Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis paper develops a brand positioning strategy based on consumer-based brand equity for football team brands. The study is designed and validated in three separate empirical phases. In Study 1, the authors interviewed experts in the field using a qualitative research design and identified the football team brands with the highest consumer-based brand equity. In Study 2, the authors applied explanatory factor analysis to the spectator-based brand equity scale to find the appropriate factors for evaluating the identified team brands. In Study 3, the authors used multidimensional scaling and evaluated and discussed team brands based on the identified factors. As a result of the research, an ‘ideal brand’ had to be designed, taking into account the ten football team brands identified in Study 1 and the six factors identified in Study 2. This brand was rated ‘best’ across all factors and compared with other brands. The authors recommend this new brand positioning strategy to practitioners and emphasise that future studies should be conducted in other countries and for other sports disciplines. © HENRY STEWART PUBLICATIONS.Article Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 20Entrepreneurship in Crisis: The Determinants of Syrian Refugees' Entrepreneurial Intentions in Turkey(Sustainability, 2021) Dawoud, Almohammad; Omar, Durrah; Taher, Alkhalaf; Mohamad, Rashid; 04.03. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aims to identify the determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among Syrian refugees in Turkey. The research, based on planned behaviour theory, focused on the impact of the refugee context on those intentions and thus on the attitudes and behaviour of entrepreneurs. The study is based on the positivist paradigm, and a quantitative methodology was used to collect data. We preferred the method of convenience sampling and chose 122 entrepreneurial projects at the beginning of 2020. The results show that psychological characteristics have no significant impact. Motivation, conviction, and independence are not sufficient conditions for the choice of an entrepreneurial profession. Self-standards do not affect the entrepreneurial intentions of refugees, as support from family and friends may not be sufficient reason to engage in an entrepreneurial project. However, entrepreneurship emerged among the refugees distinguished by perseverance, efficiency, a spirit of innovation, prior experience, adequate perceptions of barriers, and having the resources needed to implement projects. The refugee context has a negative emotional impact on entrepreneurship for reasons related to conditions of instability, language difficulties, the need for capital to invest, and a lack of entrepreneurial knowledge. The research findings can be used to support the role of humanitarian organisations, UN agencies, and host governments in developing a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial intentions in the refugee context. © 2021 by the authors. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aims to determine the levels of knowledge and practices of intensive care nurses regarding medical device-related pressure injuries (MDRPIs). This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out between September 2023 and February 2024, involving 143 nurses working in intensive care units across three hospitals in Türkiye. The data were collected using the demographic form and the Medical Device-related Pressure Injuries Knowledge and Practice Assessment Tool (MDPI-ASSET). Of the nurses, 74.1% have encountered MDRPIs in their unit, 63.6% feel that their knowledge about MDRPIs is insufficient and 90.2% express a desire to receive training about MDRPIs. The participants' total mean MDPI-ASSET score was 11.12 (out of 21). The nurses achieved the highest mean score on the Aetiology/risk factors sub-scale and the lowest mean score on the Staging sub-scale. The analysis revealed significant differences in the mean MDPI-ASSET total scores among nurses based on the status of previous encounters with MDRPIs (t = 2.342; p = 0.021) and their feelings of responsibility for the development of MDRPIs (t = −2.746; p = 0.007). In this study, the knowledge and practices of intensive care nurses regarding medical device-induced pressure injuries were found to be inadequate. Given the frequent occurrence of MDRPIs in intensive care units, it is necessary to support nurses with continuous organizational-level training to improve the quality of care for critically ill patients. © 2024 The Author(s). Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiHuman labor is generally being replaced with robots for high automation, increased fexibility, and reduced costs in modern industry. Few studies consider the sequencedependent setup times in the assembly line balancing literature. However, it should not be overlooked in a real-life setting. This article presents a new mathematical model and variable neighborhood search (VNS) algorithm for mixed-model robotic two-sided assembly line balancing, with the aim of minimizing the cycle time by considering the sequence-dependent setup times. The efectiveness of the proposed VNS is tested with a set of test problems from the literature. The computational results and statistical analysis indicate that the proposed method yields promising results.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 10New Principles of Non-Linear Integral Inequalities on Time Scales(Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences, 2021) Akın, Lütfi; 04.02. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThe classical optimal trading problem is the closure of an initial position in a financial asset over a fixed time interval; the trader tries to maximize an expected utility under the constraint that the position is fully closed by terminal time. Given that the asset price is stochastic, the liquidation constraint may be too restrictive; the trader may want to relax the full liquidation constraint or slow down/stop trading depending on price behavior. We consider two additional parameters that serve these purposes within the Almgren-Chriss liquidation framework: a binary valued process I that prescribes when trading takes place and a measurable set S that prescribes when full liquidation is required. We give four examples for S and I which are all based on a lower bound specified for the price process. The terminal cost of the stochastic optimal control problem is infinity over S; this represents the liquidation constraint. The permanent price impact defines the negative part of the terminal cost over the complement of S. The I parameter enters the stochastic optimal control problem as a multiplier of the running cost. Except for quadratic liquidation costs the problem turns out to be non-convex. A terminal cost that can take negative values implies 1) the backward stochastic differential equation (BSDE) associated with the value function of the control problem can explode to -infinity backward in time and 2) the existence results on minimal supersolutions of BSDE with singular terminal values and monotone drivers are not directly applicable. To tackle these we introduce an assumption that balances the market volume process and the permanent price impact in the model over the trading horizon. In the quadratic case, assuming only that the noise driving the asset price is a martingale, we show that the minimal supersolution of the BSDE gives both the value function and the optimal control of the stochastic optimal control problem. For the non-quadratic case, we assume a Brownian motion driven stochastic volatility model and focus on choices of I and S that are either Markovian or can be broken into Markovian pieces. These assumptions allow us to represent the value functions as solutions of PDE or PDE systems. The PDE arguments are based on the smoothness of the value functions and do not require convexity. We quantify the financial performance of the resulting liquidation algorithms by the percentage difference between the initial stock price and the average price at which the position is (partially) closed in the time interval [0, T]. We note that this difference can be divided into three pieces: one corresponding to permanent price impact (A1), one corresponding to random fluctuations in the price (A2) and one corresponding to transaction/bid-ask spread costs (A3). We provide a numerical study of the distribution of the closed portion under the assumption that the price process is Brownian for I = 1 and an S corresponding to a lower bound on terminal price.Article Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 11Qualitative properties of certain non-linear differential systems of second order(TAYLOR & FRANCIS LTD, 2017) Tunc, Cemil; Dinc, Yavuz; 04.02. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiIn this paper, we study the boundedness and square integrability of solutions in certain non-linear systems of differential equations of second order. We establish two new theorems, which include suitable sufficient conditions guaranteeing the boundedness and square integrability of solutions to the considered systems. The presented proofs simplify previous works since the Gronwall inequality is avoided which is the usual case. The technique of proof involves the integral test, and two examples are included to illustrate the results. (C) 2016 The Authors. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aims to examine how supply chain management practices, such as strategic partnerships with suppliers, customer relationship management, and lean systems, influence competitive advantage in SMEs in Turkey. The study conducted a comprehensive review of relevant literature and developed a theoretical framework and model. Ultimately, this study conceptualizes supply chain management practices as valuable resources that can lead to competitive advantage for SMEs in Turkey. The integration of these practices into daily business operations is viewed as essential for SMEs seeking to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and achieve sustainable growth in an increasingly competitive global market. A questionnaire was designed based on previous literature to measure the variables. To analyze the correlations between the study variables, appropriate statistical methods and multiple linear regression techniques were used to determine the effect of the independent variables on the dependent variable. The data collection process focused on assessing how different SCM practices directly and indirectly influence competitive advantage, considering the unique challenges faced by SMEs in Turkey. The questionnaire was distributed to workers and owners of companies in several states in Turkey, and the distribution process resulted in 437 responses from managers and owners of small and medium-sized companies. The survey instruments underwent a systematic review to evaluate their validity and reliability. The Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was used to analyze the data. Results indicated that supply chain management practices, such as strategic partnerships with suppliers, customer relationship management, and lean systems, significantly predicted competitive advantage. This finding highlights the importance of fostering strong supplier relationships, optimizing customer interactions, and adopting lean methodologies to achieve long-term success. To gain a competitive advantage, the study recommends managers and business owners implement effective supply chain management strategies. In addition, policies should be put in place to encourage the adoption of these practices by SMEs in Turkey. Furthermore, the study calls for increased governmental support in providing training, financial incentives, and infrastructure improvements to enable wider adoption of SCM practices. This study contributes to the current body of knowledge on supply chain management practices. © (2023), (Elite Scientific Publications). All Rights Reserved.
