Abstract

The combination of many kinds of renewable energy sources, such as solar power, wind energy with the integration of batteries and diesel generators in the system, is widely used as an alternative energy source in remote areas. Solar and wind energies are widely available in the Southeast Region of Turkey. Therefore, a province situated in the southeastern of Turkey can be autonomous and provide its needs from renewable energy resources. A study demonstrates that the electricity need of a small village located at a distance of four kilometers from Mardin is estimated at 5 kW. Supplying electricity with a Hybrid system was the main goal of this work. This system is constituted primarily by solar energy and wind energy and diesel generators when the consumption increases. The cost analysis of the hole system was done. As a first step, the setup cost of PV and wind turbine was calculated. Besides, it was compared with the cost of installing a line of the local electric network and it is concluded that the use of renewable energy sources cost less in short and long-Term uses. © 2016 IEEE.
