Öğretmen Adaylarının Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Öz-Yeterlik Algılarının Çeşitli Değişkenler Açısından İncelenmesi

Abstract

The quality of education is highly directly proportional with teachers" quality. The purpose of this study is to examine teacher candidates" self efficacy perceptions in terms of different variables. This study was realized through descriptive survey model. The population of the study was composed of 804 students attending the last grade of Dicle University Ziya Gökalp Education Faculty in the academic year of 2011-2012. The study sample consisted of 286 teacher candidates selected through random sampling from different programs. Personal information form and "The Scale of Self-Efficacy of Teacher Candidates for Teaching Profession" (SSETCTP) developed by the researchers were used in the collection of the data. Descriptive statistics (mean and standard deviation), t test and one-way analysis of variance were employed in the analysis of the data. The results show that teacher candidates" self efficacy perceptions towards teaching profession are at medium level in terms of "recognizing and evaluating the student" dimension and at good level in terms of other four dimensions. Teacher candidates see themselves especially more adequate in "art of teaching" and "communication and social competency" dimensions. Thus, it can be said that more importance should be given to "recognizing and evaluating the student" in teacher training.

Araştırmanın örneklemini, tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemiyle belirlenen farklı programlarda öğrenim gören 286 öğretmen adayı oluşturmaktadır. Bu araştırmada kişisel bilgi formu ve araştırmacılar tarafından geliştirilen "Öğretmen Adaylarının Öğretmenlik Mesleğine İlişkin Öz-Yeterlikleri Ölçeği (ÖAÖMİÖYÖ)" kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde, betimsel istatistikler (aritmetik ortalama ve standart sapma), t testi ve tek yönlü varyans analizi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada, öğretmen adaylarının öğretmenlik mesleğine ilişkin öz-yeterlik algılarının öğrenciyi tanıma ve değerlendirme boyutunda orta, diğer dört boyutta ise iyi düzeyde olduğu saptanmıştır. Öğretmen adayları, özellikle "öğretmenlik sanatı" ve "iletişim ve sosyal yetkinlik" boyutlarında kendilerini daha yeterli görmektedirler. Buna göre, öğretmen adaylarının eğitiminde, "öğrenciyi tanıma ve değerlendirme" boyutuna daha fazla önem verilmesi gerektiği söylenebilir.
