Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiIn the study, the ameliorating effects of alfa lipoic acid (ALA) against doxorubicin-induced testicular apoptosis, oxidative stress and disrupted mitochondrial fusion were investigated in male rats. Rats were divided into four groups as control, doxorubicin (DOX), DOX + ALA and ALA. A single dose of 15 mg/kg DOX was administered i.p to the DOX and DOX + ALA groups. 50 mg/kg ALA was given to the DOX + ALA and ALA groups by oral gavage every other day. After 28 days, rat testes and serum samples were collected and analysed. Administration of DOX alone caused a decrease in body and relative testicular weights, seminiferous tubule diameter and germinal epithelium thickness, Johnsen's score and serum testosterone levels. DOX treatment led to severe testicular damage such as tubular degeneration, and atrophic tubules. Also, the activities of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase were reduced, while the level of malondialdehyde was increased in the testis. The mRNA levels of apoptotic-related genes (CASP3, TP53, BAX, BCL2) and apoptotic index were increased, while mitofusin-2 decreased. DOX caused an increase in CASP3 and a decrease in mitofusin-2 immunoreactivities. Treatment with ALA markedly improved all of DOX-induced biochemical, histochemical and molecular alterations in rat testis. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiThe purpose of this study was to reveal the combined effects of propolis (P) and quercetin (Q) against diabetic peripheral neuropathy developing with streptozotocin-induced diabetes in rats. Sixty-four adult male rats were divided into eight equal groups: control, P (100 mg/kg/day), Q (100 mg/kg/day), P + Q (100 mg/day for both), diabetes mellitus (DM) (single-dose 60 mg/kg streptozotocin), DM + P, DM + Q, and DM + P + Q. The rats were sacrificed, and blood and sciatic nerve tissues were collected. Blood glucose and malondialdehyde (MDA) levels increased, while IL-6 and total antioxidant status decreased in the DM group (p = 0.016 and p = 0.047, respectively). Ultrastructural findings showed degeneration of the axon and myelin sheath. The apoptotic index (AI %), TNF-alpha, and IL-1 beta immunopositivity increased significantly in the DM group (p < 0.001). Morphological structures approaching those of the controls were observed in the DM + P, DM + Q, and DM + P + Q groups. Morphometric measurements increased markedly in all treatment groups (p < 0.001), while blood glucose and MDA levels, AI (%), TNF-alpha, and IL-1 beta immunopositivity decreased. In this study, phenolic content analysis, antimicrobial effects, and cytotoxic effects of extracts of C. origanifolium were investigated. In the extracts, phenolic compound analysis by the liquid chromatography–electrospray ionization– tandem mass spectrometry method, antimicrobial effect by the minimum inhibition concentration method, and cytotoxic effect on human dermal fibroblasts (HDF), glioblastoma cell (U87), ovarian adenocarcinoma cell (Skov-3), and human colorectal adenocarcinoma cell (CaCo-2) cancer cell lines were investigated. Cytotoxicity analyses were performed by the MTT method. In addition, the GST and AChE enzyme activities of the extracts were also measured. Around 18 compounds were detected in both the methanol and ethanol extract. It was found that the best antimicrobial effect on Gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa was on methanol extract, while the ethanol extract was on Candida albicans fungus (respectively, 2.50mg/ml, 5.0 μg/ml). A 500μg/ml of methanol extract has been shown to have cytotoxic activity high effect on HDF cells. This review is a valuable asset for researchers and practitioners aiming to delve into the yet unexplored potential of Anatolian flora in the fight against COVID-19 and other viral infections. Numerous medicinal plants in Anatolia, such as thyme, sage, cannabis, oregano, licorice root, and Origanum sp., contain bioactive compounds with proven antiviral properties that have been used in the region for centuries. Male rats were divided into six groups: control (DMSO/ethanol), PE (200 mg/kg PE), PE-CSNP (30 mg/kg PECSNP), DOX (10 mg/kg DOX, a single dose, i.p), DOX+PE (10 mg/kg DOX+200 mg/ kg PE) and DOX+PE-CSNP (10 mg/kg DOX+30 mg/kg PE-CSNP). PE and PE-CSNP were administered by oral gavage every other day for 21 days. DOX-treated rats showed histopathological impairment compared with the control group. There was an increase in the apoptotic index, caspase 3 (CASP3), BCL2-associated X apoptosis regulator (BAX), dynamin-related protein 1 (DRP1) expression and total oxidative status (TOS) in the DOX group, while mitofusin-2 (MFN2), total antioxidative status (TAS) and serum testosterone levels of the DOX group reduced when compared with the other groups. PE and PE-CSNP treatments provided significant protection against DOX-induced oxidative stress by reducing TOS levels and increasing TAS levels. CASP3, BAX, apoptotic index and DRP1-MFN2 expressions were restored by PE and PE-CSNP. However, the PE-CSNP showed higher antioxidant and anti-apoptotic efficacy compared with PE. This study is the first to compare the protective effects of estradiol and ascorbic acid against malathion-induced nephrotoxicity through histopathological assessment and molecular docking analyses. Materials and methods: This study was conducted using 20 female albino rats that were distributed into sham, malathion, malathion + estradiol, and malathion + ascorbic acid groups. Nephrotoxicity was induced by daily treatment with malathion and the effects of estradiol and ascorbic on nephrotoxicity were evaluated. After 4 weeks of treatment, the animals were sacrificed and the kidneys were examined following hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining. Histopathology results were supported by molecular docking studies of estradiol and ascorbic acid against a target protein (PDB ID: 2YMX), the peptide inhibitor Fab408 inhibiting acetylcholinesterase (AChE). The inhibition of AChE is the primary mechanism of the toxic effects of malathion. Results: Histopathological examination revealed a notable elevation (p < 0.001) in degeneration and necrosis within the tubular epithelium and interstitial nephritis in the malathion group compared to the sham group. Daily administration of estradiol and ascorbic acid resulted in a notable reduction (p = 0.0022) in the severity of these histopathological changes in the malathion + estradiol and malathion + ascorbic acid groups compared to the malathion group. Of these, the most significant decreases were observed in the malathion + ascorbic acid group. Docking studies of these compounds against the selected protein (PDB ID: 2YMX) revealed promising binding scores. Ascorbic acid exhibited the highest docking score (-6.44 kcal/mol), indicating a favorable binding interaction with this protein. Conclusion: Estradiol and ascorbic acid exert protective effects against malathion-induced nephrotoxicity, whereas ascorbic acid showed superior efficacy compared to estradiol. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiBackground: This study aims to investigate the relationship between ABO blood groups and the severity of peripheral artery disease (PAD) lesions, the coexistence of coronary artery disease (CAD) with PAD, and to identify which blood groups may be more predisposed to these conditions. Methods: This study, which has a single-center and retrospective design, includes 305 patients diagnosed with peripheral artery disease (PAD) between 2015 and 2021. The patients were selected from those with at least 50% stenosis detected by computed tomography (CT) angiography. The severity of PAD lesions was evaluated according to the TransAtlantic Inter-Society Consensus (TASC-II) classification, and the presence of CAD was determined by simultaneous conventional coronary angiography. Demographic data, comorbidities, and laboratory results were collected, and statistical analyses were performed using chi-square tests, logistic regression, and t-tests. All of these patients were divided into 2 groups based on their ABO blood types: O and non-O blood groups. Results: This study demonstrates a significant relationship between blood group classification and both the severity of PAD and the prevalence of CAD. Patients with non-O blood groups exhibited a higher likelihood of having severe PAD lesions (TASC-C and TASC-D) compared to those with O blood groups, who more frequently had milder lesions (TASC-A and TASC-B) (P < 0.001). The prevalence of CAD was also significantly higher among patients with non-O blood groups than those with the O blood group (54.4% vs. 36.4%; P = 0.003). In the logistic regression analysis, non-O blood groups, alongside age, hypertension (HT), and chronic kidney disease (CKD), emerged as independent predictors of severe PAD (P < 0.001 for non-O blood groups). Similarly, older age and non-O blood group status were identified as significant independent predictors of CAD (P = 0.004). These findings suggest that blood group classification, particularly non-O groups, may influence the severity and coexistence of PAD and CAD. Conclusion: Our study reveals a significant association between ABO blood groups and both the severity of PAD and the association of CAD, and shows that non-O blood groups are linked to more severe forms of these conditions. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiObjective The triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is a biomarker of insulin resistance and is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. Contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN) is an important complication that causes poor outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between the TyG index and CIN and mortality in patients who underwent PCI due to chronic total coronary occlusion (CTO). Methods Two hundred eighteen individuals from three separate medical centers who underwent procedural PCI between February 2010 and April 2012 and had a CTO lesion in at least one coronary artery were recruited. According to the TyG index, patients were divided into two groups. Patients with a TyG index >= 8.65 were included in Group 1, and patients with a TyG index < 8.65 were included in Group 2. Patients were followed up for 96 months. The main outcome was the development of CIN and mortality. Results The mean age of the patients (65.8 +/- 10.94 vs. 61.68 +/- 11.4, P = 0.009), diabetes mellitus (60 [44.8%] vs. 11 [13.1%], P < 0.001), and dyslipidemia rates (52 [38.8%] vs. 21 [25%], P = 0.036) were higher in group 1. In multivariable logistic regression analysis, it was seen that age (OR = 1.04, 95% CI = 1.01-1.08, P = 0.020), chronic kidney disease (OR = 2.34, 95% CI = 1.02-5.33, P = 0.044), peripheral artery disease (OR = 5.66, 95% CI = 1.24-25.91, p = 0.026), LVEF (OR = 0.95, 95% CI = 0.92-0.99, P = 0.005), LDL cholesterol levels (OR = 1.00, 95%CI = 1.00-1.02, P = 0.024) and TyG index (OR = 2.17, 95% CI = 1.21-3.89, P = 0.009) were independent predictors of the development of CIN. Conclusion Our study demonstrates a correlation between the TyG index and the prevalence of CIN in patients with CTO undergoing PCI. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiBackground and Objectives: Postoperative femur fracture in elderly patients is associated with high morbidity and mortality, especially in the intensive care unit (ICU). Various factors, including demographic and laboratory parameters, may influence mortality in this population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the association of inflammatory and metabolic markers with mortality in ICU patients with postoperative femur fractures and to identify key predictors to enhance risk stratification and improve patient outcomes. Materials and Methods: In this retrospective single-center study, we analyzed 121 patients aged over 65 years with postoperative femur fractures who were admitted to the ICU between January 2023 and January 2024. Demographic and clinical data, including comorbidities, Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI), and Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE II) score, were collected. Laboratory parameters such as white blood cell count (WBC), albumin, C-reactive protein (CRP), D-dimer, Pan-Immune-Inflammation Value (PIV), CRP-to-albumin ratio (CAR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and others were analyzed. Linear regression, logistic regression, and Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analyses were performed to determine the predictive value of these markers for ICU mortality. Results: The mean age of the patients was 76.3 +/- 9.6 years, and 52.1% were female. The most common comorbidities were hypertension (67.8%) and diabetes (49.6%). ICU mortality occurred in 24 patients (20%). Significant predictors of mortality included higher CRP (>62.8 mg/L), NLR (>10.0), PIV (>450), and APACHE II scores (>23) (p < 0.001 for all). Lower albumin levels (<2.5 g/dL) were strongly associated with increased mortality (p < 0.001). ROC analysis demonstrated that the APACHE II score had the highest predictive accuracy for mortality (AUC = 0.83), followed by albumin (AUC = 0.79) and PIV (AUC = 0.76). Extended ICU stay (>10 days) was also significantly correlated with increased mortality (p < 0.001). Conclusions: This study successfully demonstrates the utility of combining traditional clinical markers, such as APACHE II score, with novel inflammatory markers, such as PIV, CAR, and NLR, in predicting mortality in ICU patients following femur fracture surgery. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiLeptin is a protein hormone which plays a critical role in the regulation of both body-weight through reducing food intake and stimulating energy expenditure. Several polymorphisms in leptin gene (LEP), which encodes for leptin, have been described. However, its association with obesity is still controversial. Therefore, in the present study, we aimed to investigate whether LEP c.-2548 G > A polymorphism was associated with serum leptin levels, lipid parameters, and body mass index in Turkish obese patients. Forty-seven obese patients and 48 healthy individuals were included in the study. Blood samples were collected for DNA extraction. LEP c.-2548 G > A polymorphism were detected using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism technique. Serum leptin levels and lipid parameters were measured by ELISA and enzyme colorimetric assay techniques, respectively. GA or AA genotypes and A allele carrier frequencies of the c.-2548 G > A polymorphism in the LEP were higher in obese (38.3, 34.0 and 72.3 %) when compared with controls (14.6, 12.5, and 27.1 %; p = 0.011, 0.016, and 0.002, respectively). On the other hand, AA or AG genotypes were also related to increased serum leptin levels (p < 0.001) and body mass index (p < 0.0001). The brain tumor is formed by the transformation of brain cells from their normal structures into abnormal cell structures. These formed abnormal cells begin to form in masses in the brain regions. Nowadays, many different techniques are employed to detect these tumor masses, and the most common of these techniques is Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). In this study, it is aimed to automatically detect brain tumors with the help of ensemble deep learning architectures (ResNet50, VGG19, InceptionV3 and MobileNet) and Class Activation Maps (CAMs) indicators by employing MRI images. The proposed system was implemented in three stages. In the first stage, it was determined whether there was a tumor in the MR images Tumor) were detected from MR images (Multi-class Approach). In the last stage, CAMs of each tumor group were created as an alternative tool to facilitate the work of specialists in tumor detection. The results showed that the overall accuracy of the binary approach was calculated as 100% on the ResNet50, InceptionV3 and MobileNet architectures, and 99.71% on the VGG19 architecture. Arsenic at different concentrations of 0.05 mu M (low), 0.5 mu M (medium), 10 mu M (high) doses were used to induce toxicity, while 120 mu m quercetin was used for treatment. MTT and LDH analyses were performed to determine the effect of arsenic and quercetin on cell viability, while oxidative stress markers and antioxidant enzyme activities were measured by spectrophotometric method. TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta levels were measured by the ELISA method, Autodock programs were used for molecular docking studies. In addition, computer-based analyses of quercetin and succimer molecules were performed using SwissADME web tools. TNF-alpha (PDB ID: 2AZ5), IL-1 beta (PDB ID: 1ITB), Caspase3 (PDB ID: 2XYG), Bax (PDB ID: 4S0O), SOD (PDB ID:1CBJ), GSH-Px (PDB ID: 1GP1) and Bcl-2 (PDB ID: 1G5M) crystal structures were obtained from the Protein Data Bank. Bax and Bcl-2 levels of apoptotic genes and mRNA expression levels of Caspase-3 activity were measured using the QRT-PCR technique. TUNEL staining was performed to determine DNA fragmentations, while DAPI staining was done to visualise nuclear modifications. Quercetin has been found to significantly reduce oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis in cells and exert anti-apoptotic effects. Molecular docking studies revealed quercetin shows good binding affinity with molecules with SOD, GSH-Px, Bax, Bcl-2, Caspase-3, TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta structures, and has been observed to bind with Bax and Bcl-2 with molecular docking scores of -7.5 and - 7.7 kcal/mol, respectively. These findings are supported by results showing that quercetin is effective in anti-apoptotic and anti-inflammatory processes in arsenic-induced cells under in vitro conditions. Besides its widely used, many adverse effects have been reported including hematotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, endocrine disorders, and testicular damages due to oxidative stress. However, the role of CBZ on renal toxicity is not fully known. In this study, we attempted to explain the connected mechanisms by focusing on the metabolism of CBZ-induced renal toxicity in rats. Twenty male Wistar-Albino rats were randomized into 2 groups (n = 10); control (1 mL/day distilled water, orally) and CBZ (25 mg/kg/day CBZ, orally) groups. After 60 days, TAS (total oxidant status) and TOS (total oxidant status) levels, histopathological features, some genes involved in apoptosis, 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) activity, and apoptotic cells were assessed of kidney tissue. The oxidative stress index (OSI) was measured from TAS and TOS levels. TOS levels and OSI significantly increased, while TAS levels decreased in the CBZ group relative to the control group. Histopathological observations, Caspase-3 (Casp3), Poly [ADP-ribose] polymerase-1 (PARP-1), 8-OHdG immunoreactivities, and apoptotic cells markedly raised in the CBZ group compared with the control group. Also, mRNA expression of Cytochrome c (Cytc) and CASP3 significantly increased in the CBZ group compared to the control group. Activity of the autonomic nervous system (or sympatho-vagal balance) can be assessed by heart rate variability (HRV). Current study aimed to test in healthy young male participants whether HRV technique reflects increased sympathovagal balance during bladder distention as revealed by strong urge to urinate.Materials and MethodsA total of young and apparently healthy 11 males agreed to participate to the current study. They were asked to provide 5-min continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings in supine position for determination of HRV on two occasions, i.e. before and approximately for 3 1/2 hours after withholding urination. HRV parameters included heart rate (HR, per min), total power (TP, ms2), and standard deviation of RR intervals (SDNN, ms); percentage of successive RR intervals that were different >= 50 ms (pNN50), low frequency (LF) and high frequency (HF) bands and their normalized units (LFnu and HFnu, respectively) and their ratios (LF/HF). Half of the students provided samples on both occasions and those data were compared by paired t-test following log10 transformation.ResultsWithholding urination did not change HR (from 80.0 +/- 4.1 to 84.5 +/- 3.1 per min, p = 0.135) but decreased total power (from 2692 +/- 802 to 1605 +/- 357 ms2, p = 0.008), SDNN (from 50.4 +/- 5.8 to 38.7 +/- 3.8 ms, p = 0.007) and pNN50 (from 15.6 +/- 3.3 to 5.9 +/- 2.6%, p = 0.016) and increased LFnu (from 57.3 +/- 5.3 to 65.1 +/- 4.5, p = 0.029) and LF/HF ratio (from 1.77 +/- 0. 73 to 2.42 +/- 0.47, p = 0.047).ConclusionsIncreased LF/HF together with decreased SDNN and pNN50 suggest that HRV successfully reflects increased sympathetic tonus over the parasympathetic to help accommodate the urine in the bladder. Moreover, it seems that HRV can be used to assess sympathovagal changes non-invasively during voiding. Alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), well known as a biological antioxidant, has been used as a nutritional supplement and as a therapeutic agent in the treatment of certain complications during pregnancy. We aimed to investigate the effects of maternal tobacco-smoke exposure and/or ALA administration on puberty onset, sexual behavior, gonadotrophin levels, apoptosis-related genes, apoptotic cell numbers and oxidative stress markers in the adult female rat offspring. Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into four groups; control, tobacco smoke (TS), TS+ALA and ALA groups. Animals were exposed to TS and/or ALA for 8 weeks before pregnancy and throughout pregnancy. All treatments ended with birth and later newborn female rats were selected for each experimental group. The experiment ended at postnatal day 74-77. Maternal tobacco smoke advanced the onset of puberty in the female offspring of the TS group (p < 0.05). In all treatment groups; the mean number of anogenital investigations and lordosis quality scores showed a decline, serum luteinizing hormone levels significantly increased (p < 0.05) and several histopathological changes in ovaries were observed compared to the control group. In addition, an increase in apoptotic marker levels and apoptotic cell numbers was detected in the ovaries of all treatment groups. Decreased TAS and increased TOS levels were detected in all treatment groups compared to control. These findings suggested that maternal tobacco smoke and/or ALA administration may be leading to the impaired reproductive health of female offspring. Also, this method proposes an invasive and robust solution to the variances in data acquisition and class distribution imbalances. In this paper, a transfer learning approach, specifically ResNet-50 type pre-trained 2D-Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was used to automatically classify ADHD and healthy children. The results demonstrated that ResNet-50 architecture with 10-k cross-validation (CV) achieves an overall classification accuracy of 93.45%. This disorder is caused by mutations in the AAAS gene. The aim of this study is to discuss the clinical, laboratory and molecular genetic analysis results of 12 patients with TAS. Method We evaluated 12 patients from 8 families. Clinical and laboratory data were retrospectively collected from the medical records of the patients in the database for the period 2015-2020. All exons and exon-intron junctions of the AAAS gene were evaluated by next-generation sequencing method. Detected variants were classified according to American Collage of Medical Genetics criteria. Results Alacrimia was found in all patients (100%); achalasia was found in 10 patients (83.3%) and adrenal insufficiency was found in 10 patients (83.3%). In addition, hyperreflexia(6/12), learning disability(5/12), hypernasal speech(5/12), muscle weakness(8/12), delayed walking(7/12), delayed speech(6/12), excessive sweating(7/12), optic atrophy(1/12), epilepsy(1/12), palmoplantar hyperkeratosis(5/12), multiple dental caries(9/12), atrophy of the thenar/hypothenar muscles(4/12) and short stature(4/12) were detected. The DHEA-S levels were measured in 10 patients and were found to be low in 8 of them. In all patients, the sodium and potassium levels were found to be normal. AAAS gene sequencing revealed four previously reported c.1066_1067del (p.Leu356fs*8), c.1432 C > T (p.Arg478*), c.688 C > T (p.Arg230*), and c.1368_1372del (p.Gln456fs*38) variants and two novel homozygous c.1250-1 G > A and c.398_399 + 2del variants in the AAAS gene. Conclusion We detected two novel variants in the AAAS gene. While the classic triad is present in 66.7% of the cases, neurological dysfunction, skin and dental pathologies also occur quite frequently. The earliest and most common finding of TAS is alacrimia. Therefore, adrenal insufficiency should be investigated in all patients with alacrimia and if necessary, genetic analysis should be performed for TAS. Methods: Fifty pregnant women who had been diagnosed with HG between April 2022 and February 2023 at the Siirt University Faculty of Medicine Training and Research Hospital (tertiary center) were recruited for this study. An equal number of pregnant women without an HG diagnosis were included in the study as the control group. Participants' age, pregnancy history, medical history, thyroid function test results, complete blood count results, and electrolyte levels were recorded, and their orexin, galanin, alpha-MSH, and CART serum levels were analyzed using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: No statistically significant differences in orexigenic neuropeptides (orexin and galanin) were observed between the HG and control groups. A statistical difference was found between an anorexigenic neuropeptide (alpha-MSH) and the control group (P = .012). Based on a receiver operating characteristic analysis, the alpha-MSH parameter was statistically significant for distinguishing between participants with an HG diagnosis and those without, with a sensitivity of 63.6%, specificity of 65.9%, and cutoff value of 11769.3 pg/mL (P = .012, area under curve: 0.655). Based on the severity classification of ketonuria (ketonuria levels of +1 or +2 were classified as mild, whereas levels of +3 or +4 were classified as moderate to severe), the anorexigenic CART neuropeptide was found to be a statistically significant diagnostic indicator of severe ketonuria (P = .020). This condition negatively affects his sexual performance and the performance of his partner. Phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors are commonly used to treat ED. Arginase II plays an important role in regulating L-arginine to NO synthase in the smooth muscle of the human corpus cavernosum of the penis. NO is a molecule essential for regulating a variety of functions, including arterial blood pressure, penile erection, and energy balance. Substances such as vardenafil, alprostadil, papaverine, and resveratrol increase NO production, thereby supporting sexual function and vascular health. Additionally, NO donors such as L-arginine, L-citrulline, and alpha-lipoic acid provide effective alternatives when used in combination with PDE5 inhibitors. Medications used in the treatment of ED include vardenafil, alprostadil, and papaverine. In addition, although molecules such as L-arginine, citrulline, resveratrol, alpha-lipoic acid, and rutin are thought to play a role in ED, their pharmacological and molecular effects have not been sufficiently elucidated. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of these molecules in the treatment of ED by computer-based calculations, to obtain new information about them and to inspire new treatment strategies for ED. The physicochemical, molecular and pharmacokinetic properties of the compounds were determined by SwissADME software, and ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity) data were determined by ADMETlab 3.0 software. Biological target and activity data were obtained by MolPredictX and PASS Online software. While the Gaussian 09 program was used for DFT calculations, PyMOL, AutodockTools 4.2.6, AutoDock Vina, and Biovia Discovery programs were used for molecular docking studies. It was found that L-arginine, citrulline, resveratrol and alpha-lipoic acid were well absorbed from the intestine, while rutin showed limited absorption. When their metabolic risks were evaluated, L-arginine and citrulline were found to have lower toxicity. Molecular docking results of rutin and resveratrol were remarkable. The electronic properties of the compounds were explained by DFT calculations. L-arginine and citrulline were found to have low toxicity and positive therapeutic effects. L-arginine and citrulline stand out as promising candidates for future research. Although resveratrol data are promising, unfortunately their potential toxicity and metabolic interactions require further investigation. It is important to learn more about these compounds or conduct research to improve their therapeutic efficacy. Although computer-based calculations play an important role in toxicity predictions, drug interactions, pharmacokinetics and toxicity properties should be carefully evaluated.
