Abstract
In this study, the injury status, causes, and body parts of the injured athletes-students studying at Diyarbakır Sports High School, playing in the school team in basketball, football and volleyball branches were investigated. All of the participants were male and the total number of participants consisted of 41 people, 18 in soccer, 13 in basketball and 10 in volleyball. Within the scope of the study, 'Injury Information Form' was created by the researcher in order to determine the injury status, causes, types and body parts of the athletes-students. The data obtained were expressed as frequency and percentage tables using descriptive statistics in SPSS 24.0 package program. Chi-square test was applied to analyze the relationship between the branch and age variables and the answers given to the questionnaire. 73.2% of the participants had experienced an injury during their careers, while 26.8% had not. 53.7% of the injuries occurred during training and the most common type of injury was sprain with 41.5%. 36,6% of the participants were injured by the opponent's blow. 58.5% of the participants could not participate in 3 or more training sessions or competitions after the injury. 68.3% of the study group used personal protective equipment during training or matches. Athlete injury is perceived as an urgent public health problem in most countries. In order to prevent or at least minimize athlete injuries, necessary precautions should be taken.
