik, sosyolojik ve felsefi açılardan ele alınması için eleştirel bir yaklaşıma ihtiyaç vardır. Bireyin ha- yatında geniş bir yer tutan eğitim kavramını sor- gulaması, onun toplumsal kurumlarla ilişkisini an- lamaya çalışması ve bu ilişkiler sonucunda ortaya çıkan sorunları fark etmesi onu kendi yaşamında söz sahibi yapar. Eğitime eleştirel bir pencereden bakan eleştirel pedagoji de bunu amaçlar. Eğitimin daha demokratik ve insani bir şekle bürünmesi, bireyin doğasını ve özgürlüğünü merkeze alması bakımından eleştirel pedagoji alanının eğitim an- layışını iyi kavramak ve bu alanın en önemli tem- silcilerinden biri olan Paulo Freire’in eğitim konu- sundaki görüşlerini ortaya koymak gerekmektedir. Freire’nin klasik eğitime yönelttiği eleştiriler ve kişinin bağımsızlığını kazanmasına yardımcı ola- cak eğitimin nasıl gerçekleştirilebileceğine dair görüşlerinin incelenmesi ile okuyuculara eğitim kavramı ile ilgili yeni bir bakış açısı kazandırmak hedeflenmektedir.Education is an activity that has been proce- eding since human existence. This activity, whi- ch offers individuals the opportunity to develop themselves in all aspects, has been handled by dif- ferent civilizations and philosophers throughout history. Philosophy, which is a discipline born out of the human need for knowing, also focuses on human and it is a mental process that includes con- cepts such as questioning and analyzing in its es- sence. The question of “What, how and what kind of person should we raise?” is an important brid- ge that brings education and philosophy together. Philosophy forms the intellectual structure of edu- cation. A critical approach is needed to consider education from all views and to be addressed from ideological, political, sociological and philosophi- cal perspectives. The individual’s questioning the concept of education, which has a wide place in his life, trying to understand his relationship with social institutions and noticing the problems that arise as a result of these relations make him have a say in his own life. Critical pedagogy, which looks at education through a critical perspective, aims at this. It is necessary to understand the edu- cational understanding of the field of critical pe- dagogy well. Paulo Freire, who is one of the most significant representatives of this field, studied on education, in terms of making education more de- mocratic and humane and centered on the nature and freedom of the individual. It is aimed to give readers a new perspective on the concept of educa- tion by examining Freire’s criticisms of traditional education and her/his views on how education that will help the development of a free individual be.
