Nazi İdeolojisinin Engelli Çocuk Politikası: Platoncu Kökenler Üzerine Bir Değerlendirme

Abstract

The problem of disabled children is an issue that has been discussed throughout history. Our main aim is to investigate the origins of the Nazi ideology’s perspective on issues such as the education of disabled children and their right to life in Platonic philosophy. Because it is possible to come across negative examples of disabled children in Plato’s political philosophy. Thus, the study includes philosophical research on the origins of the exclusion of disabled children from society. In the history of philosophy, it has been discussed whether disabled children can be educated or not. However, we will discuss the problem by focusing on the claim that there are similarities or affinities between the disabled child policy of the Nazi ideology and Plato’s views. What is meant by education in Plato’s philosophy is to determine some rules or principles for the education of individuals and to make them applicable in practice. What is primarily required for these principles is that individuals are mentally and physically sound. However, if this is not possible, the measures or suggestions taken are- precisely-the subject of an ethical debate. Because in Plato’s philosophy, there is the idea that disabled or defective children should be ‘weeded out’. The main reason for this is that children with defects pose a problem in terms of political ideals. In parallel, seriously ill patients are also a problem for the ideal state and social order. Therefore, it becomes clear that both questions must be discussed together. However, our study focuses on the Platonic roots of the Nazi ideology’s perspective on disabled children’s policy.

Engelli çocuk sorunu, tarih boyunca tartışılan bir konudur. Engelli çocukların eğitimleri ve yaşam hakları gibi sorunlar Nazi ideolojisinin bakış açısının kökenlerini Platoncu felsefede araştırmak temel amacımızdır. Zira Platon’un politik felsefesinde engelli çocuklara yönelik olumsuz örneklere rastlamak mümkündür. Böylelikle çalışma, engelli çocukların toplumdan dışlanmasının kökenleri üzerine felsefî bir araştırmayı içermektedir. Felsefe tarihinde engelli çocukların eğitilebilir olup olamayacakları tartışılmıştır. Ancak Nazi ideolojisinin engelli çocuk politikasıyla Platon’un görüşleri arasında benzerlikler veya yakınlıklar olduğu iddiasını merkeze alarak sorunu tartışacağız. Platon felsefesinde eğitimden kastedilen şey, bireylerin yetiştirilmesi için bazı kurallar veya ilkeler belirlemek ve bunları pratikte uygulanabilir olmasını sağlamaktır. Bu ilkeler için öncelikle gerekli olan şey, bireylerin zihnen ve bedenen sağlam olmasıdır. Ancak bu durum mümkün değilse alınan tedbirler veya öneriler -tam olarak- etik bir tartışmanın konusudur. Çünkü Platon felsefesinde engelli veya kusurlu çocukların ‘ayıklanması’ gerektiği düşüncesi söz konusudur. Bunun temel nedeni kusuru bulunan çocukların politik ideal açısından sorun teşkil etmesidir. Buna paralel olarak ağır hastalar da ideal devlet ve toplum düzeni için bir sorundur. Dolayısıyla her iki sorunun birlikte tartışılması zorunlu olduğu ortaya çıkar. Fakat çalışmamız, Nazi ideolojisinin engelli çocuk politikasındaki bakış açısının Platoncu kökenlerine odaklanmıştır.
