In this study, were determined level of Pb, Zn, Cd and Ni in Suaeda prostrata subsp. prostrata Pall. which is spread in Ayvalık Saltern is partaking Izmir-Canakkale highway. Analysis were done by using Perkin Elmer Analyst 700 Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (FAAS) device. The root, stem, leaves and cultivation soil of plant was formed material of this study. Sampling, were done 8 station which is determined on the soil dam is surrounding saltern. Through 12 months, samples regulary receipt from every station. As a result of all analysis, we saw the level Pb <0.001-1.026 ppm, Zn 0.016-1.389 ppm, Cd <0.001-0.166 ppm and Ni 0.006-0.809 ppm in the soil Pb 0.523-1.599 ppm, Zn 0.143-1.248 ppm, Cd 0.006-0.298 ppm and Ni 0.112-1.098 ppm... The fact that the results İn the analysis are below the limit values is because of the fact that the dominant diraction of the wind is North-west (through Tuzla motorway), there aren’t any crossroads or signalization on the motorway on the soutern part of Tuzla and there aren’t any industrial plants having polluting effects.

In this study, six taxa of the genus Smyrnium L. (Apiaceae) Smyrnium olusatrum L, S. perfoliatum L. subsp. perfoliatum, S. perfoliatum Mill. subsp. rotundifolium, S. cordifolium Boiss., S. connatum Boiss & Kotschy and S. creticum Mill. were investigated. Specimens were collected from the field and general morphology of every taxa was drawn. Especially micromorphological surface characteristics of mericarps were investigated by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and mericarp characters of each taxa were examined by using light microscopy and quantitative analysis was done because of the mericarp characters importance in systematic. Based on these data, the mericarp’s features were added to the identification key in addition to the characters used in differentiating the species in the Flora of Turkey.

A palynological study of the genus Smyrnium (Umbelliferae) from Turkey

In this study, the pollen morphology and exine structure of six taxa of the genus Smyrnium L. (Umbelliferae) were investigated using light microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Eight micromorphological characters (pollen shape, apocolpium, mesocolpium, polar length, equatorial width, exine thickness, colpus length and colpus width) of pollen grains of Smyrnium have been identified. The palynological observations revealed that pollen grains of all studied taxa of Smyrnium were prolate in shape and posses tricolporate aperture. Tectal surface sculpture was not a good criterion to identify particular taxa from Smyrnium. The pollen of which is characterized by rugulate, the pollen ornamentation was similar in all studied taxa. In addition the taxa could be included in subrectangular pollen type as classified by Cerceau – Larrival
