Abstract
This study aims to examine the sociological relationship between artificial intelligence and the subjectivity. The impact of artificial intelligence developments, felt in various areas of society, reopens the discussion of the subjectivity, a significant concept in modern thought. From this perspective, the study revolves around the questions of whether artificial intelligence strengthens, weakens, transforms, or reconstructs the subjectivity. The subjectivity is addressed through feminism, animal studies, philosophical approaches, and finally, Marxist theory. These approaches are linked to artificial intelligence and related discussions on cyborgization, posthumanism, transhumanism, automation, digital labor, and Big Data. As a qualitative theoretical study, the research relies on a systematic literature review and conceptual analysis. In this context, conceptual relationships between different theoretical approaches are developed, and the relationship between artificial intelligence and the subjectivity is addressed in a multidimensional way. The findings of the study show that artificial intelligence neither eliminates the subjectivity in a one-dimensional way nor, conversely, strengthens it. Conversely, it is emphasized that the subjectivity is reconstructed within the framework of body, labor, consciousness, sociality, and power relations in a contradictory and multifaceted process. While artificial intelligence erodes the biological and cognitive boundaries of the subjectivity through cyborgization and posthumanist transformations, it also produces new forms of domination through data-driven surveillance, algorithmic manipulation/interpellation, and digital labor. Therefore, this study argues that the subjectivity in contact with artificial intelligence is undergoing a new historical transformation phase. Keywords: Subjectivity Theories, Artificial Intelligence, Cyborg, Posthumanism, Transhumanism, Automation
