Abstract
The AK Party (Justice and Development Party) is a political party founded by the reformist faction of the National Vision movement when the FP (Virtue Party) was banned. Since it comes from the National Vision tradition, a natural connection has been established between the AK Party and Islamism. However, the AK Party declared that it was not an Islamist political movement and shaped its politics within the framework of EU norms and discourse such as freedom, democracy and human rights in general. The February 28 conjuncture, especially the Western political concepts such as democracy and liberalism, which were on the agenda of Islamists in the 1990s, the power experiences of the Islamist movements and the open structure of Islamism, led to the diversification of Islamist interpretations / practices in the intellectual and political sphere. Basically, as a result of their different approaches to the existing political system and democracy, Islamists approached the AK Party within the framework of differentiated Islamism and democracy interpretations. It is possible to follow the different views of the Islamists to the AK Party and the underlying causes through various Islamist magazines. Thus, in the study, different approaches of four Islamist magazines to the period of the AK Party between 2001-2007 were examined.
