Article Abu Ubayd’s Understanding Of Naskh;(Hitit University, 2022) Yaşar, M.A.; Nas, T.In the period when Islamic sciences were formed, a large number of scholars with absolute ijtihad capacity were trained. One of the scholars mentioned is Abu ‘Ubayd al-Qāsim ibn Sallām al-Khurāsānī al-Harawī who was educated by many famous scholars of the period, had a great influence on both the scientific and political circles. For this reason, he could not be shared by different sect biographers. As a matter of fact, some Shafi’i tabaqat writers counted Ebû Ubeyd as a follower of Imam Shafii. On the other hand, some Hanbali scholars have mentioned Ebû Ubeyd among the class of Hanbali scholars. However, it was concluded that it would be more correct to see Ebû Ubeyd as an independent mujtahid rather than a follower of any madhhab. For, in his own works, the fact that he refers more to Imam Malik rather than Imam Shafii and Ahmad ibn Hanbal and sometimes refers to the views of Abu Hanifa and Imamey indicates this. Ebû Ubeyd, who came to the forefront with his faqih and muhaddis aspects, had a deep knowledge of the subject of naskh, which has a close relationship with these two sciences, and in this regard, he wrote a rare work called en-Nâsiḫ ve’l-mensûḫ fi’l-Ḳurʾâni’lʿazîz ve mâ fîhi mine’l-ferâʾiż ve’s-sünen. While revealing Ebû Ubeyd’s understanding of naskh, his work en-Nâsiḫ ve’l-mensûḫ was used as the main source. In addition to this, his other works related to the subject, especially his work called Kitâbu’l-emvâl, were among the first hand sources that were consulted. It has been tried to determine his approach to naskh based on the statements he made on the subject and the examples he gave in this regard. In this context, Ebû Ubeyd’s approach to the nature and framework of naskh and his views on the evidences that can abrogate each other are examined in this study. Ebû Ubeyd discussed the abrogation in a broader sense as “the modification of a shar’i ruling by a later evidence”, not the established meaning in the methodology as “removal of a shar’i ruling with a later shar’i proof”. In this context, naskh is also used for the allocation of public, the denial of the absolute, the statement of conciseness, the correction of a wrong understanding and the exception made from a general rule. This is known as the understanding of naskh among the companions, tābi‘īn and early convert scholars. However, although Ebû Ubeyd is at the same age as Imam Shafii and has copied and benefited from his works, it is noteworthy that he preferred the predecessor’s approach to the subject rather than the naskh understanding he adopted. It is important to investigate this. He adopted the approach of the public regarding the Shari’a evidences of Ebû Ubeyd that could naskh each other. According to him, the verses of the Qur’an can naskh each other. He gave many examples of this. Another point that draws attention here is to ascribe the concept of naskh used for the verse of the Qur’an by Ebû Ubeyd, from the Lawh-i Mahfuz, in the form of a verse whose recitation is lasting and its meaning is naskhed, and a verse that is removed from people’s hearts by canceling both its recitation and used in different meanings. Ebû Ubeyd stated that sunnah can be naskhed with sunnah, without making any distinction between ahad and mutawatir about sunnah and its naskh. However, despite giving many examples of the naskh of the âhâd sunnah with its own like, no example has been encountered of the naskh of the âhâd sunnah with its own like or with âhâd and the âhâd sunnah with the mutawatir sunnah. As it can be understood from my statements on the subject, Ebû Ubeyd saw that it is permissible to naskh both mutawatir and ahad sunnah with the Qur’an. However, while there is an example for the naskh of the ahad sunnah with the Qur’an in his related works, there is no example for the other. Although there is no clear statement on the issue that the Qur’an can be naskhed with the sunnah, it is understood from some examples that he gives permission for this. © Published by Hitit Ü niversitesi İlahiyat Fakültesi – Hitit University Divinity Faculty, Çorum, Turkey. A total of 230 healthcare workers participated in the adaptation of the scale, which comprises 24 items. The research data were collected face-to-face with a questionnaire that included demographic characteristics, the Employee Spirituality Scale, and the Spiritual Orientation Scale. Construct validity was analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The two-factor structure of the Employee Spirituality Scale was confirmed in the Turkish sample and showed acceptable fit values. Because of CFA, 2 items were removed from the scale because they did not fit. For criterion validity, the Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the scale and the Spiritual Orientation Scale was calculated, and a significant positive result was obtained. This study demonstrated that the Turkish version of the Employee Spirituality Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for health care workers to assess the various dimensions of human spirituality that give individuals a sense of guidance, facilitate finding meaning and purpose in one’s tasks, enable them to overcome their weaknesses and limitations in the workplace, and assess various dimensions of human spirituality as a relationship with a higher power. © 2025 by Author(s).Article Afet Sonrası Acil Eylem Planı Olarak Eğitim Amaçlı Kullanılan Prefabrik Yapıların Sürdürülebilirliği(Afet ve Acil Durum Yonetimi Baskanligi (AFAD), 2024) Ergün, Ruşen; Kutlu, Izzettın; Bekar, İremTürkiye’de 06 Şubat 2023 tarihinde yaşanan Kahramanmaraş depremleri, etkili olduğu bölgelerde eğitim süreçlerini uzun süre aksatmıştır. They were settled in different parts of the empire from the Balkans to Anatolia to the Syria and Iraq vilayets. By following this policy, the Ottoman state ensured that many Circassians would become part of the Ottoman army, ruling elites, harems and agricultural workforce. Anzavur Ahmed's family was one of them. Although he did not graduate from military school, he participated in the army during the war in Libya (1911), the Balkan Wars (1912-1913), and the First World War (1914-1918). He was also appointed as the governor of Izmit (1920). Anzavur Ahmet is portrayed as a rebel by Turkish official historiography, but in reality, he was much more than that. He was an Ottoman Governor, and supported by Ottoman administrators such as Damad Ferid and Ali Kemal, who were against the Kuvayi Milliye because they believed that the empire would eventually emerge from the chaotic atmosphere of the post-First World War period and make an agreement with the British. This article argues that although Ahmed Anzavur has been labeled a rebel and a traitor according to the official historiography, it is difficult to use these labels given the circumstances of his time.Article Amino Acid Profile, Nutrients Content and Yield of Chickpea (Cicer Arietinum L.) Sixty-four adult male rats were divided into eight equal groups: control, P (100 mg/kg/day), Q (100 mg/kg/day), P + Q (100 mg/day for both), diabetes mellitus (DM) (single-dose 60 mg/kg streptozotocin), DM + P, DM + Q, and DM + P + Q. The rats were sacrificed, and blood and sciatic nerve tissues were collected. Blood glucose and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels increased, while IL-6 and total antioxidant status decreased in the DM group (p = 0.016 and p = 0.047, respectively). Ultrastructural findings showed degeneration of the axon and myelin sheath. The apoptotic index (AI %), TNF-alpha, and IL-1 beta immunopositivity increased significantly in the DM group (p < 0.001). Morphological structures approaching those of the controls were observed in the DM + P, DM + Q, and DM + P + Q groups. Morphometric measurements increased markedly in all treatment groups (p < 0.001), while blood glucose and MDA levels, AI (%), TNF-alpha, and IL-1 beta immunopositivity decreased. In conclusion, the combined effects of propolis and quercetin in diabetic neuropathy may provide optimal morphological protection with neuroprotective effects by reducing hyperglycemia, and these may represent a key alternative supplement in regenerative medicine.Article Antioxidant, Ache Inhibitory, and Anticancer Effects of Verbascum Thapsus Extract(C M B Assoc, 2023) Zhang, Na; Baran, Ayse; Valioglu, Ferzane; Teng, Lei; Atalar, Mehmet Nuri; Keskin, Cumali; Beilerli, AferinVerbascum thapsus (Mullein) is a medicinal plant used in folk medicine to treat various ailments. For this study, the biological functions of Verbascum thapsus (VT) methanol extract were determined in vitro. The plant's methanol extract was created through the maceration process. The phytochemical composition of plant extracts was investigated using liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry. The antioxidant capacity of the extract was determined using the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH radical) and 2,2-azinobis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) (ABTS radical). Cell lines Caco-2 (human colorectal adenocarcinoma cells), LNCaP (Lymph Node Carcinoma of Prostate), and HEK293 (Human embryonic kidney 293 cells) were used to model colon, prostate, and non-cancerous cells. The cytotoxic activity of the plant extract on the proliferation of these cells was determined by the MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide, a tetrazole) assay protocol. VT extract showed moderate DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities at 30 mg/ml concentration. With this, VT extract was determined to inhibit acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme and had strong cytotoxic activity on cancerous cell lines. In addition, our findings clearly showed that the plant extract had greater cytotoxic activity on the viability of cancerous cells compared to non-cancerous (Human embryonic kidney cells; HEK293) cells. The current findings showed that V. thapsus might be a promising anti-cancer medication candidate for the treatment of human colorectal adenocarcinoma and colon cancer, as well as a good source antioxidans. Surveys conducted in August 2021 and 2022 revealed that 10.5%-17.5% of the 200-500 vines within each of 35 kiwifruit orchards in the Per & scedil;embe, G & uuml;lyal & imath; and Alt & imath;nordu districts of Ordu province exhibited symptoms of Armillaria root rot, including complete defoliation. Diseased plants exhibited diagnostic signs on their root collars and woody roots, including white mycelial fans, extensive wood rot and rhizomorphs. A single Armillaria isolate was obtained from each of the 35 symptomatic orchards. Molecular identification, employing DNA sequencing of the large subunit (LSU) region of rDNA, the translation elongation factor subunit 1-alpha (TEF1) gene and the second largest RNA polymerase II B-subunit (RPB2) gene, identified 20 isolates as Armillaria gallica and 15 as A. mellea. Phylogenetic analyses, based on TEF1 alignments, further supported the species identification with a 100% bootstrap value. To examine genetic diversity, start codon targeted (SCoT) marker 13 was used, successfully differentiating the two Armillaria species and revealing three distinct clades. Clades I and II comprised 15 and 5 isolates of A. gallica, respectively, while Clade III contained all 15 A. mellea isolates. Pathogenicity testing on kiwifruit seedlings (cv. Hayward) revealed the ability of both A. gallica and A. mellea isolates to induce disease. Rhizomorph-producing isolates in kiwifruit seedlings displayed high virulence, inducing severe leaf necrosis and seedling mortality, while isolates lacking these structures were non-pathogenic. This study identifies the first global instance of A. gallica causing kiwifruit root rot. This finding, along with the identification of A. mellea as a causal agent in the country, highlights the emerging threat of Armillaria root rot to kiwifruit production in the region.Article Assessment of preoperative anxiety and negative automatic thoughts in patients waiting for corneal transplantation(Publishing Office of the University of Rzeszow, 2024) Tanrıverdi, Seher; Şen, Mehmet Ali; Genç, HasanIntroduction and aim. The effects of contact time, initial dye concentration, and solution pH (3-11) were also determined. The adsorption on all mushrooms attained equilibrium within 120 min for both MB and MG. To evaluate the experimental kinetics data, the pseudo-first-order, pseudo-second-order, and intraparticle diffusion kinetics equations were utilised. The pseudo-first-order kinetic model demonstrated a good fit with all adsorption kinetics. The Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models were used to analyse the mechanism of the adsorption isotherm. The adsorption equilibrium isotherm was in a good agreement with the Freundlich model. Thermodynamic parameters such as ΔH enthalpy variation, ΔS entropy variation, and ΔG free Gibbs energy variation were calculated at 303-323 K. The results suggested that the Pleurotus ostreatus mushroom was the most suitable adsorbent for both cationic dyes’ removal.Article British Orientalist And Intelligence Officer David George Hogarth's Perspective On The Palestinian Territory And Issue;(Muhammed Mustafa KULU, 2024) İpek, M.Due to its geopolitical position and the location of the holy shrines of the three holy religions, the Palestinian region has been a geography of interest to great powers throughout history. From the 19th century to the mid-20th century, the Britain was among the states that attached importance to the Palestine region in order to protect its interests in the Middle East and to be the defender of the Christian religion. Some politicians, clergymen, scientists and military officers working in official and private institutions within the British State also came to the Palestine region to protect the interests of their countries in the Middle East. The defenders of the state, who worked in different branches, gathered information about the Palestinian region and presented articles that would help the imperialist policies of their countries. Among the British who travelled to the Middle East and Palestine to protect their country's interests was the orientalist, researcher, writer and intelligence officer D. G. Hogarth (1862-1927). During his scholarly work in the Middle East between 1887 and 1915, during and after World War I, Hogarth wrote numerous military-political reports, letters, memoranda and academic papers on the Palestine region and issue. Methods: This retrospective cohort study evaluated the data of 1985 idiopathic premature infants who underwent ROP screening from 2016 to 2022. The infants were divided into two groups according to the presence of ROP, and those with ROP were further evaluated in two subgroups based on the presence of proliferation. Comparisons were made concerning the serum multiple of the median values of unconjugated estriol (uE3), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) among aneuploidy screening biomarkers. Results: While 1628 premature infants were in the non-ROP group, 357 were in the ROP group. Of the infants with ROP, 72 were in the proliferative ROP group and 285 in the non-proliferative ROP group. There was no significant difference in the multiple of the median values of the evaluated serum biomarkers (uE3, hCG, and AFP) between the ROP and non-ROP groups or between the proliferative ROP, non-proliferative ROP, and non-ROP groups. Conclusion: The multiple of the median values of second-trimester aneuploidy screening serum biomarkers were not able to predict the development of ROP in premature infants. This result may have been caused by the fact that the blood tests were taken only once and in the same weeks.Article Characterization of Durum Wheat (triticum durum L.) Hybrid(Elsevier, 2024) Ercan, Leyla; Günbegi Çalışkan, Emine; Kılıç, MuratRecent advances in nanoparticle synthesis have led to an increase in the use of environmentally acceptable plant-derived nanoparticles, given their wide range of applications. Due to their stability and several advantageous characteristics, selenium nanoparticles also stand out in these investigations in addition to metallic nanoparticles like silver, gold, iron, and zinc. These nanoparticles' favorable qualities for human health, such as antioxidant and antibacterial activities, are being studied in addition to their chemical characteristics. This investigation aimed to produce zinc oxide nanoparticles (VcZnO) and selenium nanoparticles (VcSe) from hybrid Verbascum x calcicolum Hub.-Mor. And to examine their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Utilizing the disk diffusion method and well methods, its antibacterial capabilities were studied. In vitro antioxidant capabilities were also assessed utilizing the DPPH, FRAP, and CUPRAC techniques. As a result, it emerged that zinc oxide nanoparticles synthesized from hybrid Verbascum x calcicolum were effective on gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (MIC = 160 mg/ml for VcZnO), Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MIC = 80 mg/ml for VcZnO), Klebsiella pneumoniae (MIC = 40 mg/ml for VcZnO and, MIC = 120 mg/ml for VcSe), Escherichia coli (MIC = 20 mg/ml for VcZnO). While selenium nanoparticles are more favorable in terms of antioxidant capabilities, zinc nanoparticles demonstrate stronger antibacterial properties than selenium nanoparticles. Thus, it has been discovered that the use of different nanoparticles of various plants can be more efficient in different applications. It has also been found that Verbascum x calcicolum is a material that can be used successfully in nanoparticle synthesis.Article Comparison of Chitosan-Containing Hemostatic Pad and Manual Compression After Coronary Angiography With Femoral Access(Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia, 2024) Kiliç, R.; Güzel, T.; Aktan, A.; Kaya, A.F.Background: Femoral access remains a common choice in coronary angiography due to its easy accessibility and high success rate. Various techniques exist for achieving hemostasis following femoral artery catheterization. Objectives: The aim of our study is to compare the methods of chitosan-containing hemostatic pad (HP) and manual compression (MC) in terms of efficacy and safety in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) with coronary angiography via femoral access. Method: A total of 204 patients from 3 centers were included in our study between August 2021 and June 2023. The patients were divided into 2 groups, HP and MC, with 102 patients in each. Patients were evaluated for back and low back pain, complications, and duration of hemostasis immediately after angiography and up to 24 hours. Student’s t test and Mann-Whitney U test were used for numerical variables, while chi-square test was used for categorical variables. P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Hemostasis time and back and low back pain were significantly lower in the HP group (7.5 ± 1.1 versus 15.1 ± 1.6, p < 0.001 and 2.13 ± 1.29 versus 4.22 ± 1.69, p < 0.001, respectively). While ecchymosis was found to be significantly lower in the HP group (2.9% versus 14.7%, p = 0.003), there was no significant difference in terms of other complications. Conclusion: HP was found to be more advantageous than MC in patients who underwent coronary angiography with femoral access. While ecchymosis and back and low back pain were found to be lower in the HP group, the absence of the need for sandbags also increases patient comfort. © 2024, Sociedade Brasileira de Cardiologia. The nerve tissue histotechnology is of serious importance both for scientific studies and for clinical diagnosis. The fixation, which is one of the leading procedures for histological examination of tissues, aims to preserve tissue morphology. Another essential part of the histological examination is staining process. This study, it was aimed to determine the fixative that provides optimal histological appearance in peripheral nerve tissue. Therefore, various histochemical stainings of tissues fixed with some fixatives used in practice were compared. Sciatic nerves from each rat (n=7) used in the study were fixed with different fixatives and histochemical staining was performed. In histological examination, cellular (nucleus-cytoplasm) and intercellular morphological details, staining intensity and distribution were evaluated. At the end of the study, formaldehyde was found to be the most ideal fixing agent for all stains. Although Bouin and Carnoy fixatives differed according to the staining type, their fixation quality was similar in general. Glutaraldehyde did not give as good results as other fixatives in all stainings. This study is an important technical reference for clinical and experimental studies. © 2024 Cellular and Molecular Biology Association. All rights reserved.
