Abstract
Bu çalışmada Türkiye'de Beden Eğitimi denince akla gelen ilk isim Selim Sırrı Tarcan'ın "Sporcu Neler Bilmeli" adlı eserinin Osmanlıca'dan günümüz Türkçesine çevirisi yapılmıştır. Osmanlı Devleti'nin son dönemlerine ve Cumhuriyet'in ilk yıllarına tanıklık eden Selim Sırrı Tarcan, yaşadığı dönem boyunca Beden Eğitimi ile ilgili birçok ilklere imza atmıştır. Aldığı eğitimler ile birlikte fikirleriyle ülkede Beden Eğitimi ve sporun yayılmasında öncü bir isim olmuştur. Selim Sırrı Tarcan'ın Sporcu Neler Bilmeli adlı kitabı eski harfler ile yazılmıştır. Kitap, 1926 yılında Milli Matbaa tarafından yayınlanmıştır. 206 sayfadan oluşan kitap kendi içinde 30 başlığa ayrılmış ve spor branşları hakkında ayrıntılı bilgiler verilmiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, spor alanında önemli bir eseri günümüz Türkçesine çevirerek herkes tarafından anlaşılmasını sağlamaktır. Ayrıca spor konusunda araştırma yapanların başvurabileceği bir kaynağı daha bilim dünyasına kazandırmaktır.
In this study, the first name that comes to mind when it comes to Physical Education in Turkey, Selim Sırrı Tarcan's "What Should A Sportsman Know" was translated from Ottoman Turkish to today's Turkish. Selim Sırrı Tarcan, who witnessed the last periods of the Ottoman Empire and the first years of the Republic, broke new ground in Physical Education throughout his lifetime. He became a pioneer in the spread of physical education and sports in the country with his ideas along with the trainings he received. Selim Sırrı Tarcan's book What Athletes Should Know is written in old letters. The book was published by Milli Matbaa in 1926. The book, which consists of 206 pages, is divided into 30 titles and detailed information about sports branches is given. The aim of this study is to translate an important work in the field of sports into today's Turkish and ensure that it is understood by everyone. In addition, it is to bring another source to the scientific world that those who do research on sports can refer to.
