Abstract
Art is a record reflecting the period in which it emerged in the historical process. The concept of space in art is one of the representations that keep this record. This thesis aims to examine the changes that art and space underwent on the way towards digitalization through images considering the sociological, scientific and technological impacts on space in art. Space, technology and art have interacted with new formations in every period since the existence of humanity. In this context, the research focuses on the effects of technology and scientific advancements leading to the digitalization of space and art. The historical process of technology, art and space were examined. A literature review was conducted and the changes in images and space through various artworks were analyzed in the context of the subject. Art also transforms itself in the light of new formations provided by technology. The world we live in is intertwined with numbers, coding and various software. Digitalization rooted in technology replaced the physical materials such as paint, brushes and canvas which are essential art tools for painting with new technological tools such as digital drawing pens, tablets and computers. Also virtual spaces were created other than physical spaces through software and codes. Thus, the digitalization brought about by technology reshaped the audience-artwork and human-space relations.
