Abstract
Yatılı bölge ortaokullarına olan talep son yıllarda sayısal ve oransal olarak düşüşe geçmiştir. Bu düşüşe rağmen sebeplerinin neler olabileceği üzerine herhangi çalışmaya literatürde denk gelinmemiştir. Çalışmanın amacı, yatılı bölge ortaokullarına ilişkin talepteki mevcut değişimi çözümlemektir. Çalışmanın modeli nitel araştırma modelidir. Seçkisiz olmayan örnekleme yöntemlerinden amaçsal örnekleme kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubu YBO'da çalışmış ya da çalışmakta olan 8 okul müdürü, 5 müdür yardımcısı, 2 ilçe ve 3 il şube müdürü şeklindedir. Veri toplama aracı, yarı-yapılandırılmış görüşme formudur. Veriler içerik analizine tabii tutulup temalandırılmıştır. Sonuçlar şu şekildedir: YBO varlığıyla ilgili misyonun tamamlandığı veya gerekli olduğu fikri ön plana çıkmıştır. İmkan ve tehditleriyle YBO'lara bakıldığında disiplin, yaşam becerileri ve öğrencilere çeşitli imkanlar sağladığı; tehdit olaraksa aileden uzak bir yaşama neden olduğu belirtilmiştir. Bu okullardaki aile profili; kırsal kesimdeki aile ve maddi durumları zayıf aile olarak ifade edilmiştir. Ailelerin bu okulları seçmelerinde imkanlar veya zorunlulukların etkili olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. YBO'lara vatansever yurttaş kazandırma gözüyle veya değişen yurttaşlık kavramıyla YBO'ya bakışın değiştiği belirtilmiştir. Eğitimdeki gelişmeler kimi katılımcıya göre bu okullara olan talebi etkilerken kimine göre etkilememiştir. Talebin düşüş sebepleri özel okullar, taşımalı eğitim, bilinç, göç olarak belirtilmiştir. Salgın süresince kimi katılımcıya göre bu okuldaki öğrenciler daha fazla eksik kaldı, kimine göre diğer okullardan bir fark yoktu, şeklinde belirtilmiştir.
The demand for regional boarding lower secondary schools has decreased numerically and proportionally in recent years. Despite this decline, no study has been found in the literature on what the reasons might be about this decline. The aim of the study is to analyze the current change in demand for regional boarding lower secondary schools (RBLSS). The model of the study is the qualitative research model. Purposive sampling, one of the non-random sampling methods, was used. The participants consists of 8 school principals, 5 assistant principals, 2 district and 3 provincial department managers related to RBLSS, totally 18 participants. Data collection tool is semi-structured interview form. The data were subjected to content analysis and themed. The results are as follows: The idea that the mission is completed or necessary regarding the RBLSS entity has come to the fore. Looking at RBLSS with their opportunities and threats, it is seen that the opportunities provide discipline, life skills and various opportunities to students; as a threat, it was stated that it caused a life away from family. The family profile in these schools; families in rural areas and their financial situation are stated as weak families. It has been stated that opportunities or obligations are effective in choosing these schools for families. It has been stated that the perspective of RBLSS has changed with the perspective of bringing patriotic citizenship to RBLSS or the concept of changing citizenship. Developments in education have affected the demand for these schools according to some participants, but not according to others. The reasons for the decrease in demand are stated as private schools, transported education, awareness and migration. During the pandemic, according to some participants, the students in this school were more absent, according to some, there was no difference from other schools.
