A thorough discussion about the power quality issues is conducted here. This paper starts with the power quality issues, followed by discussions of basic standards. A comprehensive study of power quality in power systems, including the systems with dc and renewable sources is done in this paper. Power quality monitoring techniques and possible solutions of the power quality issues for the power systems are elaborately studied. Then, we analyze the methods of mitigation of these problems using custom power devices, such as D-STATCOM, UPQC, UPS, TVSS, DVR, etc., for micro grid systems. For renewable energy systems, STATCOM can be a potential choice due to its several advantages, whereas spinning reserve can enhance the power quality in traditional systems. At Last, we study the power quality in dc systems. Simpler arrangement and higher reliability are two main advantages of the dc systems though it faces other power quality issues, such as instability and poor detection of faults.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 9Analysis of Open Circuit Voltage MPPT Method with Analytical Analysis with Perturb and Observe (P&O) MPPT Method in PV Systems(Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2023) Çakmak, Fevzi; Tür, Mehmet Rıda; Tür, Mehmet Rıda; Department of Electricity / Elektrik Bölümü; Department of Electricity and Energy / Elektrik ve Enerji BölümüThis study conducts a comprehensive comparison between two prominent Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) techniques employed in solar energy systems: the Perturb and Observe (P&O) method and the Analytical Solution Fractional Open Circuit Voltage (ASFOCV) method. To assess the effectiveness of these MPPT approaches, a simulation study was conducted using four SHARP NDQ295 model photovoltaic panels, configured as two panels in series and two in parallel. Both the P&O and ASFOCV MPPT methods were evaluated under various scenarios of radiation levels and temperature changes. The results unequivocally demonstrate the superior performance of the ASFOCV MPPT method over the P&O MPPT method. The ASFOCV method notably enhanced converter output power by up to 5% when compared to the P&O method, leading to more efficient energy production. Furthermore, the ASFOCV method exhibited rapid stabilization of output voltage during abrupt weather changes, outperforming the P&O method in this regard. This study underscores the potential of the ASFOCV MPPT method to enhance the efficiency of solar energy systems and its adaptability to fluctuating environmental conditions. Future research endeavors could focus on mitigating the ASFOCV method’s sensitivity to temperature variations and conducting real-world applications to further investigate its performance under practical circumstances.Book Part Citation - WoS: 0Cozguden Dugume, Dugumden Motife Bergama Halilariy(MILLI FOLKLOR, 2022) Ekinci, Esra; Department of Jewelery and Jewelry Design / Kuyumculuk ve Takı Tasarımı BölümüCozguden Dugume, Dugumden Motife Bergama HalilariyArticle DIRECT PRODUCTS OF ROUGH SUBGROUPS(2019) Bağırmaz, Nurettin; Department of Electronics and Automatization / Elektronik ve Otomasyon BölümüIn this research, the direct products of the rough approximations and rough subgroups in a group by direct product of normal subgroups are studied. The proposed method is obtained by calculating it by utilizing the single diode circuit of the PV module, while measuring the open circuit voltage (Voc) by interrupting the power of other open circuit voltage methods. Vmpp is obtained by multiplying the obtained Voc voltage with the coefficient. The voltage variation (E) is obtained by the subtraction between the panel voltage (Vpv) and the Vmpp voltage. It is applied as an input to the PI controller by multiplying the Ki factor to limit the voltage variation (E). The PI Controller generates the required duty cycle for the DC-DC converter. The most important advantage of this method is acquaring open circuit voltage without power interruption. The proposed method operated effectively at different radiation and temperature values. For the proposed method, it has simulated in Matlab/Simulink program using SHARP NDQ295 model PV panel.Article Organizational gossip and teachers: Threat or opportunity?(2022) Bozan, Serdar; Ağalday, Bünyamin; Department of Child Development / Çocuk Gelişimi Bölümü; Department of Educational Sciences / Eğitim Bilimleri BölümüThis research examines teachers‟ perceptions of gossip in schools. The research employed an explanatory approach of mixed methods. Quantitative data were obtained through the “Organizational Gossip Scale” and qualitative data were obtained through the semi-structured interview form. Quantitative data were collected from 302 teachers selected by simple random sampling method in secondary schools in Turkey. Qualitative data were collected from ten teachers chosen by the maximum variation sampling method. The research first revealed that gossip is a frequently used communication mechanism in schools, although participants have different perceptions of gossip. In addition, the results showed that gossip might be seen as an opportunity in school, given its functions of having information and developing relations. However, in terms of harmful effects such as poor performance and burnout in the qualitative results, gossip will be a threat to the school‟s stakeholders. Still, it can also be a threat in terms of organizational harm. In conclusion, gossip‟s significance in informal processes in schools was emphasized. Implications were made to practitioners and researchers that the threat aspect could be turned into an opportunityConference Object A REVIEW OF MULTI OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION(2016) Hüseyin AhmetoğluMerging systems, enhancing inter-disciplinary relations and increasing needs require multi objectives rather than a single objective in the optimization problems nowadays. However, the objectives are frequently conflicting. When an objective is improved, the other objective(s) may deteriorate. In the multi-objective optimization problems (MOOPs), the aim is to come up with the best solutions that can be an alternative for each other in terms of objective function values under the constraints caused by various reasons. During the last two decades, MOOPs and solution methods have been studied with great interest. It is possible to come across a MOOP in almost every discipline in the literature. MOOPs have been modelled and solved not only in the fields with more applications such as production, management, business administration, marketing, transportation and finance but also in the basic sciences such as chemistry, maths and statistics. Solution of MOOPs requires the simultaneous optimization of conflicting multi objectives. In MOOPs, an optimal solution set on which a compromise is reached among the conflicting objectives is obtained. In this study, the articles on multi-objective optimization written in 2015 and later are analysed and 61 articles are chosen among them. Classical and heuristic methods implemented for the solution of MOOPs presented in these articles are mentioned. The articles are classified according to their subject areas. The methodology used in each article is identified. According to their implementation areas, the multi-objective optimization methods and the areas they are implemented the most are discussed. The areas to be focused on in the future studies to obtain more robust results in the optimization are identified.Article Citation - Scopus: 2Review of the Opinions of Vocational High School Teachers, Students, and Administrators on the Interactive Whiteboard1(Turkish Online Journal of Qualitative Inquiry, 2020) Aykat, Şükrü; Günüç, Selim; Aykat, Şükrü; Department of Computer Engineering / Bilgisayar Mühendisliği BölümüThe primary aim of this study is to determine whether there was a difference in teachers' levels of interactive whiteboard usage, their self-efficacy, and opinions before and after the Use of Technology in Education Course (UTEC) in vocational high schools where FATIH project was implemented. Research participants constituted of teachers and school administrators, and students attending Telkari Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in which interactive whiteboard installation was made within the framework of FATIH project in Midyat district of Mardin province and who attended UTEC training in the 2015-2016 academic year. In this study, a mixed research method model was used. Data were collected through scale, survey and semi-structured interview forms. Quantitative data were analyzed by mean and ttest, and qualitative data were analyzed by content analysis. In conclusion of the study, it was observed that there was no significant change in the self-efficacy of teachers using interactive whiteboard and their level of using interactive whiteboard after UTEC training. Furthermore, it was observed that teachers were unable to develop materials for the interactive whiteboard before UTEC training, and after the UTEC training, they were able to prepare materials in part. This fact has revealed that the UTEC training content was not sufficient in material development for the interactive whiteboard. The students, on the other hand, indicated that they preferred the courses used on the interactive whiteboard and asked the teachers to continue using the interactive whiteboard. Participant students indicated that interactive whiteboard failures also adversely affected the lesson. Teachers, students, and school administrators reported that use an interactive whiteboard in the course increased student success and positively affected interest and participation in the course.
