Türkiye ve Meksika Örnekleri Üzerinden Toplumsal Bellek ve Müze İlişkisi

Abstract

In structuring the nation-state, museums are where history and social memory are formed, shaped, and exhibited in the service of national identity. Although states prioritize nationalism in the nation-building process to spread their ideology and emphasize social identity, social memory is the most significant detail of historical structuring in the construction of national identity. Objects that represent the emergence of identity have a mission that fulfills the function of keeping the elements of collective memory alive while showing their representation in the museum environment. Memory is remembered and ready to be reproduced whenever necessary, and taking on new meanings is another of the museum's tasks. Museums are places that exhibit, preserve, and interpret the heritage of the nation-state and keep the memory alive by communicating with society based on the benefits they offer to national identity and social memory. The study examines the Ankara Museum of Painting and Sculpture and the National Museum of Anthropology in terms of their impact on the structuring of the nation-state based on their founding dates, contributions to social memory, and the missions of museums in this process.

Ulus devlet yapılanmasında tarihin ve toplumsal belleğin oluşturularak şekillendiği, ulus kimliğine hizmet ederek sergilendiği mekanlar müzeler olmuştur. Devletler; ulus inşası sürecinde ideolojilerini yaygınlaştırmak ve toplumsal kimliği vurgulamak amacıyla milliyetçiliği ön planda tutsa da ulus kimliği inşası aşaması ile tarihsel yapılanmanın en önemli detayı, toplumsal bellektir. Kimliğin ortaya çıkışını temsil eden nesneler; müze ortamında temsiliyetlerini gösterirken, beraberinde kolektif hafıza öğelerini de canlı tutma işlevini yerine getiren bir misyona sahiptir. Belleğin, yeni anlamlar kazanarak gerektiği zaman hatırlanması ve yeniden üretime hazır bulunması, müzenin sahip olduğu görevlerinden bir diğeridir. Müzeler; ulus devlet mirasını sergileyen, koruyan, yorumlayan, toplumla bu yolla iletişim kurarak hafızanın canlı tutulmasını sağlayan mekanlar olarak, ulus kimliğine ve toplumsal hafızaya sundukları faydalar temelinde bu çalışmanın konusunu oluşturmaktadır. Çalışma kapsamında, Ankara Resim ve Heykel Müzesi ile Meksika Ulusal Antropoloji Müzesi ele alınarak, kurumların kuruluş tarihleri temelinde ulus devlet yapılanmasına etkileri, toplumsal hafızaya katkıları ve müzelerin söz konusu süreçteki misyonlarına değinilmiştir.
