Abstract
One of the oldest monasteries in Mardin in the countryside of Nusaybin, Mar Augin Monastery (4th Century AD), was abandoned for a long time due to security problems in the region and then opened again. Mardin Metropolitan Municipality Directorate for the Conservation, Implementation and Supervision of Cultural Assets (KUDEB) was applied for the repair in June 2014. Relevant permission after the application of Mardin Syrian Old Deyrulzafaran Monastery and Churches Foundation to the Council for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Diyarbakir was obtained on July 2014 with the decision "Simple Repair". Because of the financial impossibilities of the monastery, which is in need of restoration, some interventions have been made as repair and maintenance. The aim of the study is to examine the maintenance and repair interventions of the monastery that has a deep-rooted history. Within the permission scope, Mar Augin Monastery's roof and cradle roof insulation, maintenance of carved lime stone places and joints of stonewalls were built. The application started on September 1, 2014 and lasted about 3 months. For the monastery located in the area where security problems still exist, conservation projects should be prepared and a resource for repair must be found immediately.
