Factors influencing adaptation of innovations in small ruminant production in the TRC3 Region in Turkey
(Emirates Journal of Food and Agriculture, 2021) Acıbuca, Veysi; Bostan Budak, Dilan; Budak, Dilek Bostan
This study investigated the socio-economic factors affecting the adoption of innovation in small ruminant production in TRC3 region in Turkey. Stratified random sampling technique was used to select 366 small ruminant farmers from the region. Semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect main data for the study. Data collected were analyzed using descritive statistics, t-tests and multiple linear regression analysis. Results of the study showed that the farmers had a mean age of 45,8 years and 97,0% were male. Traditional production was dominant among the small ruminant producers and as the number of animal increases the income increases (p< 0,01). Out of twelve independent variables, eight of them were statistically significant on multiple linear regression analysis. The F-statistics was statistically significant at 1% level on communication behavior and animal health practices; 5% level on age, breeding reasons, milking way, produced products and fold type. The coefficient of multiple determination (R2) value was estimated to be 0,470 this implies that 47,0% of total variation in the output of small ruminant production was accounted for by the independent variables that were fitted into the model. The main problems of small ruminant production were high feed prices, high deaths of lamps/goat, insufficient use of pastures because of security problems and lack of shepherd due to young people unwillingness to live in rural areas

Mardin İlindeki Küçükbaş Hayvancılık İşletmelerinin Yapısal Durumu
(Yüzüncü Yıl Üniversitesi Tarım Bilimleri Dergisi, 2021) Acıbuca, Veysi; Bostan Budak, Dilan; Budak, Dilek Bostan
Bu çalışma, Mardin ilinde küçükbaş hayvancılık üreticilerinin sosyo-ekonomik özellikleri, desteklemelerden faydalanma durumları, birliğe üye olma durumları, hayvan sağlığı uygulamaları ve sorunlarını tespit etmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Çalışma 2019 yılı Şubat ve Haziran ayları arasında yürütülmüş olup araştırma materyalini Mardin ilinin 4 ilçesinde tabakalı tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilen 142 işletmede yapılan anket verileri oluşturmaktadır. Çalışmadan elde edilen veriler neticesinde işletmelerde ortalama 197.4 baş hayvan varlığı olduğu ve işletmelerin % 16.2’sinin hayvancılığı sadece ailenin hayvansal ürün ihtiyacını karşılamak amacıyla yaptığı tespit edilmiştir. İşletmelerde hayvan sayısı arttıkça bilgiye ulaşma isteği ve desteklemelerden faydalanma durumunda artış gözlenmiştir. Elde edilen sonuçlar neticesinde Mardin ilinde küçükbaş hayvancılık faaliyetlerinin gelişmesini önleyen en önemli faktörlerin başında yem giderlerinin yüksek olması ve çoban sıkıntısının geldiği belirlenmiş olup gençlerin hayvancılık faaliyetlerine yönlendirilmesi için çobanlık mesleğinin cazibeli hale getirilmesi önerilmiştir.

The Purposes and Attitudes of Individuals to Use Medicinal Plants in Turkey
(Univ Federal Santa Maria, 2025) Acibuca, Veysi; Bahsi, Nermin; Budak, Dilek Bostan
This study determined the use of medicinal plants as an alternative therapeutic approach in Turkey. Moreover, the study identified the specific ailments for which these plants are employed and the corresponding proportion of usage. Data was collected by face to face interview with using a structured questionnaire form in all regions of Turkey. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used in data analysis. According to the research findings, approximately 65.4% of participants use medicinal plants into their treatment regime, asserting their significant benefits. Furthermore, it is posited that the consumption of medicinal plants has witnessed an upsurge during the Covid-19 epidemic. The participants' attitudes towards medicinal plants are directly influenced by their level of knowledge, convenience and perceived usefulness. The study reveals that participants possess awareness of approximately 200 medicinal plants. Among the most well-known plants are garlic (Allium sativum L.), vera L.), linden (Colocasia esculenta L.), nettle (Achillea millefolium L.), and sage (Salvia officinalis L.). The most critical determinant fort he prevalence of medicinal plant consumption appears to be individuals' positive beliefs regarding their efficacy in curing diseases. Additionally, promoting knowledge about medicinal plants is deemed essential in fostering informed and conscientious consumption practices.
