Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThe inhibition effect of 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-2-imidazolidinone (2-HEI) on mild steel (MS) corrosion in 0.5M HCl solution was investigated at different inhibitor concentration and temperature by electrochemical experiments, such as linear polarization resistance (LPR), electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization and quantum chemical calculations. The inhibitor adsorption process on mild steel in 0.5M HCl system was studied at different temperatures (20 C–50 C). Furthermore, the surface morphology of MS was also investigated with SEM in the absence and the presence of inhibitor. The adsorption of 1-(2-Hydroxyethyl)-2-imidazolidinone on MS surface is an exothermic process and this process obeys the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Gereç ve Yöntem: Tanımlayıcı tipteki bu çalışma, Mardin ilinin, farklı sosyoekonomik düzeyindeki, üç ilköğretim okulunda, 3460 öğrenciyle yürütüldü. Öğrencilerin, obeziteleri Dünya Sağlık Örgütü’ne (WHO), kan basınçları Amerikan Pediatri Akademisi’nin yayınladığı standartlara göre tanımlandı. Çalışmanın verileri SPSS paket programında, ki-kare testi ile değerlendirildi. İstatistiksel anlamlılık p <0.05 olarak belirlendi. Bulgular: Fazla ağırlığı olan çocuk % 15.78, obez olan çocuk oranı % 10.57’ dir. Obezite sıklığı kız çocuklar için % 9.05 ve erkek çocuklar için % 11.97’ dir ( p<0.01). Öğrencilerin % 1.30’ unda presistolik hipertansiyon, % 2.02’ sinde sistolik hipertansiyon, % 2.65’ inde prediyastolik hipertansiyon ve % 2.74’ ünde diyastolik hipertansiyon görüldü. Ailesinde hipertansiyon olanlar ve onların çocukları arasında hipertansiyon ilişkisi yoktu. İki saatin üzerinde televizyon seyreden çocuklarda, obezite mevcuttu ( p=0.03). Sonuç: Okul sağlığı açısından, hipertansiyon ve obezite değerlendirmeleri gereklidir. Bu nedenle okul çağı çocuklarının muayenelerinde, bu konu mutlaka yer almalı, hipertansiyon ve obezite konusunda öğrencilere ve ailelerine eğitimler verilmelidir.Article A hybrid approach consisting of 3D depthwise separable convolution and depthwise squeeze‑and‑excitation network for hyperspectral image classifcation(Springer Heidelberg, 2024) Gungor, Mustafa; Asker, Mehmet EminHyperspectral image classification is crucial for a wide range of applications, including environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, and mining, due to its ability to capture detailed spectral information across numerous wavelengths. However, the high dimensionality and complex spatial-spectral relationships in hyperspectral data pose significant challenges. Deep learning, particularly Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), has shown remarkable success in automatically extracting relevant features from high-dimensional data, making them well-suited for handling the intricate spatial-spectral relationships in hyperspectral images.This study presents a hybrid approach for hyperspectral image classification, combining 3D Depthwise Separable Convolution (3D DSC) and Depthwise Squeeze-and-Excitation Network (DSENet). The 3D DSC efficiently captures spatial-spectral features, reducing computational complexity while preserving essential information. The DSENet further refines these features by applying channel-wise attention, enhancing the model's ability to focus on the most informative features. To assess the performance of the proposed hybrid model, extensive experimental studies were carried out on four commonly utilized HSI datasets, namely HyRANK-Loukia and WHU-Hi (including HongHu, HanChuan, and LongKou). As a result of the experimental studies, the HyRANK-Loukia achieved an accuracy of 90.9%, marking an 8.86% increase compared to its previous highest accuracy. Similarly, for the WHU-Hi datasets, HongHu achieved an accuracy of 97.49%, reflecting a 2.11% improvement over its previous highest accuracy; HanChuan achieved an accuracy of 97.49%, showing a 2.4% improvement; and LongKou achieved an accuracy of 99.79%, providing a 0.15% improvement compared to its previous highest accuracy. Comparative analysis highlights the superiority of the proposed model, emphasizing improved classification accuracy with lower computational costs.Article A Hybrid Machine Learning Approach for Predicting Power Transformer Failures Using Internet of Things-Based Monitoring and Explainable Artificial Intelligence(IEEE-inst Electrical Electronics Engineers inc, 2025) Ozupak, Yildirim; Alpsalaz, Feyyaz; Elbarbary, Zakaria M. S.; Aslan, EmrahPower transformers are critical components in ensuring the continuous and stable operation of power systems. Failures in these units can lead to significant power outages and costly downtime. Existing maintenance strategies often fail to accurately predict such failures, highlighting the need for novel predictive approaches. This study aims to improve the reliability of power systems by predicting transformer failures through the integration of IoT technologies and advanced machine learning techniques. The proposed hybrid model combines the LightGBM algorithm with GridSearch optimization to achieve both high predictive accuracy and computational efficiency. In addition, the model enhances interpretability by incorporating SHapley Additive exPlanations (SHAP) and Local Interpretable Model-Agnostic Explanations (LIME) for transparent decision making. The study presents a detailed comparison of different classification algorithms and evaluates their performance using metrics such as accuracy, recall, and F1 score. The results show that the hybrid model outperforms other methods, achieving an accuracy of 99.91%. The SHAP and LIME analyses provide engineers and researchers with valuable insights by highlighting the most influential features in failure prediction. In addition, the model's ability to efficiently handle large data sets enhances its practicality in real-world power systems. By proposing an innovative approach to failure prediction, this research contributes to both the theoretical foundation and practical advancement of sustainable and reliable energy infrastructures.Article A Rare Cause of Dysphagia: A Giant Ganglioneuroma in Parapharyngeal Space(Springer, 2022) Aslan, Mehmet; Dogukan, Fatih MertParafarengeal ganglioneuroma is a very rare benign tumor originating from the sympathetic nervous system that produces mass and functional effects. Ganglioneuroma is most commonly caused by the posterior mediastinal, retroperitoneal area and adrenal glands. Generally, they do not present any additional signs or symptoms other than mass. Horner’s syndrome may sometimes occur due to the compression of the sympathetic chain. A 41-year-old male patient with a long-standing mass in the lateral compartment of the left neck was admitted to our clinic. The patient was operated, and the pathological result of the mass was reported as ganglioneuroma. Tumors of the parapharyngeal region are very rare among head and neck tumors. Lipomas also constitute a tiny proportion of parapharyngeal tumors so parapharyngeal area lipomas are very rare in the literature. Due to anatomical location, these tumors treatment is challenging. Clinical Report: A 20-year-old male patient admitted to our department with complaints of swallowing difficulty and a mass on the right side of the neck. Magnetic resonance imaging was performed, and it was reported as a 6 4.5 cm lipoma. He underwent excision of parapharyngeal area lipoma by a transoral approach. Conclusion: Parapharyngeal lipomas are very rare, and difficult to diagnose before they turn out symptomatic. The primary treatment approach in tumors of the parapharyngeal area is surgery and the surgical approach should be chosen according to the anatomical location of the lesion. © 2021 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Article A Systematic Review of Scenario Planning Studies in Tourism and Hospitality Research(Routledge Journals, Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2024) Costa, Carlos; Seyitoglu, FarukThis study attempts to enlighten the status of scenario planning studies and their content through a systematic literature review. A search of major databases (Scopus and Web of Science) was performed to determine relevant articles. Fifty-seven articles were identified and analysed according to their categories, themes, topics, and methods-techniques. Based on the content analysis of studies, two main categories, including seven themes, were identified: internal complexity of tourism (tourism planning and development, tourism education, tourism demand forecasting, and tourism types), external uncertainties (climate change and green economy, health care and security, and social media impacts). Though not many studies found, the categories, themes, topics and, methods-techniques of scenario planning studies in tourism and hospitality varies. However, there is still a need for scenario planning studies in tourism and hospitality literature. In this vein, an important implication of this study is that much remains to be done in benefiting from the scenario planning approach to contribute crisis management knowledge in tourism and hospitality research.Article Ability of Cha2ds2-vasc/R2cha2ds2-vasc Scores To Predict Complications Related To Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices(Wiley, 2025) Aktan, Adem; Kilic, Raif; Guzel, Hamdullah; Tastan, Ercan; Oksul, Metin; Guzel, Tuncay; Soner, SerdarBackgroundGlobally, the number of cardiac implantable electronic devices (CIEDs) is increasing. In our study, we aimed to investigate whether CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc and R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc scores are predictive of CIED-related complications. MethodsOur investigation was carried out with a multicenter retrospective design. Patients who underwent CIED surgery at two cardiac centers in Turkey between January 2011 and May 2023, 1676, were evaluated. The patients were divided into two groups according to their R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc scores. Patients with R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc >= 5 were included in group 1 (380 patients), and patients with R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc < 5 (1296 patients) were included in group 2. The primary outcome was defined as the cumulative events. Each component of cumulative events, such as hematoma, pericardial effusion, pneumothorax, and infection, was also defined as a secondary outcome. ResultsThe study's patient population had an average age of 62.9 +/- 14 years. Pneumothorax (1.8% vs. 1.3%, p = 0.444), pericardial effusion or tamponade (0.35% vs. 0.2%, p = 0.659), and clinically significant hematoma (1.1% vs. 0.6%, p = 0.376) were comparable between the groups. Infection-related devices and cumulative events classified as primary outcomes were higher in the R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc >= 5 group (6.1% vs. 1.2%, p < 0.001; 7.6% vs. 3.2%, p < 0.001, respectively). Modeling analyses showed that the CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score and HT were also independent predictors of device-related infection and cumulative events. ConclusionIn the R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc >= 5 groups, infection related to the device system and cumulative events were higher. Patients with an R(2)CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score of 5 or more and a high CHA(2)DS(2)-VASc score should be evaluated more carefully regarding infection and cumulative events before and after the operation.Article Citation - WoS: 3Citation - Scopus: 6Abluted capitalism: Ali Shariati's critique of capitalism in his reading of Islamic Economy(Sage, 2015) Şengül, Serdar; 02.01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiIslamic sociologist Ali Shariati is a leading figure of the reconstruction of religious thought in the Islamic world known especially for his anti-capitalist stance and leftist reading of Islamic history. In the philosophy of history that he developed, he classified religions as religions of tawheed (unicity of God) and religions of shirk (multiple gods). According to this new reading of history, the main struggle is not between religion and secularism but between religions of tawheed and of sheerk. The issue of the gaining and the distribution of the property is central to his classification. Shariati argued that followers of tawheed and of sheerk can be found in all religions including Islam. To support his argument Shariati explored how capitalistic understanding of Islam has been developed and legalised while anti-capitalist messages and orders of Islam were marginalised and illegalised just after the death of the Prophet Mohammed. He analysed the rivalry between his close companions over the content of a proper Islamic economic order and how this rivalry gave way to two contradicting understanding of Islam, marks of which can be seen today in the contemporary Muslim world. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study focused on academic achievement among a sample of 810 students studying in vocational and nonvocational high schools in Turkey. It specifically investigated (a) the current levels of academic achievement and psychological resilience, (b) the relationships between levels of academic achievement and psychological resilience, (c) whether levels of academic achievement and psychological resilience will change based on sociodemographic variables, and (d) whether psychological resilience had a mediating effect on the relationship between sociodemographic variables and academic achievement. Quantitative data were collected through student records and questionnaires and analyzed via descriptive, correlational, and regression analysis and tests of difference (ANOVA). Findings indicated that academic achievement and psychological resilience were significantly related and they changed based on sociodemographic factors, namely income level and school type. In addition, psychological resilience had a significant mediating effect between academic achievement and sociodemographic factors. Findings indicate that the prevailing emphasis on enhancing academic achievement requires consideration of students’ psychological and sociodemographic conditions, while further research needs to investigate ways of carrying out this task. © 2018, © 2018 International School Psychology Association.Article Acceptance of Diversity, Social Media Use, and Labeling of Refugees in Türkiye: A Mediation Analysis from a Social Work Perspective(Routledge, 2025) Aslan, Yavuz; Kocak, OrhanThis study examines the relationships between acceptance of diversity, social media use, and the labeling of refugees in Türkiye, focusing on the mediating role of social media use. Grounded in Goffman’s Labeling Theory and approached from a social work perspective, the study utilized a cross-sectional, correlational design. Data were collected from 431 participants via an online survey. Confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling were employed to analyze the data. The findings revealed that acceptance of diversity was negatively associated with social media use and the labeling of refugees, while social media use was positively associated with refugee labeling. Moreover, social media use mediated the relationship between acceptance of diversity and labeling. These results underscore the dual role of social media as both a space for intercultural communication and a platform for spreading exclusionary narratives. The study contributes to the literature by highlighting the importance of promoting inclusive digital environments. It provides practical implications for developing anti-discriminatory interventions within social work practice and media literacy programs. © 2025 Elsevier B.V., All rights reserved.Article Accumulation Potential of Lead and Cadmium Metals in Maize (Zea mays L.) and Effects on Physiological-Morphological Characteristics(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2025) Elik, Ümit; Gul, Zeynep DumluPhytoremediation stands at the forefront of modern environmental science, offering an innovative and cost-effective solution for the remediation of heavy-metal-contaminated soils through the natural capabilities of plants. This study aims to investigate the effects of lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) metals on plant growth (e.g., seedling height, stem diameter, fresh and dry weight), physiological properties (e.g., tissue relative water content, tissue electrical conductivity), and biochemical parameters (e.g., chlorophyll content, superoxide dismutase (SOD), catalase (CAT), peroxidase (POD) enzyme activities) of maize compared to the control group under greenhouse conditions at the Atatürk University Plant Production Application and Research Center. The results show that plant height decreased by 20% in the lead (Pb3000) application and by 42% in the cadmium (Cd300) application compared to the control group. The highest Pb dose (Pb3000) caused a 15% weight loss compared to the control, while the highest Cd dose (Cd300) caused a weight loss of 63%. It affects individuals of all ages, races, and backgrounds. Since drugs used to treat cancer cannot distinguish between cancerous and healthy cells, they cause systemic toxicity along with serious side effects. Recently, controlled drug-release systems have been developed to reduce the side effects caused by anticancer drugs used for treatment. Morin is an anticancer drug with a flavonol structure. It has been extensively researched for its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antitumoral, and antibacterial properties, especially found in Chinese herbs and fruits, and its multiple positive effects on different diseases. In this study, a nanocomposite with magnetic properties was synthesized by coating biocompatible activated carbon obtained using the fruits of the Celtis tournefortii plant on the surface of iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles. Characterization of the synthesized activated carbon-coated iron oxide magnetic nanocomposite was confirmed by Fourier transform infrared, scanning electron microscopy, energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometry, X-ray diffraction, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential, and vibrating sample magnetometry. The cytotoxic effects of the drug-loaded magnetic nanocomposite were examined in HT-29 (colorectal), T98-G (glioblastoma) cancer cell lines, and human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) healthy cell line. The morin loading and release behavior of the activated carbon-coated iron oxide magnetic nanocomposite were studied, and the results showed that up to 60% of the adsorbed morin was released within 4 h. There are no currently registered fungicides labeled for its control. In greenhouse experiments conducted in 2012 and 2013, 1-year-old potted apricot rootstock Zerdali and cherry rootstock Mahaleb plants were treated either with foliar spray of fosetyl-Al (140, 160, and 180 g a.i./100 l) or phosphorous acid (187.5, 200, and 215 g a.i./100 l) or soil drench of 100 ml of metalaxyl-M (= mefenoxam)+mancozeb (12+192, 16+256, and 20+320 g a.i./100 l) one day after wound inoculation of crowns and roots. In both years, phosphorous acid at 200 and 215 g a.i./100 l, fosetyl-Al at 160 and 180 g a.i./100 l, and metalaxyl-M+mancozeb at 20+320 g a.i./100 l significantly reduced the root rot severity on Zerdali by 70.68-80.00% and crown rot severity on both Zerdali and Mahaleb, by 68.32-91.96 and 74.21-82.60%, respectively, compared with phosphorous acid at 187.5 g a.i./100 l, fosetyl-Al at 140 g a.i./100 l, metalaxyl-M+mancozeb at 12+192 and 16+256 g a.i./100 l and control. Moreover, fosetyl-Al at 180 g a.i./100 l and metalaxyl-M+mancozeb at 20+320 g a.i./100 l significantly reduced the root rot severity on Mahaleb compared to fosetyl-Al at 140 and 160 g a.i./100 l, metalaxyl-M+mancozeb at 12+192 and 16+256 g a.i./100 l, phosphorous acid treatments and control in 2012, providing the best control of the disease by 88.00-90.68%. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThis study aimed to evaluate the antifungal activity of copper-boron (Cu-B) nanoalloys against a range of Phytophthora species, including P. capsici, P. citrophthora, P. palmivora, P. cinnamomi, P. nicotianae, P. cactorum, P. plurivora, P. inundata, and P. megasperma. The nanoalloys were synthesized via mechanical alloying under an argon atmosphere, resulting in the formation of nanocrystalline Cu-B nanoalloys with irregular morphology and particle sizes ranging from 50 to 240 nm. At a concentration of 250 µg mL−1, the Cu-B nanoalloys demonstrated complete inhibition of mycelial growth, sporangium production, and zoospore germination in all tested Phytophthora species. The EC50 values for mycelial growth ranged from 28.02 to 120.17 µg mL−1, while for sporangium production and zoospore germination, they were below 10 µg mL−1. Furthermore, the nanoalloys exhibited fungicidal activity against specific Phytophthora species, such as P. capsici, P. citrophthora, P. inundata, and P. megasperma, at concentrations of 100, 250, 250, and 250 µg mL−1, respectively. Notably, the Cu-B nanoalloys displayed significant protective and curative effects on tuber rot severity in P. nicotianae-inoculated potatoes, resulting in reductions of 94.13% and 92.61% compared to the control, respectively, at a concentration of 10 µg mL−1 (P < 0.05). We examined the clinical follow-up, complications, and results of cyanide poisoning cases that occurred after eating the pits and seeds of plants containing cyanide glycosides, such as apricot kernels and almonds. Methods : Between 01/01/2017 and 01/08/2022, 14 children aged 1-18 years who were followed up with a prediagnosis of cyanide poisoning in our Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) were retrospectively analysed. Results : Eight of the patients followed with a preliminary diagnosis of cyanide poisoning were female and six were male. The most common admission month was July (42.8%) coinciding with the agricultural season. The most common symptoms at presentation were weakness and fatigue (n = 7). In the PICU, 4 patients presented lip cyanosis; 3, altered level of consciousness. Vomiting, seizure, headache, dizziness and palpitatons were less frequent. Four patients were treated with hydroxocobalamin (Cyanokit (R) ) as an antidote due to acidosis in their blood gases. All patients treated for cyanide poisoning were discharged. Conclusions : Cyanide poisoning should be considered in paediatric patients with suspicious findings, sudden loss of consciousness, increased anion gap acidosis and lactic acidosis. The history of eating the seeds of plants such as apricot and almonds should be investigated .Article Acute Toxicity of Deltamethrin on the Fatty Acid Composition of Phospholipid Classes in Liver and Gill Tissues of Nile Tilapia(Springer int Publ Ag, 2017) Cengiz, E. The purpose of this study was to clarify the acute toxicity of deltamethrin on the fatty acids of phospholipid (PL) classes in liver and gill of Nile tilapia. The fatty acids of PL classes were analyzed by gas chromatography. Deltamethrin brought about differences in the fatty acids of the PL classes in the liver and gill. In the liver of exposed fish, 16:0, 18:2(n-6), 22:6(n-3) in phosphatidylcholine (PC); 16:0, 18:1(n-9), 18:2(n-6), 20:4(n-6), 22:6(n-3) in phosphatidylethanolamine (PE); 16:0, 18:0, 18:1(n-9), 20:4(n-6), 22:6(n-3) in phosphatidylinositol (PI) and in phosphatidylserine (PS) 16:0, 18:1(n-9), 20:4(n-6), 22:6(n-3) were the affected fatty acids. There were significant alterations in Sigma MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids), a(n-3)PUFAs (polyunsaturated fatty acids) and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PC; Sigma SFAs (saturated fatty acids), Sigma MUFAs, Sigma PUFAs, Sigma(n-3)PUFAs and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PE; Sigma SFAs, Sigma MUFAs, Sigma(n-3)PUFAs and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PI and Sigma SFAs, Sigma MUFAs,Sigma PUFAs and Sigma(n-3)PUFAs in PS. In the gill, 18:2(n-6), 20:4(n-6), 22:6(n-3) in PC; 16:0, 18:1(n-9), 20:4(n-6), 22:6(n-3) in PE; 16:0, 18:0, 18:1(n-9), 18:2(n-6) in PI and in PS 16:0, 18:0,18:1(n-9), 20:3(n-6), 20:5(n-3), 22:6(n-3) affected. The alterations in Sigma SFAs, Sigma MUFAs, Sigma PUFAs and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PC; Sigma SFAs, Sigma MUFAs, Sigma PUFAs, Sigma(n-3)PUFAs and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PE; Sigma(n-3)PUFAs and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PI; Sigma SFAs, Sigma MUFAs, Sigma PUFAs, Sigma(n-3) PUFAs and Sigma(n-6)PUFAs in PS were significant in gill. The changes in the fatty acids of the PL classes in response to deltamethrin can influence structure and functions of the membrane systems. Changes in fatty acids may be one defense mechanism against the deltamethrin.Article Adaptation of the Employee Spirituality Scale Into Turkish: a Study on Healthcare Workers(Halil Eksi, 2025) Apak, HıdırThis study aimed to adapt the Employee Spirituality Scale to Turkish culture for healthcare professionals. A total of 230 healthcare workers participated in the adaptation of the scale, which comprises 24 items. The research data were collected face-to-face with a questionnaire that included demographic characteristics, the Employee Spirituality Scale, and the Spiritual Orientation Scale. Construct validity was analyzed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. The two-factor structure of the Employee Spirituality Scale was confirmed in the Turkish sample and showed acceptable fit values. Because of CFA, 2 items were removed from the scale because they did not fit. For criterion validity, the Pearson Correlation Coefficient between the scale and the Spiritual Orientation Scale was calculated, and a significant positive result was obtained. This study demonstrated that the Turkish version of the Employee Spirituality Scale is a valid and reliable measurement tool for health care workers to assess the various dimensions of human spirituality that give individuals a sense of guidance, facilitate finding meaning and purpose in one’s tasks, enable them to overcome their weaknesses and limitations in the workplace, and assess various dimensions of human spirituality as a relationship with a higher power.Article Adaptation of the Vicarious Resilience Scale To Turkish: a Validity and Reliability Study(American Psychological Association, 2025) Topçu, F.; Boz, C.; Şeneldir-Patolo, A.; Kitapçıoğlu, S.; Işıker-Bedir, D.; Sanyar, S.Objective: The 27-item Vicarious Resilience Scale (VRS) is the first tool developed to measure vicarious resilience in mental health professionals working with trauma survivors. Given that the VRS measures the positive impact on therapists resulting from observing the healing process of trauma victims, it is especially significant to evaluate its validity and reliability in Turkish culture. This study aims to adapt the VRS to Turkish and examine its psychometric properties. Method: VRS was adapted and administered via electronic survey to 337 mental health professionals from around the globe working with survivors of severe traumas, such as earthquake survivors. The validity of the VRS was examined using different techniques: confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) and criterion-related validity. Results: CFA yielded seven factors that were consistent with the original form: changes in life goals and perspective, client-inspired hope, increased recognition of clients’ spirituality as a therapeutic resource, increased capacity for resourcefulness, increased self-awareness and self-care practices, increased consciousness of power and privilege relative to clients’ social location, and increased capacity for remaining present while listening to trauma narratives. The Cronbach’s α reliability of the VRS was found to be.95; it displayed positive correlations with posttraumatic growth, psychological resilience, and quality of life, indicating convergent validity. However, it had a negative correlation with depression, anxiety, and stress, indicating discriminant validity. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThe site of Körtiktepe in southeastern Turkey is one of few sites in the Upper Mesopotamia basin that attests continuous, permanent occupation across the boundary from end of the colder, drier Younger Dryas (YD) into the comparatively wetter and warmer Early Holocene (EH). This allows for the study of the degree of environmental change experienced on a local level over this boundary as well as for the study of the adaptations that the occupants of the site undertook in response to these changes. The mammal assemblage of Körtiktepe remains relatively stable across the YD – EH transition with the main contributors to diet being mouflon (Ovis orientalis) and red deer (Cervus elaphus) in approximately the same quantities, although the contribution of aurochs (Bos primigenius) increases in the EH. The most significant changes can be seen in the shift in avifauna remains, with a sharp increase of waterbirds during the EH. It is proposed that these shifts reflect changes in the local environment with an increase in woodland cover as well as expansion of local waterways, which is generally consistent with previously published archaeobotanical studies. In terms of species exploited, mortality profiles as well as size distribution of mammals, a great deal of continuity is observed. This suggests that over this particular period the local impact of the beginning of the Early Holocene was not overly dramatic, allowing for cultural continuity of previously established subsistence strategies.
