dc.description.abstract Historians of the Ottoman Empire have overwhelmingly undermined the roles that tribes played and marginalized them without having sufficient focus on their activities in their studies. The current literature approaches the nomads of the empire as absolute losers of the modernizing period of the Tanzimat and later periods. en_US
