Abstract

Bu çalışma, Martin Heidegger'in modern felsefede özne merkezli düşünce geleneğine yönelttiği eleştiriyi varlık sorusu çerçevesinde ele almaktadır. Tezde Heidegger'in zaman anlayışı, modern özne eleştirisinin temel boyutlarından biri olarak ele alınmıştır.
This study examines Martin Heidegger's critique of the subject-centered tradition of modern philosophy within the framework of the question of Being. The current conception of the subject, established by Descartes and systematized in various ways by Spinoza and Kant, primarily defines the human being as a knowing consciousness that stands in opposition to the world. According to Heidegger, this model obscures the fundamental modes of human existence and conceals the original relation between the human being and Being itself. To overcome this subject-centered framework, Heidegger reconceptualizes the human being through the notion of Dasein. Dasein is not an isolated, self-sufficient consciousness, but a being that exists in the world, shaped by historicality and temporality. From this perspective, the study demonstrates how Heidegger problematizes the subject– object dichotomy through his analysis of Dasein, and repositions the question of Being at the center of philosophical inquiry. A central dimension of Heidegger's critique of the modern subject is his understanding of time. In contradistinction to the traditional metaphysical conception of time as a sequence of successive 'nows,' Heidegger interprets time in terms of temporality (Zeitlichkeit) as an existential structure of Dasein. The ecstatic unity of future, past, and present reveals the finitude of human existence and its constitutive relation to death, thereby disclosing time as the ontological horizon within which the meaning of Being becomes intelligible. The study also addresses Heidegger's conception of truth as a critique of representational theories of knowledge associated with the modern subject. Truth is not understood as the correspondence between subject and object, but as aletheia, the unconcealment of Being. This process of disclosure becomes possible through Dasein's being-in-the-world, while language and art are examined as privileged sites in which the truth of Being comes to presence. In conclusion, this thesis approaches Heidegger's critique of the modern subject not merely as an epistemological objection, but as a fundamental ontological challenge to the metaphysical foundations of modern philosophy. By critically engaging with the subject conceptions of Descartes, Spinoza, and Kant, the study aims to clarify the philosophical possibilities opened by Heidegger's rethinking of Being, temporality, truth, language, and human existence.
