Abstract
Diyarbakir had been central of important civilizations in the region on economic, scientific and artistic activities in every period of history. In addition, the city possesses a unique cultural identity formed by the artifacts of the dominant civilizations, the different religious communities it hosts, and its military and political strategic center. The walls of Diyarbakır have been a guarantee of life and property security of the citizens throughout history and have undertaken the duty of privilege from the outside world when necessary. Until the beginning of the 20th century, Diyarbakir's heterogeneous structure in ethnicity is an inevitable result of this historical process of the city. Until the end of the 19th century, Diyarbakır has become the center of agricultural production as well as industrial production and commercial activities
