Article Examining Elementary School Students’ Scientific Process Skills Levels(Disiplinlerarası Eğitim ve Araştırma Derneği, 2020) İşıker, Yakub; Emre, İrfanWith the preparation of the science curricula in our country in accordance with constructivism, scientific process skills have also gained importance. The examination of science curricula revealed that scientific process skills are either considered as a separate learning area or classified as field-specific skills. In this context, scientific process skills are defined as skills that enable students to learn science while actively involving in the learning process and conducting research appropriate for their age. Individuals with these skills are aware of how scientific research is conducted and solve problems they encounter during a daily life by using these skills. In this respect, it is critical to teach scientific process skills to students starting from an early age. To this end, this study aims to determine third and fourth grade students’ scientific process skills. The participants consisted of 147 third and fourth grade students. For data collection, the basic skills scale with 31 items was administered to the participants. Third- and fourth-year students participated in the study. Frequencies and percentages were calculated and One-way analysis of multiple variances (MANOVA) were conducted to identify gender and grade level differences. For analysis, the SPSS 21.0 (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) program was used. The results revealed that while there was no significant difference based on grade level, a significant difference was observed in favor of female students in terms of scientific process skills.Article The Impact of Argumentation-Based Instruction on Academic Achievements and Scientific Process Skills of Primary School Students and Their Attitudes towards the Science Course(Durmuş BURAK, 2021) Işıker, Yakub; Emre, İrfanThe present study aimed to investigate the effect of argumentation-based instruction on academic achievements, scientific process skills of primary school 4th grade students and their attitudes towards the science course. The study was designed as a quasi-experimental research, and the study group included 47 4th grade students during the 2016-2017 academic year. Academic achievement test, scientific process skills test and attitudes towards science course scale were used as pre-tests and post-tests in the study to collect data. Independent groups t-test, paired groups t-test, Mann Whitney U test and arithmetic mean, standard deviation, frequency and percentage analysis were employed to analyze the study data, and .05 confidence interval was accepted as significant. The study findings demonstrated that argumentation-based instruction had a positive impact on academic achievements and scientific process skills of 4th grade primary school students; and the instruction led to a significant difference that favored the experimental group in attitudes towards the science course.Article The Relationship Between Mobbing (Psychological Violence) and Burnout in Preschool Education Institutions(SEEK DIGITAL LIBRARY, 2015) Turhan Muhammed; Ergel AbdülbakiThe main aim of this study is to determine the relationship between mobbing incurred by preschool teachers and their burnout level. The sample of the study is consisted of preschool teahers who work in pre-schools and nursery classes in the province of Mardin, Turkey. The study was conducted on 396 Pre-school teachers working in different schools which give preschool education. The data was collected by using the scales of “Negative Acts Questionnaires” (NAQ) [1, 2]. and “Burnout Inventory” [3, 4]. To analyze the data frequency, percentage, mean, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis techniques were used. According to research findings; it was concluded that mobbing incurred by preschool teachers is positively associated with their burnout level. Additionally, considering multiple regression analysis, mobbing is a significant predictor of burnout level of teachers.Article The effect of the mathematics bag early education program(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Ergel, Abdülbaki; Aydogan, YaseminIn this study, the effect of the Mathematics Bag Early Education Program (MAcEP) on the mathematics skills (number/counting, geometry, measurement) of 57-69-month-old preschool children was investigated. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest, posttest, follow-up test, and control group were used in the study. The study group consisted of 22 children attending preschool education and their parents. In the study, MACEP was applied to the experimental group in the form of 50 activities for 12 wk outside the preschool education program. Data were collected using the Early Mathematics Test (EMAT) and Parent Focus Group Interview Form. Mann Whitney U Test, Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Friedman Test and content analysis were used to analyze the data. At the end of the study, it was determined that MACEP effectively improved the mathematics skills (number/counting, geometry, measurement) of 57-69-month-old children in the experimental group and the retention continued after the experimental period.
