Abstract
Her cinayetin
In this study, the topic of murders of women, which is the lethal form of violence against women, is discussed. In the latest years, while addressing the murder of women, which is a popular issue in the academic field, it has been observed that the moral dimension of this issue has been neglected. When it is remembered that each murder is an act of violence that extinguish the other's existence, it is an obligation to evaluate the phenomenon of women's murders from a moral perspective that takes the other into the center. In this situation, the theoretical framework of our study is Emmanuel Levinas's ethical theory, which focuses on the difference, freedom and externality of the other in existence. Levinas, who thinks that each experience is a violence ignoring the other's existence and autonomy and not prioritizing the responsibility, presents a radical moral perspective, Lavinas, who presents new theoretical possibilities to understand the experience of the violence, claims that modern philosophy ignores and suppresses the other. In this way, the importance of Levinas' s theoretical legacy emphasises the understanding of women's murders, which are seen as a phenomenon that neglects and extinguishes the women’s existence as a free and autonomous individual. In this study, the quantitative data showing the frequency of murders of women in the world and Turkey is analysed, and it is detected that these murders increased each year compared to the previous year. Despite law and legal legislation, the increasing of the murders of women obliges the case to be examined sociologically and the moral dimension to be considered.
