Article Citation - WoS: 23Citation - Scopus: 31Analysis of Promising Barley (Hordeum Vulgare L.) Lines Performance by AMMI and GGE Biplot in Multiple Traits and Environment(Aloki Applied Ecological Research and Forensic Inst Ltd, 2019) Tekdal, S.; Dogan, S.; Kendal, E.; Karaman, M.The development of stable and adaptable new cultivars are based only on positive results obtained from the interaction between the genotype and the environment. Therefore, the study aimed to test the stability and general adaptability of promising barley lines in terms of grain yield and traits in multi -environments. For this purpose, twelve barley genotypes were used in the study. The trials were carried out with four replications in a random design at seven environments in years 2012-13 and 2013-14. The superior and stable genotypes were identified with GGE biplot and AMMI (Additive main effects and multiplicative interaction) models. The AMMI analysis showed that the major treatment sum of squares was affected by environments (80.6%), GE (14.0%) and genotypes (5.4%), respectively. On the other hand, the first two principal component axes (PCA 1 and PCA 2) contributed to the complete interaction with 88.1%, whereas, PCA 3 and PCA 4 axes only with 12.0%. The GGE biplot indicated that G4 is adaptable for all environments, while Altikat, G2 and G3 showed specific adaptation to El, E3 and E5, G6, G7 and G8 to E6, respectively. According to both techniques, G2, G3, G6, G7, G8 and Altikat were the best genotypes with high yield, whereas G4 was the best with high yield, and stable and general adaptation. The results of biplot indicated that G4 (ARUPO /K8755//MORA/3/CERISE/SHYRIHALEL I/4/CANELA/5/HART-BAR) was recommended for release and it was released as HEVSEL in 2017. On the other hand; G7 and G6 were protected as genetic material to use as parent in breeding programs for yield stability and quality respectively.Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 11Anoxybacillus sp. SO B1-Immobilized Amberlite XAD-16 for Solid-Phase Preconcentration of Cu(II) and Pb(II) and Their Determinations by Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 2015) Oral, Elif Varhan; Ozdemir, Sadin; Dolak, Ibrahim; Okumus, Veysi; Dundar, Abdurrahman; Ziyadanogullari, Berrin; Aksoy, Zehra; Onat, RukenA new method for the determination of Cu(II) and Pb(II) by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) after preconcentrating on a column containing Anoxybacillus sp. SO B1-immobilized Amberlite XAD-16 was developed. The functional groups of Anoxybacillus sp. SO B1 immobilized on Amberlite XAD-16 were characterized in KBr tablets by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry. Various parameters such as pH, amount of the adsorbent, eluent type and volume, and flow rate of the sample solution were studied. The optimum pH values of quantitative sorption for Cu(II) and Pb(II) were found to be pH 7.0 and 5.0 and Cu(II) and Pb(II) ions could be quantitatively eluted with 5.0ml of 1.0mol L-1 HCI and 10.0ml of 0.25mol L-1 HNO3, respectively. Recoveries of Cu(II) and Pb(II) were found to be 100.9 +/- 1.57% and 100.3 +/- 0.49% (N = 5), the limits of detection of Cu(II) and Pb(II) in the determination by FAAS (3s, N = 10) were found to be 0.8 and 1.6 mu g L-1, respectively. The proposed enrichment method was applied for metal ion determination from water samples such as two parts of Tigris River water in Diyarbakir and Elazig, Lake of Hazar in Elazig, and tap water in Diyarbakir. Furthermore, the accuracy of the proposed method was verified by studying the analytical recovery and by analyzing certified reference material (NCS-DC 73350 leaves of poplar).Article An Applıcatıon Of Exergoeconomic Analysıs For Power Plants(Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences, 2018) Ünal, FatihCurrently, energy resources are rapidly consumed. Therefore, scientists and engineers study the effective use of energy. In the present study, a thermodynamic and exergoeconomic analysis was performed in a thermal power plant in Turkey. The study involved determining the thermodynamic properties of 27 node points in a thermal power plant unit, and this was followed by calculating energy and exergy values of every node. Mean exergy costs were calculated by establishing energy and exergy balances of the equipment with respect to the calculated results. Subsequently, lost and damaged energies and exergies were calculated, and exergoeconomic factors were determined. The equipments were compared with each other on a graph based on the obtained results. The maximum rate of exergy loss and cost of exergy destruction corresponded to 79.5% and 886,66 $/h, respectively. The maximum exergy losses in a thermal power plant occurred in the boiler, turbine groups, condenser, heating group, pumps, and auxiliary groups. The highest and second highest law efficiencies of the studied thermal power plant corresponded to 32.3% and 28.5%, respectively. The study also involved presenting suggestions for improvement. Additionally, exergoeconomic analyses were conducted while considering the power plants’ investment and equipment maintenance costs. It is expected that the calculation method and the obtained results can be applied to other thermal power plants.Article Citation - WoS: 4Citation - Scopus: 4Application of Half-Sandwich Metal-Phosphinite Compounds to Biological Activities: Determine the energies of the HOMO and LUMO levels(Wiley Online Library, 2022) Meriç, Nermin; Rafikova, Khadichakhan; Zazybin, Alexey; Güzel, Remziye; Kayan, Cezmi; Karakaş, Duygu Elma; Dündar, Abdurrahman; ISLAM, Sholpan; Okumuş, Veysi; Aydemir, MuratMononuclear transition metal complexes 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldiphenyl[dichloro(η6-p-cymene)ruthenium(II)]phosphinite, (2), 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldiphenyl[dichloro(η6-benzene) ruthenium(II)] phosphinite (3), 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldipheny[chloro(η4-1,5-cyclooctadiene)rhodium(I)]phosphinite (4), 1-(furan-2-yl)ethyldiphenyl[dichloro (η5pentamethylcyclopentadienyl)iridium (III)] phosphinite (5) were synthesized and characterized by microanalysis, infrared, MS, and NMR spectroscopy. Heywood subsp. orientale Grierson and T. nitens (Boiss. & Noë) Grierson together with T. polycephalum (L.) Sch.Bip subsp. argyrophyllum (K. Koch) Podlech, and T. parthenium (L.) Sch.Bip. The fatty acids were determined by using gas chromatography, while phenolics, lipid soluble vitamins and sterols were determined by using HPLC and radical scavenging activities, total phenolics, and FRAP were determined spectrophotometrically. It was found that Tanacetum taxa have palmitic acid (C16:0), and stearic acid (C18:0) as major saturated fatty acids and linoleic acid (C18:2 n6), α-linolenic acid (C18:3 n3) and oleic acid (C18:1 n9) as principal unsaturated fatty acids. It was found that Tanacetum taxa had more total unsaturated fatty acid contents (60.24±0.3%- 70.54±0.29%) than saturated fatty acids and it was found that T. parthenium had the highest total essential fatty acid composition (58.65%±0.59%). It was also reported that the omega6/omega3 ratio of T. cadmium subsp. orientale (8.22) differed from other taxa in this study. Also, the present study showed that Tanacetum had the lowest amount of lipid soluble vitamins. On the other hand, catechin was found to be the main polyphenolic compound in this study and it was determined that T. parthenium had the highest catechin (4479.1±5.71 µg/mg) and total phenolic contents (324.91±2.01 µgGAE/mg) in this study. Rutin was only determined in two endemic taxa T. cadmeum subsp. orientale (23±0.91 µg/mg), and T. nitens (5.7±0.27 µg/mg). Also, the naringenin, vanillic acid and caffeic acid amounts of the endemic T. cadmeum subsp. orientale and T. nitens were higher than other taxa in the study. In addition, it was determined that Tanacetum taxa had a high stigmasterol content. However, T. parthenium had a higher ergosterol content (271±2.36 µg/mg). It was also found that T. parthenium has highest D2, α-tocopherol, retinol acetate, ergosterol, and stigmasterol contents among the studied taxa. In addition, the study showed that Tanacetum taxa have strong DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities. It was concluded that Tanacetum taxa have potent antioxidant capacity.Article Citation - WoS: 22Citation - Scopus: 25Biosorption of chlorophenoxy acid herbicides from aqueous solution by using low-cost agricultural wastes(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 2015) Okumus, Veysi; Celik, K. Serdar; Ozdemir, Sadin; Dundar, Abdurrahman; Kilinc, ErsinThe potential biosorption abilities of apple shell (AS), orange peel (OP), banana peel (BP), and millet waste (MW) as a bio-waste material to remove 2,4-dichlorophenoxy acetic acid (2,4-D), 2,4-dichlorophenoxy propanoic acid (2,4-DP), and 2,4-dichlorophenoxy butyric acid (2,4-DB) from aqueous solution were investigated in batch condition. Optimum biosorption conditions were determined as a function of contact time, pH of the solution, amount of biomass, and initial pesticide concentrations. The concentrations of the pesticides in the remaining solutions were simultaneously determined by high performance thin layer chromatography. Langmuir and Freundlich models were applied to describe the biosorption isotherm of the pesticides by agricultural wastes. The experimental adsorption data were fitted to Langmuir adsorption models (r(2)>0.99). It was found that adsorption of 2,4-DP was higher for all biosorbent. The highest maximum adsorption capacities of 2,4-DP were found as 40.08, 22.71, 33.26, and 45.45mg/g, respectively, for AS, OP, BP, and MW. Maximum adsorption capacity was obtained for 2,4-D as OP>MW>BP>AS, 2,4-DP as MW>AS>BP>OP, and 2,4-DB as OP>AS>BP>MW. From the results, it can be said that MW was an effective biosorbent for removal of 2,4-DP and OP was an effective biosorbent for removal of 2,4-D and 2,4-DB through the studied pesticides. Optimum biosorption conditions were determined as 60min of contact time, 100mg of biomass, AS at pH 6.0, OP at pH 6.0, MW at pH 7.0, and BP at pH 7.0. FT-IR was employed to understand the surface properties of biosorbents. According to the results, agricultural wastes have high adsorption capacity.Other Byung-Chul Han, Enfokrasi: Dijitalleşme ve Demokrasinin Krizi, Ketebe Yayınları(Ilmi Etudler Dernegi (ILEM) İnnsan ve Toplum, 2023) Evren, Muhittin; Bozkurt, Recepİktidar, toplum, özne, kamusal alan ve demokrasi meselesi sosyal bilimcilerin üzerinde durduğu önemli konulardır. Phytoremediation, the use of green plants to remove, sequester or detoxify pollutants offers an environmentally-friendly alternative to engineeringbased methods for remediation. The T2 generations of the ScMTII gene bearing transgenic and non-transgenic tobacco plants were grown hydroponically in Hoagland nutrition solution containing 0, 5 and 10 mg/L Cd in controlled growth room to determine their ability to uptake and accumulate Cd within the shoots and roots. There were no significant shoot and root dry weight differences between transgenic and non-transgenic tobacco plants. The ScMTII gene bearing transgenic tobacco plant accumulated 19.8% higher Cd than the non-transgenic tobacco plant in the above ground parts of the plant during the two weeks exposure period in hydroponic culture. In non-transgenic plant, however, Cd is accumulated mainly in the roots. The results of current study indicate that the use of the ScMTII gene bearing transgenic tobacco plant for Cd phytoremediation is limited. Further studies are needed to test the effectiveness of the ScMTII gene for phytoextraction of other heavy metal ions.Article Citation - WoS: 8Citation - Scopus: 3Cardioprotective Effects of Hypericum Triquetrifolium Turra. Against Cyclophosphamide Related Cardiotoxicity in Rats(Marmara Univ, 2018) Cetik Yildiz, Songul; Keskin, Cumali; Sahinturk, Varol; Ayhanci, AdnanCyclophosphamide (CYP) is commonly used as anticancer agent but its usage is limited by cardiotoxic side effects such as dose-dependent cardiac damage, morphologically defined necrosis and bleeding. Hypericum triquetrifolium Turra. (HT) shows anti-oxidative and anticarciogenic properties with its rich phenolic contents. The current study was designed to investigate the possible protective effect of HT on CYP-induced cardiotoxicity. Albino rats were randomly divided into 9 groups, each included 7 animals. Serum creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB), malondialdehyde (MDA), aspartate transaminase (AST), glutathione (GSH), total antioxidant (TAC) and total oxidant capacity (TOC) levels were investigated. Furthermore, the cardiac tissue samples were investigated histopatologically. While the levels of serum CK-MB, MDA, AST and TOC were high, the levels of serum GSH and TAC levels were low in the CYP groups. It was also observed that CYP-induced cardiotoxicity was dose dependent. In the treatment with CYP plus HT doses there was observed an essential decrease in the CYP cardiotoxicity; decreased cell damage and oxidative stress parameters and also increased GSH and TAC levels. Based on our findings, it can be proposed that HT seed methanol extract was a strong candidate in preventing the CYP-induced cardiotoxicity.Article Changes of scent components with animal manure and chemical fertilizer applications on Rosa damascena Mill.(V. Allézard, 2023) İzgi, Mehmet NecatThis study was conducted to examine the effect of animal manure and inorganic fertilizers on the scent composition of Rosa damascena Mill. in 2022. Animal manure (AM), nitrogen phosphate (NP 20-20-0), diammonium phosphate (DAP 18-46), monoammonium phosphate (MAP 24-61), and triple superphosphate (TSP) were used as fertilizers, along with a control group. Headspace solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography–mass spectrometry was utilized to analyze the volatile components of roses. Major components were heneicosane (15.89–27.76%), citronellol (8.90–18.30%), nonadecene (7.90–13.83%), geraniol (6.14–8.27%), nerol (3.03–6.90%), eicosane (1.13–7.85%), and germacrene-D (2.41–5.45%). The highest percentages of citronellol (18.3%), nerol (6.9%) and total terpenes (55.77%) were obtained by animal fertilization, while the highest percentage of long–chain (aliphatic) hydrocarbon (43.60%) was obtained by NP (20-20) fertilization. The control group had the greatest level of geraniol (8.27%), followed by applications of TSP and animal manure (7.39% and 7.20%, respectively). Methyl eugenol (ME) was most abundantly produced by TSP (0.85%), whereas it was least abundantly produced by the control group (0.13%). The closest ME (0.20%) to the control group was produced by animal manure application. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that animal fertilization used in organic agriculture enhances the quality of plant essential oils.Article Citation - Scopus: 2Classification of Epilepsy Types from Electroencephalogram Time Series Using Continuous Wavelet Transform Scalogram-Based Convolutional Neural Network(ASTM International, 2020) Türk, Ömer; Akpolat, Veysi; Varol, Sefer; Aluçlu, Mehmet Ufuk; Özerdem, Mehmet SiraçDuring the supervisory activities of the brain, the electrical activities of nerve cell clusters produce oscillations. These complex biopotential oscillations are called electroencephalogram (EEG) signals. Certain diseases, such as epilepsy, can be detected by measuring these signals. Epilepsy is a disease that manifests itself as seizures. These seizures manifest themselves in different characteristics. These different characteristics divide epilepsy seizure types into two main groups: generalized and partial epilepsy. This study aimed to classify different types of epilepsy from EEG signals. For this purpose, a scalogram-based, deep learning approach has been developed. The utilized classification process had the following main steps: the scalogram images were obtained by using the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) method. So, a one-dimension EEG time series was converted to a two-dimensional time-frequency data set in order to extract more features. Then, the increased dimension data set (CWT scalogram images) was applied to the convolutional neural network (CNN) as input patterns for classifying the images. The EEG signals were taken from Dicle University, Neurology Clinic of Medical School. This data consisted of four classes: healthy brain waves, generalized preseizure, generalized seizure, and partial epilepsy brain waves. With the proposed method, the average accuracy performance of three of the EEG records' classes (healthy, generalized preseizure, and generalized seizure), and that of all four classes of EEG records were 90.16 % (± 0.20) and 84.66 % (± 0.48). According to these results, regarding the specific accuracy ratings of the recordings, the healthy EEG records scored 91.29 %, generalized epileptic seizure records were at 96.50 %, partial seizure EEG records scored 89.63 %, and the preseizure EEG records had a 90.44 % rating. The results of the proposed method were compared to the results of both similar studies and conventional methods. As a result, the performance of the proposed method was found to be acceptable.Article COHERENT FERTILIZATION REGIMES BOOST PRODUCTIVITY AND NUTRITIONAL QUALITY OF SOYBEAN (Glycine max. L. Sunken and lens-shaped lesions with a light center were also frequently observed on petioles, branches, and stems. Based on morphological characteristics and phylogenetic analysis of the transcription elongation factor 1-α, RNA polymerase second largest subunit, and glyceraldehyde-3- phosphate dehydrogenase loci, the causal agent was identified as Alternaria crassa. The pathogen was successfully re-isolated from inoculated jimson weed plants in the pathogenicity assay, proving Koch’s postulates. Alternaria crassa caused necrotic lesions on potato plants, similar to those of early blight, confirming them as an alternative host of the pathogen. This is apparently the first report of leaf spot caused by A. crassa on jimson weed in Turkey.Article Citation - WoS: 2Citation - Scopus: 3Determination and comparison of metal contents in simulated body fluid medium conditions of the plant species by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS)(Journal of Research in Pharmacy, 2022) Umaz, Adil; Firat, Aydin; Tokul Olmez, Ozge; Firat, Mehmet; Ertas, Abdulselame; Aydin, IsilABSTRACT: The importance of plants in folk medicine and scientific studies is increasing day by day. In this context, the plants pose a danger to human health when they are eaten by the public, consumed as herbal tea or used as medicinal plants especially the toxic metals in their composition. For this reason, determining the macro, micro and toxic element content in the plants is important for health. In this study; the metal contents of root and aerial parts of nine different Salvia species were determined and the chemometric evaluation of the obtained results was made. In the principal component analysis (PCA) made with 20 elements of Salvia species, it was determined that the first two principal components explained 62.60% of the variance and the first six principal components explained 92.70%. When PCA and hierarchical cluster analysis (HCA) results are evaluated; the parts of Salvia species root and aerial parts were determined that were not clearly separated and there was no regional grouping. In addition, Salvia species prepared as herbal tea was left to different simulated body fluid medium conditions, and the changes in metal contents were examined. It was determined that were taken up Cr, Cd, Pb, Cu, Zn metals in the simulated saliva fluid (SSF), Ni, Mn metals in the simulated gastric fluid (SGF), and Na, K metals in the simulated intestinal fluid (SIF). It was determined that Fe metal in almost all Salvia species was not taken from three simulated body fluid mediums. Thus, elements determined which were taken up in body fluid mediums.Article Determination of suitable nitrogen doses for growing second product maize (Zea mays L.) varieties in chickpea planting fields and its economic analysis(AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH COMMUNICATION CENTRE, 2015)The experiment was executed in three repetitions according to “The Split Plots in Randomised Blocks Design” in the 2013- 14 growing seasons. As material; commercial maize varieties Dekalp 5401, Dekalp 5783, Pioneer PR32T83 and Syncero were selected. Three nitrogen doses [0, 150, and 300 kg ha-1 (Ammonium nitrate)] and 80 kg ha-1 phosphorus (P2O5 : TSP: triple super phosphate) were used. According to the two year results, the highest seed yield was obtained with Syncero (9.527 kg ha-1) and Dekalp 5401 (9.491 kg ha-1), the lowest was provided with Dekalp 5783 (823.1 kg ha-1). In terms of the effect of nitrogen doses on seed yield, the highest value was obtained from 300 kg ha-1 application at 10.212 kg ha-1, the lowest value was obtained through the control plot (0 kg ha-1) at 7.844 kg ha-1. The economic analysis, showed that yield level increased as the dose raises. The highest revenue-generating dose was 300 kg ha-1 among the nitrogenous fertilizer applications. In this context, a profit of USD 2.87 was made in return for a cost of USD 1.00. As further doses should be applied for a net determination, it is difficult to estimate if this is the most profitable dose. Under the circumstances, however, it can be stated that the highest profitability is possible through this application (the 3rd).Article Citation - WoS: 5Citation - Scopus: 5Determination of Zinc in Dried Nuts by Slotted Quartz Tube-Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (SQT-FAAS) With Citric Acid-Coated Magnetic Nanoparticle (CAMNP) Based Solid Phase Extraction (SPE)(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2025) Umaz, Kader; Umaz, Adil; Aydin, Isil; Aydin, FiratThis study reports a sensitive method for trace zinc using slotted quartz tube-flame atomic absorption spectrometry (SQT-FAAS) with citric acid-coated magnetic nanoparticle-solid phase extraction (CAMNP-SPE).
