Abstract
Fiziksel bir ihtiyaç olan yemek, içerdiği kültürel ve dini kodlarla bireylerin kimlik inşasında önemli bir unsur olmasının yanı sıra toplumların her alanına sirayet ederek şekillenmesine neden olmakta, taşıdığı dini simgesel anlamlarla bireylerin beslenme/yemek kültürünün oluşmasını sağlamaktadır. Ayrıca farklı dine inananlarla arasındaki simgesel sınırın çizilmesinde dinin yemek üzerindeki etkisinin başrolde yer aldığı da görülmektedir. Din, yemeği insanın dünyayla ilişkisinin başlangıç noktasına koymakta, inanç sisteminin inşasında dinsel kimlik aracı haline getirmekte ve inananlarına da vaat ettiği cennette mükâfatlandırma aracı olarak sunmaktadır. Bu çalışmada yaşamın her alanında kendini hissettiren bir olgu olarak dinin -İslam dini özelinde- toplumların yemek kültürünü etkilemesi bağlamında bireylerin yemek/gıda tercihlerini nasıl etkilediği ve dinin beslenme üzerinden inanç sistemini nasıl kurduğu ele alınmıştır
