Article Analysis of Student Learning in Differential Equations Learning Area Based on Various Variables: The Case of Turkey and Ghana(Karbey Yayıncılık Eğitim ve Danışmanlık Hiz. San. Tic. Ltd. Şti. Kesit Yayınları, 2021) İnan, Cemil; Pişkin, Erhan; Bonyah, Ebenezer; İnan, CemilDevelopment of mathematical models for problems experienced in study areas is important for improvement in almost all scientific fields. The solution of a problem requires development of a mathematical equation (or a mathematical model) based on the properties of the problem in certain disciplines. Such an equation is generally a function with one unknown and an equation that includes the derivative (or differential) of this function. The equation which contains a function and its finite derivatives, is called a differential equation (Pisces 2018). The present study aimed to analyze the learning of college students in differential functions based on various variables in Turkey and that of Ghana. The study was conducted in two faculties of a public university (Engineering and Education Faculties) for a year in differential equations course on 300 students’ exams and applications for Turkey. The achievements of those students were analyzed based on the problems experienced by the students, the conceptual comprehension and operational comprehension, reasoning skills, misconceptions, transition between representations, and basic mathematics knowledge variables. A similar study was carried out in a faculty of technical education in Ghana with 300 students’ examination and application and their results were analyzed as it was done in the case of Turkey. The present study for the two countries adopted a descriptive approach based on screening models. Since it was possible to reach the whole population in the study for the two countries, the complete census method was used. The main difficulties experienced by the students in each country were determined as follows: inability to conduct the operations or to conduct incorrect operations due to the lack of basic mathematical knowledge, student focus on operational comprehension instead of conceptual comprehension, inability or indecision of the students in establishing the correlation between the algebraic and graphic representations of the differential equation in transfers between representations, misconception that dependent variable should always be identified by y and independent variable should always be identified by x (this could be due to a teacher habit), and although dx-2xydy2yey2dy could be easily solved by linearization, students’ preference to attempt to find the integral multiplier, leading to calculation errors. These difficulties were similar in within the two countries as if they were taught by same instructors. It can be argued that the achievements increased in the two groups of students when the applications that would eliminate these difficulties were conducted in the following topics, however a comprehensive study should be initiated to eliminate the lack of basic mathematical knowledge, and it would even be beneficial to study the OSYM selection system. It could be suggested that calculus as a concept should be taken serious to build the two groups of students competencies in differential equations.Article Approximation To Generalized Taylor Derivatives By Integral Operator Families(MSU J. of Sci, 2017) AKIN, Lutfi; Zeren, YusufThis theory has important applications of polynomial approximation in various areas of functional analysis, Fourier analysis, application mathematic, operator theory, in the field generalized derivatives and numerical solutions of differential and integral equations, etc. The study of approximation theory is a well-established area of research which deals with the problem of approximating a function f by means of a sequence n L of positive linear operators. As methodology, comperative analysis will be followed. Further, qualitative method, inductive approach based on a case study and interview data collection method were conducted in order to have reliable data to provide robust analysis. The case study data were collected from 20 small and medium sized Turkish companies exporting to Europe and Middle East regarding their international business activity in order to get direct information by addressing open ended questions to the firm owners. As concluded from interview data, internal factors in the firm level and managerial levels have positive impact on export activities of companies exporting to Europe. Moreover, technological and political environment as external factors have positive effect on export performance of firms as well, whereas economic, social and cultural environment may have some negative effects on the firms. In the firm analysis that export to Middle East countries, some of firm level and managerial level factors have positive effects on the performance while some of them effects it negatively. Additionally, political environment and firms’ technological capabilities have negative effect on export of firms. Unlike the firms exporting European region, social and cultural environment favourably effect export performance of Turkish SMEs that export to Middle East countries.Article Determination of Factors Affecting Consumers’ Bulgur Consumption Preferences(Anemon Muş Alparslan Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Dergisi, 2022) Kayaoğlu, Ahmet; Gülmez, Yavuz SelimThis research aims to determine the factors affecting the bulgur consumption preferences of consumers. The research, based on planned behaviour theory, focused on the impact of the refugee context on those intentions and thus on the attitudes and behaviour of entrepreneurs. The study is based on the positivist paradigm, and a quantitative methodology was used to collect data. We preferred the method of convenience sampling and chose 122 entrepreneurial projects at the beginning of 2020. The results show that psychological characteristics have no significant impact. Motivation, conviction, and independence are not sufficient conditions for the choice of an entrepreneurial profession. Self-standards do not affect the entrepreneurial intentions of refugees, as support from family and friends may not be sufficient reason to engage in an entrepreneurial project. However, entrepreneurship emerged among the refugees distinguished by perseverance, efficiency, a spirit of innovation, prior experience, adequate perceptions of barriers, and having the resources needed to implement projects. The refugee context has a negative emotional impact on entrepreneurship for reasons related to conditions of instability, language difficulties, the need for capital to invest, and a lack of entrepreneurial knowledge. The research findings can be used to support the role of humanitarian organisations, UN agencies, and host governments in developing a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial intentions in the refugee context. © 2021 by the authors.
