Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to examine the effects of the intensive interval training method applied to hockey athletes for 8 weeks on some physical and physiological parameters. 24 hockey athletes who actively participated in competitions in the u16 age category and trained regularly at least 5 days a week participated in the study. With the random method, the participants were divided into 2 groups: 12 in the experimental group and 12 in the control group. Intensive interval training method was applied to the experimental group for 8 weeks, 3 days a week, in addition to hockey training. The control group only continued their hockey training. In the study, height, body weight, flexibility, balance, standing long jump, aerobic performance (MaxVO2) and reaction test measurements were performed on the athletes. SPSS 25.0 program was used to analyze the data collected within the scope of the research. In the study, pretest and posttest values within and between groups were compared. Statistical significance level was determined as p<0.05. In the research, when the pre-test and post-test intra-group values were examined, a positive significant difference was detected in the MaxVO2 and reaction values in the experimental group, while a negative significant difference was detected in the flexibility value (p<0.05). No significant difference was detected in the parameters of balance and standing long jump (p>0.05). A negative significant difference was detected in flexibility and MaxVO2 performance in the control group (p<0.05). No significant difference was detected in balance, standing long jump, and reaction parameters (p>0.05). No significant difference was found in the comparison of pre-test data between the experimental and control groups (p>0.05). In the comparison of post-test data between the experimental and control groups, there was a significant difference in balance, standing long jump, aerobic performance and reaction parameters (p<0.05), while no significant difference was found in the flexibility parameter (p>0.05). As a result, it can be said that intensive interval training is an effective training method in improving the physical and physiological parameters of hockey athletes.
