Öğrencilerin Duygusal Zekâ Düzeyleri ile Akademik Başarıları Arasındaki İlişkinin Analizi

Abstract
Duygusal zekâ kavramı, son yıllarda insan
davranışlarının açıklanmasında araştırmacıların yoğun
ilgisini çekmiştir. Bu araştırmanın temel amacı, lise
öğrencilerinin duygusal zekâ düzeyleri ile akademik
başarıları arasındaki ilişkiyi analiz etmektir. Araştırmanın
evrenini Karaman İli oluştururken; örneklemini Karaman
Türkiye Odalar ve Borsalar Birliği Fen Lisesi, Karaman
Bifa Anadolu Lisesi ile Karaman Temizel Ünlü Mesleki
ve Teknik Anadolu Lisesi’nden toplam 563 öğrenci
oluşturmaktadır. Öğrencilerin duygusal zekâ düzeylerini
belirlemek için Reuven Bar-On tarafından geliştirilen
Duygusal Zekâ Envanteri, öğrencilerin akademik
başarılarını tespit etmek için ise genel ağırlıklı not
ortalaması kullanılmıştır. Yapılan analizlerde T testi, tek
yönlü varyans analizi (ANOVA) ve korelasyon teknikleri
kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel anlamlılık düzeyi p<0,05 olarak
kabul edilmiştir. Araştırma bulgularından bazıları şu
şekilde özetlenebilir. Genel ağırlıklı puan ortalaması
yüksek olan öğrencilerin duygusal zekâ düzeyleri de
yüksek bulunmuştur. Fen Lisesi öğrencilerinin duygusal
zekâ düzeylerin Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinkinden,
Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinin de Meslek Lisesi
öğrencilerinkinden daha yüksek olduğu, ayrıca bu farkın
Fen Lisesi ile Anadolu Lisesi öğrencilerinin lehine olduğu
bulgularına ulaşılmıştır. Ayrıca, kız öğrencilerin duygusal
zekâ düzeylerinin de erkek öğrencilerin duygusal zekâ
düzeylerinden daha yüksek bulunmuştur.
The concept of emotional intelligence has attracted the attention of researchers in explaining human behaviors in recent years. The main purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence levels and academic achievement of high school students. The universe of the research included Karaman Province; and research sample consisted of 563 students from Karaman Turkey Chambers and Stock Exchanges Union Science High School, Karaman Bife Anatolian High School, Karaman Temizel Unlu Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Emotional Intelligence Inventory developed by Reuven Bar-On (1997) was used to determine the emotional intelligence levels of the students, and the overall weighted grade point average was used to determine the academic achievement of the students. T-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and correlation techniques were used in the analyzes. Statistical significance level was accepted as p <0.05. Some of the research findings can be summarized as follows. Emotional intelligence levels of the students with a high average weighted average score were also found to be high. It was found that the emotional intelligence levels of Science High School students were higher than those of Anatolian High School students and Anatolian High School students were higher than Vocational High School students, and this difference was in favor of Science High School and Anatolian High School students. Female students 'emotional intelligence levels were higher than male students' emotional intelligence levels.
