Conference Object CUMHURİYET DÖNEMİ MARDİN BASININDAN BİR ÖRNEK: ULUS SESİ GAZETESİ(Atatürk Kültür, Dil ve Tarih Yüksek Kurum Atatürk Araştırma Merkezi Yayınları, 2016) Fedai, AyselThe most common and the most effective ones among the social and local press communication tools are doubtlessly newspapers. In Turkey, lots of newspaper and magazine are published and through these newspapers and magazines the enlightenment of the people is provided. Besides the national newspapers published in nationwide and big city centers, in some places regional (local) newspapers also exist. These newspapers are quite a lot in our day in terms of ad-dressing to the province and the districts where they are present. These newspapers published with countless difficulties in various cit-ies, districts and towns of Anatolia and named as local press, fulfilled the duty of enlightening the society beginning from the period they are published and involved closely with the problems of the region where they are published in. At the same time, in these press works, it is also possible to see social, political, financial etc. characteristics of the region. In this respect, local press as well as the national press constituted an important source basis by social scientists. Local press organs are the mirrors of the region where they are present. While the press organs, that voice the problems of the re-gion where they are published in and are eye and ear of the people, constitute the agenda of the region, they also contribute to the public opinion creation. By this reason, local newspapers and other press organs take a very important place in the regions where they are present. In this context, particularly after the proclamation of the Republic, like it was in many parts of the Anatolia, in Mardin as well local press works began. Mardin brought a printing press for the first time in Turkish press history, and in 1927 the Mardin vilayet prin-ting house was established. The Ulus Sesi newspaper is one of the most important local newspapers that was born in Diyarbakir on 1 August 1927 and named after the People's Fellowship and started to appear in Mardin in the tenth year of 1936, day after day, in Şanlıurfa. In this study, analysis of “Mardin Ulus Sesi” newspaper that we consider as first hand source regarding the history of Mardin and its environment was carried out, the newspaper’s characteristics such as purpose, content, publishing policy, writer staff and publishing pe-riod etc. were examined and a local press example of the Republic period in Turkey was tried to be discussed.Conference Object IRAK CEPHESİ’NDE TÜRK ORDUSU’NUN İAŞE VE İKMAL FAALİYETLERİ(Atatürk Kültür, Dil ve Tarih Yüksek Kurum Atatürk Araştırma Merkezi Yayınları, 2016) Fedai, AyselIraq Front, one of the fronts the Ottoman fought in the World War I, carried significant importance for the British in terms of the region’s oil security and the Indian Ocean land connection. Having failed to pass Çanakkale Front, the Allied Powers intended to reach Russia through Iran, Iraq and Basra Bay in order to dispatch aid. In the front launched in Iraq, in the region of Kut Al Amara, The Ottoman fought triumphant battles under the command of Halil Pasha against the British Forces. The Kut Al Amara Battle is a unique victory of the Ottoman in the World War I after Çanakkale Battle where they fought under harsh conditions and short supplies. In this victory, as well as the units which created the general prosperous structure of the military organization; logistics, the entire military units behind the fronts, civil institutions in contact and their constitutions and the impacts they brought into the war also played important roles. The toughest challenges the Turkish Army faced during the battles in that period in the Iraq Front were the matters of supplies and subsistence. The cont-ributions of army service area enabling the Turkish Army to stand ready before or during the war had a significant role in changing the course of the war. In this manner, the necessity of keeping the rear lines ready perpetually in order not to lose seized lands in the battles emerged. In this study, by examining the supply and subsistence operations of Turkish Army in The Iraq Front in general terms, the impacts of supply and subsistence in the war and the emphasis of supply and subsistence’s relatively changing the war in the region are intended to exhibit.
