Abstract
Bu doktora tezinde, mimarlık yazınında öznellik-nesnellik sorununu ele almak üzere, Avrupa'da cami mimarlığını konu edinen iki metin karşılaştırılmaktadır: Tez yazarının kimi Batı Avrupa kentlerinde gerçekleştirdiği cami ziyaretlerini ve gözlemlerini yazınsallaştırdığı bir 'seyahat anlatısı' ile sanat tarihçisi Christian Welzbacher'in 'Europas Moscheen: Islamiche Architektur Im Aufbruch' (Avrupa Camileri: İslami Mimarinin Yola Çıkışı) adını taşıyan kitabı. Dil, yöntem, görsellik ve konuya yaklaşım açısından farklılıklar taşıyan ve biri öznel diğeri nesnel denebilecek iki ayrı yönelimi örnekleyen bu iki metin üzerinden 'mimarlık yazınında nesnellik mümkün müdür?' sorusu irdeleniyor; iki farklı yazarın gözünden ve dilinden iki farklı cami mimarlığı anlatısı ortaya serilirken, öznellik-nesnellik ayrımını sorunsallaştırmak üzere İslam, Avrupa, Mimarlık-Dil eksenlerinde bir karşılaştırmalı okuma yapılıyor.
In the doctoral thesis, two texts concerning mosque architecture in Europe are read in a comparative analysis in order to discuss the problematics of subjectivity-objectivity in architectural literature: An 'itinerary' that the doctoral candidate narrates his own observations gathered during the mosque visits in some European cities, and the book titled 'Europas Mooschen Islamiche Arkitektur Im Aufbruch' of Christian Welzbacher, an art historian. The question of 'Is the objectivity possible in architectural literature?' is being scrutinized through these two texts differing from the point of language, method, visuality and approach to their subject matter, and sampling two different orientations that may be defined subjective and objective; on the other hand, two divergent architectural narratives on mosques are revealed through the perspectives and narratives of two different authors, and a comparative reading is tried in an axis defined by Islam, Europe, Architecture and Language so as to problematize the dichotomy of subjectivity and objectivity.
