Abstract
Türkiye'de son yıllarda uygulanan para politikası uygulamaları döviz kurundaki ani yükselmelere ve enflasyonun sürekli artmasına yol açarak tüketicileri ve işletmeleri etkileyen ekonomik krizin yaşanmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. 'Kriz nedeniyle işletmeler çeşitli zorluklarla karşı karşıya kalmış ve üretim süreçleri kısmen ya da tamamen durma noktasına gelmiştir.' Bu çalışmanın amacı, Mardin ilinde faaliyette bulunan uluslararası işletmelerin ekonomik krizden nasıl etkilendiklerini, bu süreçte ne tür stratejiler uyguladıklarını ve bu uygulanan stratejilerin işletmelerin performanslarına ne tür katkıları olduğunu anlamaya çalışmaktır. Çalışma kapsamında, Mardin ilinde faaliyette bulunan farklı sektörlerden 13 uluslararası firma ile yarı yapılandırılmış mülakatlar vasıtasıyla veriler toplanmış ve analizler yapılmıştır. Analizler neticesinde elde edilen verilere göre yaşanan krizin firmalarda; üretimin azalmasına ve durmasına, maliyetlerde artış yaşanmasına, istihdamda azalmaya, yeni yatırım ve planlarda belirsizliğe, talebin azalmasına, finansal erişimde engellere ve finansal zorluklar çekilmesine ve hammadde alımında zorluk yaşanmasına neden olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Krizden etkilenen firmaların, mevcut durumu korumaya yönelik stratejiler geliştirdikleri; bu kapsamda tasarruf, çeşitlendirme, yenilik/inovasyon ve finansal stratejilere yöneldikleri, ayrıca çalışan desteği, motivasyon ve kalite odaklı stratejiler benimsedikleri tespit edilmiştir. Firmalar tarafından uygulanan başarılı stratejilerin firmaların mevcut durumu koruyarak hayatta kalmalarına, verimlilik sağlayarak başarılı olmalarına ve rekabet avantajı sağlayarak büyümelerine katkı sağladığı tespit edilmiştir.
The monetary policy practices implemented in Turkey in recent years have led to sudden increases in the exchange rate and a continuous increase in inflation, paving the way for the economic crisis affecting consumers and businesses. With the crisis, businesses have experienced various difficulties and their production has come to a partial or complete halt. This study aims to understand how international businesses operating in Mardin province were affected by the economic crisis, what kind of strategies they applied in this process and what kind of contributions these strategies made to their business performance. Within the scope of the study, data were collected and analyzed through semi-structured interviews with 13 international firms from different sectors operating in Mardin province. The data obtained from the analyses demonstrate that the crisis has caused a decline in production, an increase in costs, a decrease in employment, uncertainty regarding new investments and plans, a decrease in demand, obstacles in financial access and financial difficulties, and difficulties in purchasing raw materials. In order to manage this process, it has been determined that the firms affected by the crisis have developed strategies to maintain the current situation, savings, diversification, innovation and financial strategies, as well as employee support and motivation and quality-oriented strategies. It is acknowledged that the effective strategies employed by these firms contribute to their survival by preserving the status quo, their success by enhancing efficiency, and their growth by providing a competitive advantage.
