    In Arabic-Islamic history along with the advent of Islam, scientific studies that started with the Ahl al-Suffa, and the culture of self-commitment to science and truth in this manner continued in the later periods, leading to the emergence of scholars and the revealing of important works. Islamic scholars have made important studies throughout the history in the Islamic sciences as well as the scientific sciences and pioneered important discoveries and scientific studies that have enlightened humanity to these days. In the modern period, many studies have been carried out in both the East and the West about Arabic-Islamic culture and science. Fuat Sezgin has put forward the most important and most remarkable works in this field. The most important issues that differentiate Fuat Sezgin from other scientists working in this field are that he brought the West and the East together in a culturally common area, and, with his works he avoided, albeit relatively, the wrong perceptions of the Arabic-Islamic culture in the West.

    MODERN DÖNEM HRİSTİYAN ARAP ŞAİRLERİN ŞİİRİNDE HZ. MUHAMMED ÖVGÜSÜ

    Klasik dönemden modern döneme uzanan süreç içinde Arap şiirinin en önemli konularından biri Hz. Peygamber’in methi konusudur. İslam öncesi dönemden başlayarak, modern döneme varıncaya kadar Hz. Muhammed birçok şair tarafından övülmüştür. Hz. Muhammed’in övüldüğü şiirlerin içinde en dikkat çekici olanları arasında, özellikle mehcer edebiyatının önde gelen Hristiyan Arap şairlerinin farklı sebeplerle yazdıkları şiirler yer alır. Bu şairlerden bir kısmı, Hz. Muhammed’i, Arapları cehalet ve karanlıktan aydınlığa ve medeniyete kavuşturan bir lider; İslam’ı Arap ülkelerinin içinde bulunduğu buhranlardan kurtaracak bir din olarak görmüş, bir kısmı ise milliyetçilik, kadim Arap kültürüne duyulan özlem, toplumsal değerlere sahip çıkma isteği gibi sebep ve saikalarla Hz. Peygamber’i öven şiirler yazmışlardır. Bu makalede, gerek mehcer edebiyatı şairlerinden, gerekse farklı Arap ülkelerindeki şairlerden Hz. Muhammed’e methiyeler yazan Hristiyan Arap şairlerin şiirlerine ve bu şiirleri yazma sebeplerine değinilecektir.
