Article Investigation of Disaster Management Perceptions of School Administrators: The Case of Kahramanmaraş Earthquake(Elsevier, 2025) Is, Engin; Karadas, HalilThis study examined the problems school administrators face during disasters and the strategies they develop to address these problems within the framework of disaster management theories. A phenomenological design was adopted, and purposive sampling was used to select 22 school administrators (8 female, 14 male). The findings show how disaster management, crisis management, and resilience theories are reflected in school management practices and highlight the need for systematic preparation. Due to the frequent occurrence of earthquakes and floods in Turkey, school administrators reported the necessity of strengthening support mechanisms related to preparedness, response, and risk reduction. The results indicate that administrators require comprehensive training on disaster preparedness, crisis response, and mitigation strategies. By linking these findings to resilience theory, the study underscores how administrators' adaptive practices contribute to organizational readiness in disaster-prone educational contexts.Article Roles of Loneliness and Life Satisfaction in the Relationship Between Perceived Friend Social Support, Positive Feelings About the Future and Loss of Motivation(Elsevier, 2025) Aslan, Yavuz; Kocak, Orhan; Kaya, Aysel Basmaci; Alkhulayfi, Abdulmohsen Mohammed Abdullah; Gomez Salgado, Juan; Yildirim, MuratPurpose: University students often face psychological challenges, particularly loneliness and hopelessness, which are exacerbated by factors such as limited social interactions, economic uncertainty, lack of employment opportunities, and the increasing prevalence of online education. This study aims to investigate the relationships among perceived friend social support, loneliness, life satisfaction, and the sub-dimensions of hopelessness, which are positive feelings about the future and loss of motivation. Design/methodology/approach: This cross-sectional quantitative study was conducted with 420 university students who completed a series of self-reported measures, including the Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale, the UCLA Loneliness Scale, the Satisfaction with Life Scale, and the Beck Hopelessness Scale. Findings: The findings revealed that perceived friend social support was positively associated with life satisfaction and positive future feelings and negatively associated with loneliness and loss of motivation. Both loneliness and life satisfaction individually and serially mediated the relationships between social support and the dimensions of hopelessness. Conclusion: These results highlight the crucial role of friend-based social support in alleviating loneliness and improving life satisfaction, thereby fostering optimism and preventing motivational decline among students. The findings provide valuable insights for designing interventions to enhance emotional well-being and psychological resilience among university populations.Article Citation - WoS: 1Citation - Scopus: 1A Silent Threat To Children's School Road Safety in Türkiye: the Impact of Stray Dog Attacks(Elsevier, 2025) Dag, Abdullatif; Karadas, HalilThe aim of this study is to reveal the effects of stray dogs on school road safety and to provide practical suggestions for solving the problem. The study was conducted in schools located in residential areas where stray dogs are densely populated in Mardin. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The study was conducted with the participation of stakeholders in seven different schools, including central and village schools. In T & uuml;rkiye, it has been determined that stray dogs endanger children's road safety to school and prevent equal opportunities in education. Research results show that stray dogs negatively affect the safety of not only students but also other stakeholders of the school. According to the results, stray dogs cause fear, panic, stress, reluctance to school, lack of self-confidence in students and other stakeholders in psychological terms, and chasing, falling and getting injured, biting and traffic accidents in physical terms. Stray dogs cause different negative effects such as preventing students and other school stakeholders from accessing the school, causing students to be absent, affecting the school's course operation, spreading infectious diseases and creating visual pollution in the environment. In the context of these results, it can be said that adopting stray dogs first and taking the dogs that are not adopted to shelters will contribute to school road safety.
