It affects individuals of all ages, races, and backgrounds. Since drugs used to treat cancer cannot distinguish between cancerous and healthy cells, they cause systemic toxicity along with serious side effects. Recently, controlled drug-release systems have been developed to reduce the side effects caused by anticancer drugs used for treatment. Morin is an anticancer drug with a flavonol structure. It has been extensively researched for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumoral, and antibacterial properties, especially found in Chinese herbs and fruits, and its multiple positive effects on different diseases. In this study, a nanocomposite with magnetic properties was synthesized by coating biocompatible activated carbon obtained using the fruits of the Celtis tournefortii plant on the surface of iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles. Characterization of the synthesized activated carbon-coated iron oxide magnetic nanocomposite was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The cytotoxic effects of the drug-loaded magnetic nanocomposite were examined in HT-29 (colorectal), T98-G (glioblastoma) cancer cell lines, and human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) healthy cell line. The morin loading and release behavior of the activated carbon-coated iron oxide magnetic nanocomposite were studied, and the results showed that up to 60% of the adsorbed morin was released within 4 h. In summary, activated carbon-coated iron oxide magnetic nanocomposite carriers have shown promising results for the delivery of the morin drug.Article Adaptation of the Vicarious Resilience Scale To Turkish: a Validity and Reliability Study(American Psychological Association, 2025) İşıker Bedir, Deniz; Boz, C.; Şeneldir-Patolo, A.; Kitapçıoğlu, S.; Işıker-Bedir, D.; Sanyar, S.; 02.10. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiObjective: The 27-item Vicarious Resilience Scale (VRS) is the first tool developed to measure vicarious resilience in mental health professionals working with trauma survivors. Given that the VRS measures the positive impact on therapists resulting from observing the healing process of trauma victims, it is especially significant to evaluate its validity and reliability in Turkish culture. This study aims to adapt the VRS to Turkish and examine its psychometric properties. Method: VRS was adapted and administered via electronic survey to 337 mental health professionals from around the globe working with survivors of severe traumas, such as earthquake survivors. The validity of the VRS was examined using different techniques: confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and criterion-related validity. Results: CFA yielded seven factors that were consistent with the original form: changes in life goals and perspective, client-inspired hope, increased recognition of clients’ spirituality as a therapeutic resource, increased capacity for resourcefulness, increased self-awareness and self-care practices, increased consciousness of power and privilege relative to clients’ social location, and increased capacity for remaining present while listening to trauma narratives. The Cronbach’s α reliability of the VRS was found to be.95; it displayed positive correlations with posttraumatic growth, psychological resilience, and quality of life, indicating convergent validity. However, it had a negative correlation with depression, anxiety, and stress, indicating discriminant validity. Conclusion: The VRS is a valid and reliable measurement scale by professionals working with trauma survivors to aid the recognition and cultivation of vicarious resilience in Turkish mental health professionals. © 2025 American Psychological AssociationArticle Citation - WoS: 48Citation - Scopus: 50Adolescent Transport and Unintentional Injuries: a Systematic Analysis Using the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019(Elsevier Sci Ltd, 2022) Peden, Amy E.; Cullen, Patricia; Francis, Kate Louise; Moeller, Holger; Peden, Margaret M.; Ye, Pengpeng; Ivers, Rebecca Q.Background Globally, transport and unintentional injuries persist as leading preventable causes of mortality and morbidity for adolescents. We sought to report comprehensive trends in injury-related mortality and morbidity for adolescents aged 10-24 years during the past three decades. Methods Using the Global Burden of Disease, Injuries, and Risk Factors 2019 Study, we analysed mortality and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) attributed to transport and unintentional injuries for adolescents in 204 countries. Burden is reported in absolute numbers and age-standardised rates per 100 000 population by sex, age group (10-14, 15-19, and 20-24 years), and sociodemographic index (SDI) with 95% uncertainty intervals (UIs). We report percentage changes in deaths and DALYs between 1990 and 2019. Findings In 2019, 369 061 deaths (of which 214337 [58%] were transport related) and 31.1 million DALYs (of which 16.2 million [52%] were transport related) among adolescents aged 10-24 years were caused by transport and unintentional injuries combined. If compared with other causes, transport and unintentional injuries combined accounted for 25% of deaths and 14% of DALYs in 2019, and showed little improvement from 1990 when such injuries accounted for 26% of adolescent deaths and 17% of adolescent DALYs. Throughout adolescence, transport and unintentional injury fatality rates increased by age group. The unintentional injury burden was higher among males than females for all injury types, except for injuries related to fire, heat, and hot substances, or to adverse effects of medical treatment. From 1990 to 2019, global mortality rates declined by 34.4% (from 17.5 to 11.5 per 100 000) for transport injuries, and by 47.7% (from 15.9 to 8.3 per 100000) for unintentional injuries. However, in low-SDI nations the absolute number of deaths increased (by 80.5% to 42 774 for transport injuries and by 39.4% to 31 961 for unintentional injuries). In the high-SDI quintile in 2010-19, the rate per 100 000 of transport injury DALYs was reduced by 16.7%, from 838 in 2010 to 699 in 2019. This was a substantially slower pace of reduction compared with the 48.5% reduction between 1990 and 2010, from 1626 per 100 000 in 1990 to 838 per 100 000 in 2010. Between 2010 and 2019, the rate of unintentional injury DALYs per 100 000 also remained largely unchanged in high-SDI countries (555 in 2010 vs 554 in 2019; 0.2% reduction). The number and rate of adolescent deaths and DALYs owing to environmental heat and cold exposure increased for the high-SDI quintile during 2010-19. Interpretation As other causes of mortality are addressed, inadequate progress in reducing transport and unintentional injury mortality as a proportion of adolescent deaths becomes apparent. The relative shift in the burden of injury from high-SDI countries to low and low-middle-SDI countries necessitates focused action, including global donor, government, and industry investment in injury prevention. The persisting burden of DALYs related to transport and unintentional injuries indicates a need to prioritise innovative measures for the primary prevention of adolescent injury. Cancer incidence and mortality rates are on the rise due to a combination of factors, such as a growing population, aging, and poor dietary habits. The Allium turcicum & Ouml;zhatay & Cowley plant is an endemic plant in the area where it grows and is consumed by the public due to its various benefits. This endemic plant, which generally grows in high-altitude regions, is sold in bunches because it is costly, mixed with rock salt, crushed into powder, and consumed as a spice. The cytotoxic and growth-inhibitory effects of A. turcicum & Ouml;zhatay & Cowley herb extract on human glioblastoma U373 cells, human colorectal carcinoma cell HCT-116, and healthy HUVEC cell lines were determined by the MTT method. After 24 and 48 h of application, logIC50 values in HUVEC, HCT-116, and U373 cells were defined as 3.737, 3.765; 3.513, 3.696, 4.476, and 4.104 mu g/mL, respectively. We conducted a cell migration experiment to study the A. turcicum & Ouml;zhatay & Cowley Extract (AT & Ouml;CE) impact on cancer cells' metastatic behavior. Our findings indicate that AT & Ouml;CE has an inhibitory effect on the migration potential of the cells used in the study. We conducted experiments using DPPH, ABTS, CUPRAC, and total phenolic content to assess the antioxidant properties of AT & Ouml;CE. The findings from the antioxidant activity experiments revealed an activity level of 0.20 +/- 0.046 at IC50. This study is the first to compare the protective effects of estradiol and ascorbic acid against malathion-induced nephrotoxicity through histopathological assessment and molecular docking analyses. Materials and methods: This study was conducted using 20 female albino rats that were distributed into sham, malathion, malathion + estradiol, and malathion + ascorbic acid groups. Nephrotoxicity was induced by daily treatment with malathion and the effects of estradiol and ascorbic on nephrotoxicity were evaluated. After 4 weeks of treatment, the animals were sacrificed and the kidneys were examined following hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Histopathology results were supported by molecular docking studies of estradiol and ascorbic acid against a target protein (PDB ID: 2YMX), the peptide inhibitor Fab408 inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The inhibition of AChE is the primary mechanism of the toxic effects of malathion. Results: Histopathological examination revealed a notable elevation (p < 0.001) in degeneration and necrosis within the tubular epithelium and interstitial nephritis in the malathion group compared to the sham group. Daily administration of estradiol and ascorbic acid resulted in a notable reduction (p = 0.0022) in the severity of these histopathological changes in the malathion + estradiol and malathion + ascorbic acid groups compared to the malathion group. Of these, the most significant decreases were observed in the malathion + ascorbic acid group. Docking studies of these compounds against the selected protein (PDB ID: 2YMX) revealed promising binding scores. Ascorbic acid exhibited the highest docking score (-6.44 kcal/mol), indicating a favorable binding interaction with this protein. Conclusion: Estradiol and ascorbic acid exert protective effects against malathion-induced nephrotoxicity, whereas ascorbic acid showed superior efficacy compared to estradiol. This result was further supported by molecular docking studies.Article An Assessment of Intermittent and Continuous Enteral Feeding in Critically Ill Children(Mdpi, 2025) Misirlioglu, Merve; Yildizdas, Dincer; Ekinci, Faruk; Akcay, Nihal; Bingol, Ilyas; Sahin, Ebru; Coban, YaseminBackground: The inability to ensure adequate nutrition for patients, and failure to provide adequate calorie and protein intake, result in malnutrition, leading to increased morbidity and mortality. The present study assesses the two approaches to enteral nutrition-intermittent and continuous enteral feeding-in critically ill pediatric patients in T & uuml;rkiye to determine the superiority of one method over the other. Methods: Included in this multicenter prospective study were patients receiving enteral nutrition via a tube who were followed up over a 3-month period. Anthropometric data, calorie and protein intake, and signs of feeding intolerance were evaluated in a comparison of the different feeding methods. Results: A total of 510 patients were examined. In the continuous enteral feeding (CEF) group, 20.2% of patients developed metabolic abnormalities, and 49.5% experienced enteral nutrition intolerance, both of which were higher than in the intermittent enteral feeding (IEF) group, and the differences were statistically significant. No significant differences were observed between the two feeding methods in terms of reaching the target calorie intake on days 2 and 7 (p > 0.05). On day 7, there were significant differences between the two feeding methods in terms of calorie and protein intake (p = 0.023 and 0.014, respectively). Conclusions: In the present study, assessing the IEF and CEF approaches to enteral nutrition, critically ill pediatric patients receiving intermittent feeding exhibited lower rates of enteral nutrition intolerance and metabolic abnormalities. Furthermore, the calorie and protein intake on day 7 were noted to be higher in the IEF group than in the CEF group. Iron is vital for the body's basic functions. Iron metabolism disorders and inflammation contribute to the neurological complications seen in CP. The purpose of this research was to ascertain the association and correlation between markers of inflammation and iron metabolism in children with CP. Methods: A total of 181 children diagnosed with CP and 111 typically developing children were retrospectively included in the study. Demographic data, blood parameters, C-reactive protein, iron, total iron binding capacity, and inflammation markers were evaluated. Results: C-reactive protein (CRP), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and systemic immuno-inflammatory index (SII) levels of CP children were found to be statistically significantly higher than those of control group children (p < 0.05). Iron (Fe) and ferritin levels were lower in the CP group, while total iron binding capacity (TIBC) was higher. Spearman correlation analysis showed significant correlations between iron, ferritin and TIBC and SII. Conclusions: Iron deficiency and chronic inflammation are associated with the pathophysiology of CP in patients with CP, and therefore it is important to monitor markers of iron metabolism and inflammation in these patients.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 3Assessment of Walnut (juglans Regia L.) Site selection is also critical for agricultural sustainability, as it helps ensure the efficient use of natural resources and avoids environmental degradation. This research proposes an evaluation model for walnut cultivation in the Savur (Mardin, Turkey) district in the Southeastern Anatolia region. Based on literature data, expert opinion, and local walnut producers' perspectives, a spatial decision support system was developed using Geographic Information System (GIS)-based Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). This model provides farmers and stakeholders with a comprehensive evaluation of the different walnut-producing sites in the Savur district. It allows them to make informed decisions about the most suitable areas for walnut production. The land suitability assessment for walnut orchards included four primary evaluation aspects, ten main criteria, and forty-seven sub-criteria. Evaluation criteria were weighted using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). A land suitability map was created using the weighted overlay method in overlap with the evaluation criteria. The results showed 442.56 ha of very highly suitable land, 9789.43 ha of highly suitable land, and 1140.76 ha of moderately suitable land in the Savur district. In order to determine the accuracy of the study model, ROC (Receiver Operating Characteristic) analysis was conducted. As a result of the validation analysis, the constructed model had an Area Under the Curve (AUC) of 0.911, which indicates an excellent fit between the model and reality; therefore, the model is acceptable. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiBackground and Objectives: Postoperative femur fracture in elderly patients is associated with high morbidity and mortality, especially in the intensive care unit (ICU). Various factors, including demographic and laboratory parameters, may influence mortality in this population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of inflammatory and metabolic markers with mortality in ICU patients with postoperative femur fractures and to identify key predictors to enhance risk stratification and improve patient outcomes. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective single-center study, we analyzed 121 patients aged over 65 years with postoperative femur fractures who were admitted to the ICU between January 2023 and January 2024. Demographic and clinical data, including comorbidities, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE II) score, were collected. Laboratory parameters such as white blood cell count (WBC), albumin, C-reactive protein (CRP), D-dimer, Pan-Immune-Inflammation Value (PIV), CRP-to-albumin ratio (CAR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and others were analyzed. Linear regression, logistic regression, and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analyses were performed to determine the predictive value of these markers for ICU mortality. Results: The mean age of the patients was 76.3 +/- 9.6 years, and 52.1% were female. The most common comorbidities were hypertension (67.8%) and diabetes (49.6%). ICU mortality occurred in 24 patients (20%). Significant predictors of mortality included higher CRP (>62.8 mg/L), NLR (>10.0), PIV (>450), and APACHE II scores (>23) (p < 0.001 for all). Lower albumin levels (<2.5 g/dL) were strongly associated with increased mortality (p < 0.001). ROC analysis demonstrated that the APACHE II score had the highest predictive accuracy for mortality (AUC = 0.83), followed by albumin (AUC = 0.79) and PIV (AUC = 0.76). Extended ICU stay (>10 days) was also significantly correlated with increased mortality (p < 0.001). Conclusions: This study successfully demonstrates the utility of combining traditional clinical markers, such as APACHE II score, with novel inflammatory markers, such as PIV, CAR, and NLR, in predicting mortality in ICU patients following femur fracture surgery. Surveys were administered to 382 parents of children who possess a severe disability and data were analyzed via descriptive and inferential statistics. Recently, particularly endemic species have gained attention with the identification of their different ingredients and characteristics and the exploration of their precious features. This research assessed the endemic species Astragalus elatus's bioactive components utilizing UHPLC-Orbitrap (R)-HRMS, its antibacterial qualities utilizing the disc diffusion method, its cytotoxic impact on cervical cancer utilizing the MTT method, and its apoptosis effect by annexin V methods. Additionally, Astragalus elatus's antidiabetic activity was revealed by in silico and in vitro examinations of its inhibitory effect on the enzymes alpha-Amylase and alpha-Glucosidase. Consequently, it was discovered that A. elatus can be utilized in the treatment of cervical cancer and has effective cytotoxic and apoptotic effects on HeLa cells. Additionally, it was detected that A. elatus possesses antibacterial and anti-diabetic properties. Compared to gram-negative bacteria, A. elatus had a greater inhibitory effect on gram-positive bacteria. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aimed to examine the effect of the association between body image and self-esteem levels on attitudes toward sexuality in older adults with chronic illnesses. The research was descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational. The study sample comprised 1,004 people over the age of 65 who visited family health centers in a province in the east of T & uuml;rkiye. The Older Person's Description Form, the Body-Cathexis Scale, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Short Form, and the Sexual Attitude Scale for Elderly People were used for data collection. For the data analysis, Pearson's r correlation test, simultaneous multiple linear regression, and binary logistic regression were employed. The mean age of the participants was 69.97 +/- 5.74 years, and 66.9% were between 65 and 74 years of age. Furthermore, 53.8% of the participants were male and 56.2% had two chronic illnesses. It was found that the participants' age, body image, and self-esteem explained 84% of the total variance in their permissive attitudes toward sexuality. Furthermore, as the age of the older adults with chronic illnesses increased, there were negative effects on their permissive attitudes toward sexuality. However, as their body image and self-esteem levels improved, there was a positive effect on their permissive attitudes toward sexuality. The surface structure of immobilized magnetized B. edulis was characterized by FT-IR, SEM and EDX. Experimental parameters were optimized. Following elution with 1 M HCl, the ions were quantified by ICP-OES. The limits of detection are 21 pg.mL(-1) for Co(II), and 19 pg.mL(-1) for Sn(II). The preconcentration factors are 100 for both ions. The sorption capacities of the sorbent are 35.8 mg.g(-1) for Co(II) and 29.6 mg.g(-1) for Sn(II). The method was applied to the analysis of certificated reference materials and gave >= 95% recoveries with low RSDs. Although it has been known as an orphan disease, it has recently gained attention because of registry-based studies and drug research. Aims: We aimed to use a multicenter database to analyze and compare data regarding the etiology, associated comorbidities, microbiological characteristics, and preventive strategies of bronchiectasis in Türkiye to those of other countries. Study Design: A multicenter prospective cohort study. Methods: The multicenter, prospective cohort study was conducted between March 2019 and January 2022 using the Turkish Adult Bronchiectasis Database, in which 25 centers in Türkiye participated. Patients aged > 18 years who presented with respiratory symptoms such as cough, sputum, and dyspnea and were diagnosed with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis using computed tomography were included in the study. Demographic information, etiologies, comorbidities, pulmonary functions, and microbiological, radiological, and clinical data were collected from the patients. Results: Of the 1,035 study participants, 518 (50%) were females. The mean age of the patients was 56.1 ± 16.1 years. The underlying etiology was detected in 565 (54.6%) patients. While postinfectious origin was the most common cause of bronchiectasis (39.5%), tuberculosis was identified in 11.3% of the patients. An additional comorbidity was detected in 688 (66.5%) patients. The most common comorbidity was cardiovascular disease, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and bronchiectasis was identified in 19.5% of the patients. The most commonly detected microbiological agent was Pseudomonas aeruginosa (29.4%). Inhaled corticosteroids (ICS) were used in 70.1% of the patients, and the frequency of exacerbations in the last year was significantly higher in patients using ICS than in nonusers (p < 0.0001). Age [odds ratio (OR): 1.028; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.005-1.051], cachexia (OR: 4.774; 95% CI: 2,054-11,097), high modified medical research council dyspnea scale score (OR: 1,952; 95% CI: 1,459-2,611), presence of chronic renal failure (OR: 4,172; 95% CI: 1,249-13,938) and use of inhaled steroids (OR: 2,587; 95% CI: 1,098-6,098) were significant risk factors for mortality. Mortality rates were higher in patients with COPD than in those with no COPD (21.7-9.1%, p = 0.016). Patients with bronchiectasis and COPD exhibited more frequent exacerbations, exacerbation-related hospitalizations, and hospitalization in the intensive care unit in the previous year than patients without COPD. Conclusion: This is the first multicenter study of bronchiectasis in Türkiye. Arsenic is one of the PTEs that is thought to be the most poisonous and carcinogenic. Plants exposed to arsenic may experience several morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes-even at extremely low concentrations. Arsenic toxicity to plants varies with its speciation in plants (e.g., arsenite, As(III); arsenate, As(V)), with the kind of plant species, and with other soil parameters affecting arsenic accumulation in plants, according to new study on arsenic in the soil-plant system. Arsenic stress modifies metabolic cascades in plants at different developmental stages by affecting the pattern of gene expressions mediated by small non-coding RNAs (micro-RNAs), which are essential for plant adaptation to oxidative stress and play a key role in the moderation of numerous cellular processes. In this review, we investigated the impact of calcium (Ca2 +) on the toxicity of arsenic in plant and soil environments. Plant grown with arsenic exhibited enhanced arsenic uptake, increased oxidative stress and growth inhibition. Arsenic toxicity modulates carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism along with DNA structure. Role of Ca2+, Ca channels and Ca sensors to signaling pathways also described briefly. A worldwide issue for humanity is the poisoning of soil ecosystems by arsenic. Understanding patient- and provider-related factors behind these delays is crucial. This study aimed to identify nationwide reasons for delayed diagnosis and treatment of locally advanced BC in Turkiye. A prospective, multicenter hospital-based survey was conducted across 35 institutions between 2023 and 2024. Patient- and provider-related delays were assessed via a structured 61-item face-to-face survey, supplemented by clinical data from electronic health records. Delays exceeding 3 months were clinically categorized as significant. A total of 1322 women participated from seven regions across Turkiye. Factors contributing to diagnostic delays on a national level included economic reasons (5.5%), lack of family support (3.3%), lack of knowledge (12.4%), lack of time due to household work (3.8%), difficulty in finding an appointment (6.7%), pregnancy-related reasons (1.1%), fear of losing the breast (8.9%), fear of death (9.8%), and transportation difficulties (5.1%). Provider-related delays were infrequent. About 89.3% of the patients had the initial doctor appointment and 89.6% had the first specialist consultation within one month. Treatment planning was predominantly based on a multidisciplinary team decision in 88.3% of patients. Regarding treatment initiation, 93.2% started required treatment within 1 month of decision. Patient-related factors are the major causes of diagnostic delay in Turkiye. The changes in the flavor components were significantly affected by the production methods and storage time. Glucose content decreased gradually along storage and reduced by about 21.23, 47.22 and 56.65% for TRI, INI and RPF, respectively. However, fructose decreased significantly only in RPF (11.29%). Citric and succinic acids exhibited slight changes, but malic acid showed an increasing trend, especially in RPF (4-fold). Most of the VC in all samples decreased or disappeared after storage. The major quantitative losses in these compounds were found in TRI during the first 3 months as 81.76%. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into acute or chronic care categories. Data were analysed by age, sex, and socio-demographic index, presenting total numbers and contributions to burden metrics such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), Years Lived with Disability (YLD), and Years of Life Lost (YLL). Approximately 68% of DALYs were attributed to chronic care, while 27% were due to acute care. Chronic care needs increased with age, representing 86% of YLDs and 71% of YLLs, and accounting for 93% of YLDs from sequelae. Traditional diagnostic tools, such as intracranial volume assessments, electroencephalography (EEG) signals, and brain magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), have shown utility in detecting the disease. However, artificial intelligence (AI) offers promise for automating this process, potentially enhancing diagnostic accuracy and accessibility.Methods:In this study, various machine learning models were used to detect Alzheimer disease, including K-nearest neighbor regression, support vector machines (SVM), AdaBoost regression, and logistic regression. A neural network was constructed and validated using data from 150 participants in the University of Washington's Alzheimer's Disease Research Center (Open Access Imaging Studies Series [OASIS] dataset). Cross-validation was also performed on the Alzheimer Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) dataset to assess the robustness of the models.Results:Among the models tested, K-nearest neighbor regression achieved the highest accuracy, reaching 97.33%. The cross-validation on the ADNI dataset further confirmed the effectiveness of the models, demonstrating satisfactory results in screening and diagnosing Alzheimer disease in a community-based sample.Conclusion:The findings indicate that AI-based models, particularly K-nearest neighbor regression, provide promising accuracy for the early detection of Alzheimer disease. Materials and methods: A total of 40 patients were allocated to two groups, each with 20 patients. Group 1: Single incision (port) laparoscopic surgical percutaneous Morgagni hernia repair (with a 5 mm Storz laparoscopic scope entered through the umbilicus). Group 2: Single incision (port) laparoscopic surgical percutaneous Morgagni hernia repair (with an 11 Fr [3.6 mm] cystoscope entered through the umbilicus + using forceps + sac plication, and sac cauterization). In Group 1; the sac was not removed. In group 2; we advanced the forceps through the cystoscope, caught the sac, pushed the needle through the sac, plicated the sac, and then cauterized the sac with Bugbee electrode. Results: Of the 40 patients, 70 % (n 1 / 4 28) were male. The symptoms at admission included repeated chest infections (40 %), dyspnea (30 %), vomiting (22 %), and abdominal pain (22 %). No difference was found between groups in terms of age, gender symptomatology, or associated anomalies. The operation time was shorter in group 2 compared to group 1 (p < 0.05; 25 min vs 40 min). Although there was one recurrence in Group 1, no recurrence was reported in Group 2. The recurrence incidence did not differ between groups (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Cystoscope-assisted repair of Morgagni hernia was found to be superior in terms of safety and shorter operation time. Level of evidence: Type III. Type of the study: Retrospective study.
