Abstract
Her iki devletin savaş stratejileri birbirinden oldukça farklı olmakla birlikte; her iki tarafın da karşı tarafı yıldırma amaçlı stratejiler geliştirdiği görülmektedir.
Established in the Turkestan region, the Khwarezmshahs State, which was previously affiliated to the Great Seljuk State, gained the identity of an independent state by separating from the Great Seljuk State as a result of the independence movement that started with Khwarezmshah Atsız. The borders of the country expanded until the period of Muhammad Tekiş and the widest borders were reached with the period of Alaeddin Muhammad. Meanwhile, the Mongol State, which emerged in the east, grew rapidly and progressed towards becoming a great empire. In the Alaeddin Muhammad period, due to the borders reached, the Mongols became neighbors and an agreement was made with the Mongol State for the development of trade. In order to ensure the continuation of this agreement, the two states, which were in constant contact, came face to face due to an event that took place in Otrar. Although the war strategies of both states were quite different from each other, it is seen that they tried to organize a strategy to intimidate the other side. The Otrar incident initiated the collapse of the Khwarazmshahs and the Mongol invasion began under the leadership of Genghis Khan. In this thesis, the effect of the Otrar incident, which caused an inter-state crisis, on the process of dissolution and collapse of the Khwarazmshahs is discussed. Keywords: Alaeddin Muhammad, Genghis Khan, Khwarezmshahids, Mongols, Otrar Incident,
