Mimarlıkta kuramsal suskunluğun inşası ve imkanları

Abstract

18. yüzyıl, klasik mimarlığın kiplerini icat etmiş böylece her döneme kolayca uyarlanabilir bir gramer üretmiştir. Klasiğin sürekliliğinin sekteye uğradığı diğer tüm mimarlık düşünme biçimleri ise "kuramsal suskunluğun" inşasının birer ifadesidir. "Asli" olanı terk eden yeni düşünme biçimleri, sonsuz olduğu tahayyül edilen yegâne kavrayışın çoktan dağıldığının habercisidir. Zoraki ilişkiler kurmak için çabalamayan, şüphe duyabilen, çizgi dışı söylemler üretmiş her bir bakış açısı zaman zaman kendi içinde tutarlı bir bütün oluşturma çabası içinde olsa da geleceği öngörülemeyen bir tarihin başlangıcına işaret eder. "Batı"da Aydınlanma ile başladığı varsayılan insanın düşünce serüveninin dönüşmeye başlaması ve aklın kullanımının özgürleşmesine paralel olarak vuku bulan tüm bu olaylar, mimarlıkta da birçok "sapma"yı kaçınılmaz olarak üretir. Bu sapmaların her biri sınırlarını koruma çabası içinde olan ve epistemolojik inşasını sağlam bir temel üzerine oturttuğu yanılsamasını üreten mimarlığın, pek çok şeyden vazgeçmek zorunda kaldığı, çatışmalı bir döneme girdiğinin ilk sinyallerini verir. Bu çalışma da 18. yüzyılda üretimi başlayan ve uzanımlarını modern dünyada da görmeye devam ettiğimiz rasyonalitenin bunalımları ile şekillenen kuramsal suskunluğun inşasının ilk kez deneyimlendiği bazı durumları görmek ve var olduklarını söylemek için yazılmıştır. Önemsiz gibi görülebilecek ve mimarlık yazımında pek çok konudan özerkleşerek çok cılız bir damarı oluşturan bu durumların ortaklaştıkları en önemli parametre, zaman-mekân paradoksu üretmeleri ve bu sebeple mimarlıkta tıkanmalara sebep olmalarıdır. Bu durum modernitenin temellerini sarsacak ciddi bir iddiayı da içinde barındırır. Mimarlık tarihi yazımında yer edinememiş "önemsiz" örneklerin böylesine ciddi bir iddianın kaynağı olabileceği vurgusu da bu arızaların kendi paradoksal içermelerinin doğasından kaynaklanır. Herkesin üzerinde uzlaştığı mimarlık tarihi ve kuramı içinde bilinen tüm meselelerin dışında duran, çok da bilinmeyen bu arızaların epistemolojisini anlamak üzere yazılmış olan bu tez; tekrarın üretiminden sıyrılıp düşünmeyi sağlayacak ve yeni epistemik güzergahlar açabilmeyi mümkün kılacak tartışmaların bir başlangıcıdır.

The architectural thought in the 18th century invented the tenses of classical architecture, thus producing a grammar that is easily adaptable to any period. All other forms of architectural thinking in which the continuity of the classical is interrupted are expressions of the construction of "theoretical silence". New ways of thinking that abandon the "original" are signs that the only comprehension that is imagined to be infinite has already disintegrated. Each perspective that does not try to establish forced relations that can be suspicious that has produced unconventional discourses points to the beginning of an unpredictable future. All these events, which are assumed to have started with the Enlightenment in the "West", which occur in parallel with the transformation of the human adventure of thought, and the liberation of the use of reason, inevitably produce many "deviations" in architecture. Each of these deviations gives the first signals that architecture, which strives to protect its boundaries and produces the illusion that it has built its epistemological construction on a solid foundation, has entered a period of conflict in which it has to give up many things. This study aims to see some situations where the construction of theoretical silence, shaped by the crises of rationality, produced in the 18th century and extended in the modern world, was experienced for the first time and to say that they exist. The common feature of these situations, which can be seen as insignificant and which, by becoming autonomous from many subjects in architectural writing, form a very weak part, is that they produce a time-space paradox and therefore cause blockages in architecture. This situation also contains a serious claim to shake the foundations of modernity. The emphasis on the fact that "insignificant" examples that have not gained a place in architectural historiography can be the source of such a serious claim stems from the nature of the paradoxical content of these failures. This thesis, which is written to understand the epistemology of these not-so-well-known failures that stand outside of all known issues within the history and theory of architecture that everyone agrees on, is the beginning of the discussions that will enable us to think away from the production of repetition and make it possible to open new epistemic routes.
