Abstract
İngilizce öğreniminde öğrenme isteği ve akademik başarıda tutumun önemli bir rol sahibi olduğu düşünülmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Diyarbakır ilinde ortaokul düzeyinde eğitim öğretim gören öğrencilerin İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumları ve bu tutumların arkasındaki; cinsiyetleri, sınıf düzeyleri, okul türleri, Türkçe dersi notları, İngilizce dersi notları, genel akademik not ortalamaları, ebeveyn eğitim durumları, aile meslekleri, kardeş sayıları değişkenleri incelenmiştir. Araştırma, 2021-2022 eğitim-öğretim yılında Diyarbakır'da Sur ilçesinde bulunan ortaokulların 5.,6.,7. ve 8. sınıflarında yapılmıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemini; toplam 440 öğrenci oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın verileri beşli likert tipinde Şenol Orakçı (2017) tarafından hazırlanan ve 16 maddeden oluşan 'İngilizce Dersine Yönelik Tutum Ölçeği' kullanılarak toplanmıştır. Verilerin analizinde; betimsel istatistikler, bağımsız örneklem t-testi, tek yönlü varyans analizi, Pearson korelasyon analizi ve çoklu regresyon analizleri uygulanmıştır. Ölçeğin güvenirliği için Cronbach's Alpha kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen bulgulara göre; Öğrencilerin cinsiyet değişkenlerine göre İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumlarında yapılan t-testi sonucunda anlamlı farklılıklar görülmüştür (p <0.05). Ancak öğrencilerin sınıf düzeyleri, okul türü, Türkçe dersi notları, İngilizce dersi notları, genel akademik not ortalamaları, ebeveyn eğitim durumları, anne/baba meslekleri ve kardeş sayıları değişkenlerine göre, yapılan ANOVA testi sonucunda İngilizce dersine yönelik tutumlarında anlamlı farklılıklar görülmemiştir (p> 0.05). Yordayıcı değişkenlerle (cinsiyet, Türkçe dersi notları, İngilizce dersi notları, anne meslek, baba meslek) bağımlı değişken (tutum) arasındaki korelasyonlar incelendiğinde, Türkçe dersi notları, İngilizce dersi notları ve genel akademik not ortalamalarının İngilizce dersine yönelik tutum ile anlamlı bir ilişkiye sahip olduğu, kız cinsiyetinin ve baba eğitimin durumunun İngilizce dersine yönelik tutum açısından anlamlı bir yordayıcı olduğu, sınıf düzeyi, kardeş sayısı ve anne eğitim durumu değişkenlerinin ise İngilizce dersine yönelik tutum açısından anlamlı yordayıcı olmadığı sonucu elde edilmiştir.
It is thought that the desire to learn in English learning and the attitude have an important role in academic success. In this study, the attitudes of the students studying at Diyarbakır secondary school level towards the English lesson, and behind these attitudes; The variables of gender, grade levels, school types, Turkish course grades, English course grades, general academic grade averages, parent education status, family occupations, number of siblings were examined. The research was conducted in the 5th, 6th, 7th grades of secondary schools in Sur district of Diyarbakır in the 2021-2022 academic year. And it was done in 8th grade. The sample of the research; It consists of 440 students in total. The data of the research were collected using the 'Attitude Scale Towards English Lesson', which was prepared by Şenol Orakçı (2017) and consists of 16 items in a five-point Likert type. In the analysis of data, descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis and multiple regression analyses were applied. Cronbach's Alpha was used for the reliability of the scale. According to the findings obtained from the research; As a result of the t-test, significant differences were observed in the attitudes of the students towards the English lesson according to the gender variables (p <0.05). However, according to the variables of the students' grade levels, school type, Turkish course grades, English course grades, general academic grade averages, parental education status, mother/father professions and number of siblings, as a result of the ANOVA test, no significant differences were observed in their attitudes towards the English lesson (p> 0.05). When the correlations between the predictor variables (gender, Turkish course grades, English course grades, mother's occupation, father's occupation) and the dependent variable (attitude) were examined, it was found that Turkish course grades, English course grades and general academic grade averages had a significant relationship with the attitude towards the English course. It was concluded that the gender of the girl and the educational status of the father were significant predictors of the attitude towards the English lesson, while the variables of grade level, number of siblings and mother's education were not significant predictors of the attitude towards the English lesson.
