Abstract
In this study, the philosophical works of Syrians, who are one of the most ancient communities of Mesopotamia, will be discussed. Philosophy -as it is known- does not belong to any person or community but it is the common property of all people. In other words, it is cumulative. It can be transferred from one culture to another and it is a discipline that has changed and has been transformed. While philosophy had an empirical character in the hands of the oldest civilizations of Mesopotamia, it has transformed into an a priori and systematic state in the Greek world. Later, it was transferred to the East and then to the Muslim world by ethno-religious communities which include Syrians. In this paper, firstly, the philosophical thought which gained a new character in the hands of Syrians and secondly the contributions of Assyrians in the process of transformation from the Greek thought to Islamic culture will be analyzed.
