Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis paper develops a brand positioning strategy based on consumer-based brand equity for football team brands. The study is designed and validated in three separate empirical phases. In Study 1, the authors interviewed experts in the field using a qualitative research design and identified the football team brands with the highest consumer-based brand equity. In Study 2, the authors applied explanatory factor analysis to the spectator-based brand equity scale to find the appropriate factors for evaluating the identified team brands. In Study 3, the authors used multidimensional scaling and evaluated and discussed team brands based on the identified factors. As a result of the research, an ‘ideal brand’ had to be designed, taking into account the ten football team brands identified in Study 1 and the six factors identified in Study 2. This brand was rated ‘best’ across all factors and compared with other brands. The authors recommend this new brand positioning strategy to practitioners and emphasise that future studies should be conducted in other countries and for other sports disciplines. © HENRY STEWART PUBLICATIONS.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 1Energy-Aware Scheduling in Flow Shops: a Novel Artificial Neural Network-Driven Multi-Objective Optimization(Taylor and Francis Ltd., 2025) Aslan, Şehmus; 04.02. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiGroup technology is a managerial strategy used to optimize production by reducing setup times, lead times, and work-in-process inventories. Research on flow-shop sequence-dependent group scheduling problems (FSDGSPs) has primarily focused on minimizing makespan and total flow time to improve efficiency. However, the need for energy-efficient scheduling in FSDGSPs remains underexplored despite increasing sustainability concerns. To address this, the energy-efficient flow-shop sequence-dependent group scheduling problem (EEFSDGSP) is introduced. A novel multi-objective optimization (MOO) technique, the artificial neural network-based multi-objective genetic algorithm (ANN-MOGA), is proposed to minimize makespan and energy consumption in EEFSDGSP. ANN-MOGA advances MOO by using a neural network to evaluate fitness and guide selection, reducing computational complexity versus traditional methods like NSGA-II and SPEA2. A post-processing step (PPANNS) further enhances solution diversity and distribution. Results show ANN-MOGA, especially with PPANNS, outperforms NSGA-II and competes effectively with SPEA2 in larger problem instances. © 2024 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.Article Citation - WoS: 10Citation - Scopus: 20Entrepreneurship in Crisis: The Determinants of Syrian Refugees' Entrepreneurial Intentions in Turkey(Sustainability, 2021) Almohammad, Dawoud; Rashıd, Mohamad; Taher, Alkhalaf; Mohamad, Rashid; 04.03. Department of Political Science and International Relations / Siyaset Bilimi ve Uluslararası İlişkiler Bölümü; 04.02. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aims to identify the determinants of entrepreneurial intentions among Syrian refugees in Turkey. The research, based on planned behaviour theory, focused on the impact of the refugee context on those intentions and thus on the attitudes and behaviour of entrepreneurs. The study is based on the positivist paradigm, and a quantitative methodology was used to collect data. We preferred the method of convenience sampling and chose 122 entrepreneurial projects at the beginning of 2020. The results show that psychological characteristics have no significant impact. Motivation, conviction, and independence are not sufficient conditions for the choice of an entrepreneurial profession. Self-standards do not affect the entrepreneurial intentions of refugees, as support from family and friends may not be sufficient reason to engage in an entrepreneurial project. However, entrepreneurship emerged among the refugees distinguished by perseverance, efficiency, a spirit of innovation, prior experience, adequate perceptions of barriers, and having the resources needed to implement projects. The refugee context has a negative emotional impact on entrepreneurship for reasons related to conditions of instability, language difficulties, the need for capital to invest, and a lack of entrepreneurial knowledge. The research findings can be used to support the role of humanitarian organisations, UN agencies, and host governments in developing a deeper understanding of entrepreneurial intentions in the refugee context. © 2021 by the authors. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiPurpose: This research aims to test the measurement invariance of the consumer-based brand equity scale on Turkish and Syrian university students who live together but are from different cultural groups. Research design, data, and methodology: The consumer- based brand equity scale developed by Buil et al. (2008) is applied to the participants. In testing the consumer-based brand equity scale, the Netflix brand, which is considered well-known by both cultural groups, is preferred. It is thought that choosing an internationally recognized brand would facilitate the conduct of this research. Structural invariance and measurement invariance are tested using structural equation modeling. Results: The consumer-based brand equity scale has measurement invariance on Turkish and Syrian university students. Therefore, it has been revealed that the responses of participants from both cultures regarding the Netflix brand are comparable. Conclusion: The findings of the study provide clues for practitioners to review their distribution strategies. As a matter of fact, cultural studies conducted in different countries are common. Still, the originality of this study is ensured by the profile of participants who live in the same country but come from different countries.Article Examining the Effect of Health Communication Problems on Healthcare System Distrust: a Cross-Sectional Study(Ataturk Universitesi, 2025) Keskin, Hüseyin; Keskin, H.; 04.02. Department of Management / İşletme Bölümü; 04. Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences / İktisadi ve İdari Bilimler Fakültesi; 01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aims to determine the levels of knowledge and practices of intensive care nurses regarding medical device-related pressure injuries (MDRPIs). This descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out between September 2023 and February 2024, involving 143 nurses working in intensive care units across three hospitals in Türkiye. The data were collected using the demographic form and the Medical Device-related Pressure Injuries Knowledge and Practice Assessment Tool (MDPI-ASSET). Of the nurses, 74.1% have encountered MDRPIs in their unit, 63.6% feel that their knowledge about MDRPIs is insufficient and 90.2% express a desire to receive training about MDRPIs. The participants' total mean MDPI-ASSET score was 11.12 (out of 21). The nurses achieved the highest mean score on the Aetiology/risk factors sub-scale and the lowest mean score on the Staging sub-scale. The analysis revealed significant differences in the mean MDPI-ASSET total scores among nurses based on the status of previous encounters with MDRPIs (t = 2.342; p = 0.021) and their feelings of responsibility for the development of MDRPIs (t = −2.746; p = 0.007). In this study, the knowledge and practices of intensive care nurses regarding medical device-induced pressure injuries were found to be inadequate. Given the frequent occurrence of MDRPIs in intensive care units, it is necessary to support nurses with continuous organizational-level training to improve the quality of care for critically ill patients. © 2024 The Author(s). Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiIntegral equations and inequalities have an important place in time scales and harmonic analysis. The norm of integral operators is one of the important study topics in harmonic analysis. Using the norms in different variable exponent spaces, the boundedness or compactness of the integral operators are examined. However, the norm of integral operators on time scales has been a matter of curiosity to us. In this study, we prove the equivalence of the norm of the restricted centered fractional maximal diamond-alpha integral operator M-a,delta(c) to the norm of the centered fractional maximal diamond-alpha integral operator M-a(c) on time scales with variable exponent Lebesgue spaces. This study will lead to the study of problems such as the boundedness and compactness of integral operators on time scales.Article Citation - WoS: 6Citation - Scopus: 10New Principles of Non-Linear Integral Inequalities on Time Scales(Applied Mathematics and Nonlinear Sciences, 2021) Akın, Lütfi; 04.02.
