Article Citation - Scopus: 3Determination of Suitable Nitrogen Doses for Growing Second Product Maize (Zea Mays L.) Varieties in Chickpea Planting Fields and Its Economic Analysis(Agricultural Research Communication Centre, 2015) Ekinci, M.B.; Togay, N.; Togay, Y.; Dogan, Y.The experiment was executed in three repetitions according to "The Split Plots in Randomised Blocks Design" in the 2013-14 growing seasons. As material; commercial maize varieties Dekalp 5401, Dekalp 5783, Pioneer PR32T83 and Syncero were selected. Three nitrogen doses [0, 150, and 300 kg ha-1 (Ammonium nitrate)] and 80 kg ha-1 phosphorus (P2O5: TSP: triple super phosphate) were used. According to the two year results, the highest seed yield was obtained with Syncero (9.527 kg ha-1) and Dekalp 5401 (9.491 kg ha-1), the lowest was provided with Dekalp 5783 (823.1 kg ha-1). In terms of the effect of nitrogen doses on seed yield, the highest value was obtained from 300 kg ha-1 application at 10.212 kg ha-1, the lowest value was obtained through the control plot (0 kg ha-1) at 7.844 kg ha-1. The economic analysis, showed that yield level increased as the dose raises. The highest revenue-generating dose was 300 kg ha-1 among the nitrogenous fertilizer applications. In this context, a profit of USD 2.87 was made in return for a cost of USD 1.00. As further doses should be applied for a net determination, it is difficult to estimate if this is the most profitable dose. Under the circumstances, however, it can be stated that the highest profitability is possible through this application (the 3rd).Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 3Effects of Concomitant Use of N-Acetylcysteine and Cyclosporine a on Acetaminophen-Induced Acute Kidney Injury in Mice(Agricultural Research Communication Centre, 2024) Kocamueftueoglu, Gonca Ozan; Tektemur, Nalan Kaya; Guzel, Elif Erdem; Tektemur, Ahmet; Ozan, Ibrahim EnverBackground: Acetaminophen (APAP), a commonly used analgesic, causes acute kidney injury (AKI) in overdose although it is rare. Mitochondrial dysfunction plays a major role in the pathophysiology of renal damage, although the exact molecular mechanism is unknown. This study aimed to evaluate the potential therapeutic effect of cyclosporin A (CsA), a mitochondrial membrane permeability Methods: Male BALB/c mice were divided into Control, APAP, APAP+NAC, APAP+CsA and APAP+NAC+CsA groups (n=6). A single dose of APAP (400 mg/kg) was administered intraperitoneally. All other treatments (1200 mg/kg NAC, 50 mg/kg CsA) were performed intraperitoneally 3 h after APAP administration. All animals were decapitated and blood samples and kidney tissue samples were collected for evaluation. Serum creatinine (Cr) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels were measured. The kidney tissue 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG), cytochrome c (Cytc) and 3-nitrotyrosine (3-NT) levels and cytochrome c (Cytc) expressions were determined. Result: Increased Cr and BUN levels, histopathological examinations and expressions of 8-OHdG, 3-NT and Cytc were detected in the APAP group. Combined NAC+CsA treatment sufficiently reversed oxidative stress, serum Cr and BUN levels and histopathological alterations induced by APAP. Moreover, cytc levels and renal tubular injury were remarkably reduced by combined drug treatment compared to the APAP+NAC group. These data suggest that the therapeutic effect of combined NAC+CsA treatment in mice with APAP-induced nephrotoxicity can be related to the combination of the antioxidant effect of NAC and the mitochondrial MPTP inhibitor effect of CsA.Article Silage Quality and Economic Efficiency Analysis of Hungarian Vetch (Vicia Pannonica Crantz) and Oats (Avena Sativa L.) Mixed at Different Ratios(Agricultural Research Communication Centre, 2025) Eren, A.; Karadenız, E.; Kaya, A.Background: In this study, it was aimed to compare Hungarian vetch and oats mixed at different ratios not only in terms of silage quality but also in terms of their economic efficiency. “Anadolu Pembesi” Hungarian vetch variety and “Albatros” oat variety were used as plant material in the experiment. Methods: Research was carried out during the winter of 2020-2021 on a farmer field in the Kızıltepe district of Mardin province (Turkiye). In the study, 100% Hungarian vetch, 100% oat, 70% Hungarian vetch + 30% oat, 60% Hungarian vetch + 40% oat, 50% Hungarian vetch + 50% oat, 30% Hungarian vetch + 70% oat silages were tested. Besides silage quality, input-cost analysis and comparison in terms of economic efficiency were also made in the study. Result: pH value, dry matter, crude protein ratio, acid detergent insoluble fiber, neutral detergent insoluble fiber, digestible dry matter, dry matter consumption, relative feed value and lactic acid ratio varied between 3.88-4.11; 25.02-29.24%; 12.17-19.64%; 31.34-40.24%; 45.27-55.14%; 57.55-64.49%; 2.18-2.65%; 97.15-132.58 and 1.82%-2.38%, respectively. When all the features are evaulated together, 70% Hungarian vetch + 30% oat silage mixture was recommended due to high crude protein ratio, high relative feed value and lactic acid ratio in between low acid detergent insoluble fiber and neutral detergent insoluble fiber ratios. On the other hand, 50% HVS + 50% OS and 60% HVS + 40% OS mixtures stand out as balanced options in terms of both economic gain and quality. This ratio represents the economic optimum point in roughage production and offers an important alternative in the creation of sustainable feed resources. © 2025, Agricultural Research Communication Centre.
