Abstract
The French and Russian revolutions were two revolutions that emerged under different historical conditions and ideological contexts, and their revolutionary trajectories were parallel in the context of the transition from a moderate period to a radical period. The French Jacobins, who represented the radical period of the French Revolution, and the Bolsheviks, who represented the radical period of the 1917 Russian Revolution, despite having different ideological goals and philosophical foundations, showed similarities in terms of the practices and methods they implemented to achieve their goals. The study focuses on the political and ideological foundations of revolutionary violence in the radical phases of both revolutions, revealing the existence of a common ideological basis that led to revolutionary violence. At this point, the study emphasizes that the Bolsheviks adopted the representative understanding of the French Jacobins and examines the role this understanding played in the revolutionary violence of the Jacobins and Bolsheviks.
